i have partially solved the "how the fuck did this person find this untagged post on my blog from over 5 years ago"--it's because on the "check out these blogs" sometimes it suggests a post you reblogged years ago as the reason to check out their blog

What happened with i-am-a-fish? A compilation:
A lot of people are confused about what happened with Tumblr user i-am-a-fish (who I'll refer to as Fish from here on out for the sake of readability), and a lot of rumor, misinformation and hyperbole is circulating. With this post I hope to compile the claims and evidence against him, examine their validity, and hopefully bring everyone up to speed.
Let's get the main thing out of the way first:
Tumblr media
Veggiefact is a Twitter account with over 270k followers.
The callout post it references is this one: https://ratsofftoya.tumblr.com/post/189087352976/this-is-a-repost-since-just-making-an-addition-to. A second call-out is making the rounds too, from bubblegumlopunny, and it’s a Google doc: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Gv0ixX_jw9geWxFc07b9En--AGHcTqVBO1E6TLGLhHI/edit
Both callouts share about 90% of the same information. Bubblegum’s callout includes accusations of racism and lesbophobia as well, and more incendiary language and questionable charges than the Tumblr post, but in this post I’ll only focus on the accusations that Fish is a pedophile.
The child porn accounts on Twitter
The “child porn accounts” it refers to are @krskiii, @Karbuitt and @kamawanu__. The last one is actually safe for work, provided you work at a place that’s cool with you being on Twitter, and the second-to-last one sort-of is, depending how your boss feels about suggestive pin-ups and sex jokes.
Kamawanu posts fanart of various fandoms, but mostly fanart of Rick & Morty and Into the Spider-Verse. Kamawanu is an incest shipper, although they keep that content to a separate, adult-only and locked account. Karbuitt posts artwork of various Nintendo characters, but in particular Viridi from Kid Icarus. Neither of these accounts can be argued to be "dedicated to child porn" in any capacity.
Tumblr media
Although some Tumblr users would argue in earnest this is child porn as well.
Krskiii is the only account to have posted questionable content. While the vast majority of their feed is cute, safe for work anime art, they posted lolicon back in januari this year. Both callouts include a second screenshot from a tweet made in 2016 as well.
Was this something Fish reasonably could’ve known about? According to the callout in the Google doc:
Tumblr media
This is straight-up untrue.
Not only is it perfectly possible to follow Twitters without checking them first (and many follow-for-follow Twitters operate this way) but even if you do vet accounts, there is no archive or tags like Tumblr has to conveniently show you what kind of content you can expect. You have to manually scroll through a person’s timeline or media tab to see what they post.
Tumblr media
You’d only see their most recent tweets, not ones they made almost a damn year ago.
Fish followed this account in a follow-spree that had him hit the follow limit for the day on November 12th, almost a whole year after it was made. Fish's claim that he didn't know about these pictures is not only perfectly believable; it’s unlikely that he would’ve even known about it unles he'd dug through this person's media tab quite far.
Tumblr media
This is not the behaviour of someone who curated their following list and carefully vetted everyone on it.
Was this irresponsible behaviour of him, towards both himself and his followers? Sure, you can make that argument. But it’s not evidence for anything more sinister than that.
The Pornhub joke
If you’re still on Tumblr in 2019, you were probably around for the porn purge of 2018, the one that had everyone scrambling for a new online home. With how few alternatives there are of social media sites that allow NSFW content, people started discussing, mostly as a joke, the possibility of moving to Pornhub. It was enough of a Thing that Pornhub's social media department caught wind of it.
Tumblr media
I-am-a-fish decided to get in on the joke and created a Pornhub account and posted about “relocating” on Twitter and Tumblr:
Tumblr media
How zany! A goldfish on a porn site!
People voiced discomfort over it, so Fish deleted the links from Tumblr and the Twitter bio, but didn't delete the tweet. The Pornhub account itself seems to have never been used.
The sex joke
Part of the callout post is the claim Fish “deliberately exposes minors to porn”, this + the Pornhub thing is what they're referring to.
Tumblr media
At some point in late 2018 or early 2019 Fish decided this wasn't the direction he wanted to take his blog into, changed the original post, deleted the reblogs, and hasn't posted nsfw content since.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also this happened a year ago.
The Discord server
Fish briefly ran a Discord server with a strict no-bullying policy that applied to everyone. This is not a political stance, but it was turned into one. This counts as “believing in reverse oppression”:
Tumblr media
Most of the mods were adults, which is supposedly creepy:
Tumblr media
One of them thought shipping characters who have been aged-up into adulthood isn't paedophilia:
Tumblr media
Someone on the server thought “pedophilia” is a sexuality:
Tumblr media
One thing to note here is that none of these actually involve Fish's own thoughts or actions, just those of people he's vaguely associated with (is Mother Allspite a close friend? An acquintance? Someone who volunteered to help moderate the chat?), as well as complete strangers. He's being associated with statements people have made who have no connection to him whatsoever.
Here are the claims I’ve seen making the rounds about the Discord server of which I’ve seen no evidence:
That the mods supported pedophilia
That the mods themselves were pedophiles
That pedophilia was treated as a sexuality you could tag yourself with
That the server was full of pedophiles
The claim that the server mixed minors with adults and didn’t section off nsfw content/discussion is at least a believable one, so I’m not including it here. It’s not proof of anyone being a pedophile, however. It just means the Discord server was poorly managed.
What to make of this?
There is no proof that Fish is anything worse than a young adult (despite the callout posts all making a huge deal out of him being an adult, he's still only 19 years old) who got too popular too fast and didn’t understand the responsibility that came with that. Even for his “worst” offenses there is no proof of ill intent behind them. At worst there is poor judgment, irresponsibility, and impulsiveness. There is certainly no proof that he is attracted to children, much less that he ever acted on it.
Nevertheless,
Tumblr media
(I have no idea where the “20+ Twitters dedicated to child porn” claim comes from and found no evidence whatsoever to support it)

Top 10 animes for first time viewers
Hello, my socially awkward friends,
I’m back after a much-needed vacation to bring you the content, which you crave. In recent weeks, I’ve been approached by friends and colleagues, about what amines they should watch. To say that it was a loaded question is an understatement. With the world of anime and manga being so vast, it's hard to know where to start.
After thinking it over, I’ve decided to follow suit of my supernatural top 10 and do a top 10 for anime for beginners.
Today's post will cover amines for first-time viewers. Let me start by saying that, This Is my Opinion! Please do not jump my bones because of the line-up. Now with that being said, let get this party started.
 (10) Sailor Moon/Sailor Moon Crystal
Tumblr media
Written by Nanoko Takeuchi
Genre/subgenre: Magical girl, action, romance, shoujo, superhero
Manga original run: (December 28, 1991, to February 3, 1997)
Anime Run: Sailor Moon (1992-1993) 46 episodes
   Sailor Moon R (1993- 1994) 43 episodes
   Sailor Moon S (1994- 1995) 38 episodes
   Sailor Moon Super S (1995- 1996) 39 episode
Sailor Moon Sailor Star (1996- 1997) 34 episodes
The series follows the adventures of the protagonist Usagi Tsukino, a middle school student who is given the power to become the titular Sailor Soldier. Joined by other Sailor Soldiers, they defend Earth against an assortment of evil villains.
Let us start with a classic, remade for the modern-day. For quite a few of my generation, Sailor Moon was our introduction to the world of anime. I can remember watching sailor moon, in the early morning before the school bus came. Sailor Moon was the beginning of my love affair with anime.
Now here is what I got to say on sailor moon. It is a bit wonky, timeline-wise. Sailor Moon's overall timeline can be a bit hard to follow. That is if you are going in-depth with it. As long as you stay away from the headache inducing timeline, you’ll be ok.
 (9)Bleach
Tumblr media
Written by Tite Kubo
Genre/subgenre: Action, Adventure, Shonen, Supernatural, Comedy
Original manga run: August 7, 2001 - August 22, 2016
Original anime run: October 5, 2004 - March 27, 2012
366 episodes
What can I say about Bleach? It is one of my favorite anime’s of all time. It's not perfect but what is? You have a diverse cast of characters, a good story and plenty of action. In my opinion, that makes a great anime for beginners. For me, Bleach was my return to anime, after years of not watching. I think that I've watched this anime from beginning to end, one too many times.
I'm talking watching the U.S. airing up to the point that I had the watch in Japanese. I finished the anime a full 2 years before the finale aired in the U.S. I would highly recommend this anime to any beginners.
 (8) Restaurant to another World
Tumblr media
Written by Junpei Inuzuku
Genre/subgenre= Fantasy, Isekai
Manga Original Run: November 18, 2016, to June 25, 2019
Anime original Run: July 3, 2017, to September 18, 2017
12 episodes
I was recommended this anime by a friend of a friend. I am going, to be honest; I didn't know what I was getting into. This would be my first experience with isekai anime. Looking back on this anime, it is quite an anime. Not much action, but at a great story. I would not recommend watching after a 420 session, you will get the munchies.
 (7) Sword Art Online
Tumblr media
Written by Reki Kawahara
Genre/Subgenre= Isekai, Fantasy, Action, Adventure
Light Novel Original Run: April 10, 2009, to present
Anime original run:
Sword Art Online = July 8, 2012, to December 23, 2012
Sword Art Online II= July 5, 2014, to December 30, 2014
Sword Art Online Alicization = October 6, 2018, to present
And here we go again with another isekai. The genre in itself is pretty much the same across animes. Someone dies and is sent to another world, but Sword Art Online is different. Instead of dying and going to another world; our main character is trapped in a virtual world and if he dies there, he dies in the real world.
In general, I've been pretty hard on SAO because of its a little too real world for me. It deals with some very real-world issues. To give some examples: Death, rape, incest, and other issues. To top it all off, with it being 2019; we are only months away from when the anime begins. (Where is my damn nervegear?)
If you can get past all of that it's a decent anime. The first arc is by far the best. The second arc is OK and the third I haven't finished yet. Sword Art Online is a good anime for beginners, in my opinion. Plus, Sword Art Online always puts out a beyond great soundtrack.
 (6) The Saga of Tanya the Evil
Tumblr media
Written by Carlo Zen
Genre/subgenre: Isekai, fantasy
Manga Original run: April 26, 2016, to present
Anime original run: January 6, 2017, to March 31, 2017
12 Episodes
Here we are with the last isekai on our list. I understand that there have been quite a few listed, but besides the honorable mentions, there are no more. The Saga of Tanya the Evil is the perfect end of the isekai on this list.
Following the usual isekai tropes, Tanya the evil can best be described as a fantasy, historical alternative reality anime; taking place in a world similar to World War 1. As of this post, I'm only eight episodes in and quite enjoying it. I highly recommend checking it out.
 (5) Fairy Tail
Tumblr media
Written By Hiro Mashima
Genre/Subgenre: Shonen, Action, Adventure, Fantasy
Manga Original run: August 2, 2006, to July 26, 2017
Anime original Run: October 12, 2009, to Present
328 + episodes
It was around 7 years ago that a friend recommended fairy tail, to me. At the time, it wasn't my cup of tea. I was following Bleach, at the time, and hadn't leaped into the world of anime. Fast forward several years and it is still not my cup of tea. Now here is the thing, even though I may not be into fairy tail, ii know a good anime when I see it Given that fairy tail is entering its last full season; it a great choice for beginners and old alike. This is why I’m giving it the number 5 spot.
 (4) Attack on Titan
Tumblr media
Written by Hajime isayama
Genre/Subgenre: Dark fantasy, post-apocalyptic
Original manga run: September 9, 2009, to present
Original anime run: April 7, 2015, to present
Attack on Titan is one of those manga/animes that is a hit from day one. With a post-apocalyptic feel straight out of someone's worse nightmare. This isn't the zombie apocalypse folks; this is something far worse. The following that Attack on Titan has garnered is on par with American shows like The Walking Dead.
Along with the manga and anime, Attack on titan has spawned a live-action movie in 2015. In my opinion, the movie was just as gory and the anime, but a little toned down. If your a fan of post-apocalyptic shows like The Walking Dead, this is one that you have to check out.
A little piece of advice, do not watch the movie until you have seen the first season.
 (3) Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid
Tumblr media
Written by Coolkyoushinja
Genre/Subgenre: fantasy
Manga original run: May 25, 2013 to present
Anime original run: January 11, 2017, to April 6, 2017
13 episodes plus OVA
If there was ever an anime that should be the official anime of this blog, this is it. Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid has been one of my favorite animes that I've seen in recent years. This is not the usual action-pack thriller, that you'll usually see from animes that make there way west. It the cute and funny story of Miss Kobayashi and how she ended up with a dragon maid and the adventures that follow. I would recommend this to anyone, anime watcher or not.
 (2) Fullmetal Alchemist/ Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood.
Tumblr media
Written by Hiroma Arakawa
Genre/Subgenre: Adventure, dark fantasy, science fiction, shonen
manga original run: July 12, 2001, to June 12, 2019
Anime original run:
( Fullmetal Alchemist) October 4, 2003, to October 2, 2004
51 episodes plus the movie Conqueror of Shamballa (2005)
( Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood) April 5, 2009, to July 4, 2010
64 episodes
Here we are at the number 2 spot. This was a toss-up for number one, but I decided against it. I would suggest watching Brotherhood because it follows the manga beginning to end. Fullmetal Alchemist ends at episode 51 and it is up the movie, Conqueror of Shamballa to bring an end to the story. I saw Conqueror of Shamballa and overall the movie was great. Well deserving of the praise it got from film festivals around the world. Do yourself a favor and check out this anime.
 (1) Dragon Ball /Z/GT/Super/Heroes
Tumblr media
Written by Akira Toriyama
Genre/Subgenre: Action, Adventure, martial arts, shonen
Manga Original run:
Dragonball= December 3, 1984, to June 5, 1995
Dragonball Super= June 20,2025 to present
 Anime original run:
Dragonball(1986 to 1989)
Dragonball Z( 1989 to 1996)
Dragonball GT( 1996 to 1997)
Dragonball Super( 2015 to 2018)
Super Dragonball Heroes(2018 to present)
And here we are at the number one spot. Come on, everyone should have seen this coming. Anime lovers and non-anime lovers have heard of the Dragonball series. While I was fighting for Fullmetal Alchemist to be in the number one spot; it wasn't going to happen. The Dragonball series is perfect for new anime viewers fro many reasons. One of the main reasons is if you get confused, there is plenty out there to help you understand what’s going on. The Dragonball series has been around in manga form since 1984 and anime form since 1986. There is plenty out there to help newbies and confused them, at the same time. Just don't watch the shitty American made live-action movie.
Honorable mentions: Konosuba, Ghost in A Shell, Food Wars and Naruto
Like always my friends, don't forget to like/share/reblog and follow. To get more of an idea of what's coming, you can follow me over on twitter at @socialyawkdude.

Newcomer Campaign
I deleted the Tumblr app off my phone because it was too addictive. Tumblr is defined as a microblogging and social networking website by Wikipedia. There was nothing physically keeping me so obsessed on Tumblr all day and night, it was the memes, the Woke posts and the occasional artsy and thoughtful posts. This was only based on what I was following. I wanted to be this Tumblr girl who took blog-worthy pictures and wrote deep, meaningful stuff. I, of course, was not. I wanted to be a blog that was funny, aware and aesthetically appealing. In this process, I never fact checked anything before reblogging it and rarely followed original content creators. Because on Tumblr, you are likely to see content that someone reblogged from someone who reblogged from someone else and so on and so forth. I chose to study Tumblr for my Newcomer Campaign because I was a newcomer that quickly became an avid user and experienced everything first hand.
During my time with Tumblr, I realized it was extremely slow. Part of the reason I committed Tumblr infocide was because it was infuriating how slowly scrolling through it was and because of my obsession, I was also impatient. It was bothered me that I was so affected by it, so I decided it was better to take a break. I propose a campaign that will solve the issues and help socialize and retain newcomers in the online community. I will use Robert E. Kraut and Paul Resnick’s book, Building Successful Online Communities (BSOC) as the main basis of my arguments along with other outside sources. I am arguing that Tumblr’s problems can be solved by the platform itself, without interfering with the user’s free speech that makes the platform so attractive. I will begin with brief descriptions of the two issues followed by my methods to improve on them. I will then reflect and conclude based on the discussion.
Reliable sources: Social Justice Warriors
Tumblr is a great place to share any type of content including, but not limited to, photos, videos, gifs, articles, links, writings, and is a generally welcoming community. A user can easily learn the ropes without training or initiation. However, it is a common criticism of Tumblr that ‘Social Justice Warriors’ often make the community an unsafe place for writers. Social Justice Warriors (SJW) is a term now used for people who tend to aggressively impose socially progressive views.
“The online presence of social justice blogging on Tumblr is extensive, spanning over a wide range of issue topics from religion, racism and gender equality to ablism, homosexuality and classism among many others.” (Knowyourmeme)
On Tumblr, such accounts tend to ignore the education aspect of social issues and immediately engage in attacking others instead. It is also common to see a SJW account reblogging and/or commenting on a post that is not verified as legitimate news.
“The REAL problem with social justice warriors is their superficial mentality. There are many issues that are heavily affecting many people across the world but these individuals detract from many of the real problems but continuing to address and argue about meaningless topics in order to boost themselves in the eyes of their peers.” (Urban Dictionary)
I have reblogged things in the past that I did not bother fact checking, which may have lead to false, misunderstood or biased information to be consumed by my many followers. I realized later that incorrect and incomplete information could be just as dangerous as no information.
I think a good way to battle these warriors would be a built in fact checking mechanism or an outsourced embedding into posts so that the information shared on Tumblr is more complete than deficient. Some options of fact checking servers are listed below. Someone who is new to Tumblr may not be aware of this problem. If the newbie decides to write about a subject, they may not receive positive feedback. BSOC (p. 217) claims
“When old-timers provide newcomers formal mentorship, the newcomers become more committed to the community, learn to behave in it, and contribute more.”
Since Tumblr is not a particularly hard platform to get used to, formal mentorship is not necessary, but if Tumblr provided the fact checking servers, it would act as an official mentorship in the right use of sharing information.
An alternative would be the function of verifiability of posts – certain admins could be in charge of this; a post can be shared at any point, but after an admin has fact checked it, it will display a logo like verified accounts on Twitter or Instagram so that readers know that to be real news.
Tumblr media
Since there are a lot of things posted daily, users committed to the community could help with this if they received some admin responsibilities and similar to Wikipedia, these users could be thanked and appreciated. Expressions of gratitude can drastically escalate the recipient's pro-social comportment (Matias, 2014). These options are not rude and do not delete shared content, keeping the original share out there; therefore still maintaining free speech and not imposing rules and regulations.
Loading rate: Why is Tumblr so slow?
If you start typing, “Why is Tumblr…” on Google, you will find the first suggestion to be “… so slow.”
Tumblr media
Tumblr is infamous for its “stability issues” that result in mass hysteria (hyperbolically). I had a friend call me at 2AM one night two years ago asking me if my Tumblr was down too – and it was. So why IS Tumblr so slow and how can that be solved, if at all? As someone with little to no knowledge about servers and the Tumblr server specifically, I cannot possibly come up with the best solution. Since the platform requires you to use their server for your blogs, if Tumblr is inaccessible, so is your blog. The way that I tackled this issue for my assignment was to think of it like a businessperson. When dealing with newcomers, recruitment, selection, retention, socialization and protection are the five basic problems that need to be solved, according to BSOC. My solution to the speed problem has to do with retention of Tumblr users.
“The community should engage in tactics to keep valuable newcomers until they can develop more robust ties to the community (Kraut & Resnick, p. 180).”
The best way to go about this, in my opinion, would be raising money for Tumblr so it could expand or improve the quality/amount of servers so the users would have a more pleasant experience. I know that I would be one of millions to be willing to donate up to $5 for that cause. Wikipedia pages often display the fundraising bar; Tumblr could do a similar display for users logging in. Tumblr could also allow more advertising, even if it may give rise to some backlash.
Tumblr media
The donation is something that maintains the users’ power, giving them a minute stake in the workings of Tumblr. In this way, their integrity with free speech is not violated and the content on their feed is not covered in unwanted (advertising) content.
Reflection
I think my concerns about Tumblr are authentic and widely agreed upon, so they should have solutions to them sooner than later. My solutions for fact checking may be hard to execute, but I think it is vital to deal with. People do not want to be consuming wrong/incomplete/biased information and a big platform like Tumblr should not be allowing it. Since this platform is easy to use for anyone with access to the Internet, it holds some responsibility to its users. Out of the solutions presented above, I think the fact checking mechanism would be the best option because it requires less effort from the people, making it easier for the site to incorporate without too much backlash. However, this may extend the “too slow” problem. To solve which, the donation solution is the best way to go. If advertising is increased, it will allow for excessive sell out accusations, which could be a Public Relations nightmare and may encourage infocide in protest of the act.
Conclusion
Based on my experiences and research, Tumblr is a fun and easy platform to use but has its fair share of cultural and technology-based issues. Speed and SJW are issues that can be tackled with without exercising official regulations that make users feel unsettled. While my solutions are all in keeping of free speech, they are also keeping the sanctity of sharing truthful information.
