Hi. Honest question. What makes youb so optimistic regardless winterwidow chances in mcu? I must say, before civil was relatively optimistic, but after not so sure. I know hints here and there but as one really good piece on tumblr explained it could scratched by them, used in various scenarios. Nothing certain as it might seem. Just wanted to ask you what makes you confident.
Actual hints in the dialogue of the movies, like “going after him is a dead end, I know, I’ve tried,” “she’s mine,” “you could at least recognize me.”
Little hints in the background that might not be as noticeable like Bucky recognizing her voice, Natasha generally knowing how to be one step ahead of him -- even though she’s never been in a fight with him before (remember, he shot her from afar in Odessa, so logically she should have no idea how he actually fights and the fact that she knows and is able to stay one step ahead of him has to indicate something), Bucky taking the gun from her locker, and his thing for redheads being confirmed in the MCU.
The fact that his ties to Soviet Russia, despite having been found by HYDRA and not the KGB in this universe, was made crystal clear.
The return of their relationship in this most recent Black Widow run, and also buckynat nod in the 1872 mini-run. Hell, it was even alluded to in that little mobile game Avengers Academy. While these things generally don’t have anything to do with the MCU, they show that Marvel has not forgotten about it.
The fact that aside from Gretchen, who he met in WWII, and Ventolin, who a vast majority of comic readers and now even the writers at Marvel ignore, Natasha is the only canon long-term love interest Bucky has ever had in the comics.
The fact that all of the other major white male characters have had at least one love interest from their comics canon. (This is, unfortunately, excluding Sam, Rhodey, and T’Challa thus far -- which is another problem entirely.)
The fact that Steve and Sharon are a thing, which means Nat and Steve more than likely will not be a thing, and Bucky and Steve will not be a thing.
Most people really did not like br*cenat, and with the way things were left off it seems unlikely that will be continued.
The official Marvel account named Bucky and Natasha’s relationship in Marvel’s Top 10 best relationships (I think at #5?).
Seb clearly wants it to happen and as far as I’m aware neither of the actors like they’re ready to jump ship.
TBH I have a lot more reasons but I don’t need to say all of them, I think you get the gist. I’m obviously not 100% sure since no one really can be except the writers/directors/actors once they’ve read the scripts. But I see more reasons that they could go ahead with it than couldn’t, and if Bucky is going to become a major character in the MCU soon (which is seems like he will judging by Seb’s contract) I’d say it’s pretty likely.
