One of my favourite things in writing is to take a character who takes themselves very, very seriously, and then just have the narrative and the other characters around them constantly highlight how ridiculous that is.

#i don't think it was WRONG to come up with tlb sequels focused on the frog brothers #i do think that treating them as Serious Early-Aughts Action-Horror Heroes is a deeply deeply silly prospect and should be handled as such #note that this is only funny if the character in question is in fact taking themselves too seriously #if this is someone who is like 'actually i do think my opinions and feelings matter and i have worth as a human person'#then taking the piss out of them for believing that is not funny. it's just cruel #however. if they're more like 'actually yes i am a Uniquely Brilliant Genius and could never be fooled>#<by this totally trustworthy demon I summoned!'#or 'it's probably morally forgivable for me to experiment on my human psychiatric patients because my lady love dumped me'#or even 'i definitely look like a total badass right now'
