I finished Conviction and it wasn’t the worst show
#okay so... i feel like it gets a bad rap from what i've seen?#it was finding its legs - it only had 12 eps - which is normal for any tv show i feel like#and even my biggest gripe which is ofc the failure to use ms. stephanie march as much as she deserved#might have been rectified later on#re: alex cabot's character i also feel like i might be in the minority here but? given the timeline#e.g. her just being back from witness protection#everything erratic about her character#especially her swinging from risky (her affair with mr. season 2 discovery captain man)#to absolutely straight laced and expected (her getting engaged in the MOST heteronormative way; her coloring inside the lines in her job)#makes absolute sense#my biggest gripe re: that is that it's subtext#but again if had gone on longer the storytelling would probably have compensated for the apparently last minute decision#to throw stephanie march into the mix#and her background would have come more into play#bc how could it not have? we KNOW her#presumably the reason they threw her in at all was bc she was such a successful character on svu#i didn't even still hate all the white men by the end (except frankie rizzoli sorry bud)#and even though it's just. unapologetically a mid-late 2000s show with all the bells and whistles#with - to be fair - kinda sus and/or too-earnest politics and talking points#i didn't... hate it...#amy watches conviction (and it's a mistake)#(or... was it?)
