A few tipps for crochet beginners
Start practicing with yarn in light colours. You won't see anything if you choose to start with black or a really dark brown for example
For the very first project I am suggesting coasters. You are able to practice basic stitches and get fast results. Just use natural fibers like cotton if you're drinking hot beverages like tea otherwise the coaster might stick to your cup. Avoid time consuming projects like blankets for your very first project as well.
Always count your stitches because it's not unusal that beginners lose stitches in the beginning and don't notice it at first.
Read the label of your yarn and use the recommended hooksize
If there are small holes in your project don't worry about it. It's normal that crochet has holes
For english patterns there are different words in british english and american english for the same stitch. Make sure that you're using the correct stitch when following a pattern.
AI pictures are being used for crochet patterns which means that your finished product will not look like in the picture. Make sure that the picture is actually real. Look at backgrounds and zoom in on the stitches. If there seems to be no system in which the stitches were made it's likely fake. The lack of texture is also a big red flag. When I doubt ask other people who crochet. My DMs are open as well if you're unsure whether AI was used (of course as AI is getting better it get's more difficult to recognize it so mistakes on my side might be made).
If you use more than one skein of the same yarn for the same project make sure it's the same lot number. The lot number tells you the dying batch of that exact yarn. Yarns from different batches might vary in colour even if it's technically the same shade and it's gonna be noticible
Only buy what you need at the time. I know with haul culture and social media you might get the idea that you need all the yarn you can get your hands on but that's not true! I am not perfect either but everyone should try to refrain from overconsumption and I myself at a point where I say it's too much so I am not buying anything new for a while...so yeah make sure that you don't even reach that point :D

A few of you asked for progress updates on the crochet experiment, so here we are!
Thoughts on crocheting lace for the first time:
Glad I was forced to get a set of crochet needles, if I got to pick just one I think I accidentally would have gone too small.
Daiso has nice, cheap, lace yarn in a nice small bundle. Perfect for "idk if I'll keep up this hobby".
The upside of getting crochet needles the same day I got the yarn is that I was able to capitalize on my energy and my Sunday by getting started. The downside of not waiting for a tatting shuttle is that... I'm not sure I want to switch to a shuttle after I just bought a set of like 5 crochet needles. So maybe I'll wait until I'm bored of the crochet needles, if such a thing occurs?
My eyes and knuckles are confused by this sudden change in muscle usage. I feel like an old woman with my mildly sore knuckles and mildly irritated eyes. I work with computers, so I was excited to try a hobby that doesn't involve staring at a screen. But is it that much better if I'm staring even closer?
Oof, I'm terrible at it so far. Below is a pic from day 1. White is the YouTube video screenshot and navy blue is mine. You see how in the center of the white one there's a ring of little columns and then 2 layers up there's another ring of columns? That's (in theory) what I've achieved in the blue image. But! I'm not restarting anymore: done is better than perfect. And for a first project, it's not bad. It's in a circle shape, mostly.
Tumblr media
Torn on my decision to start with a doily rather than straight lace. What I'm doing is less repetitive which means it's not boring (good) but I get less time to perfect each technique (bad). Also if one ring has a mistake in it, the next layer is built on that mistake (mixed). If it was straight lace, if I made a mistake it would look very obviously like a mistake, assuming I fixed it going forward. But I would get to start fresh each time. But! The doily shape is a little more usable (coaster)... Idk what I'd do with a straight strip of lace.
All that to say, once I finish this tragic coaster, maybe I'll try a straight lace strip next? If I don't try this again.
My fake!eureka moment at the end of day one/before starting to crochet in day 2 is: everything is secretly a chain stitch from a different angle. I noticed that every time I have to ladder up to the next layer, I do a bunch of chain stitches to fake whatever the end of the layer will connect to. Which suggests that all the dc-ing I'm doing through the rest of the layer will look exactly like my chain stitch by the end. I assume I'm actually wrong about this in general, but it at least seems true for this doily pattern. Maybe only true for the dc?
Today was day 2 and amusingly I started layer 5 and was like "Ohhh I think I finally understand what I did wrong in some of the previous layers. Great, I think I've got the hang of it, this is going to start looking a lot better" and then proceeded to make the most HORRIFIC layer. So now I've learned that consistent thread tension probably matters? Not that I know how to resolve that yet. Also, counting dc stitches is the worst. Chain stitches are short enough that they can sit in your bioRAM. By the time you finish one dc, you can't remember if it's your first or second one. So that probably didn't help. (Also no, I don't know what dc stands for. I think maybe double crochet? But I know it as the 1-in-pull-4to2-3to1). We'll see how layer 6 goes tomorrow! I'm optimistic it'll be better than layer 5 🤞

Pastry kitchen wins and magic loop woes
When was the last time we had a baking contest event? I really can’t remember. But I do remember how much fun they were!
Ronnie and Jude made good on their promise to come visit the camp. They were performing in Windham and Glassenwick, which is a couple hours from here, so they figured it was a good opportunity to drop by.
Cheyenne’s visiting too, along with Emilia and Michele Toni, so that’s how the pastry kitchen setup happened. Turns out Ronnie and Jude are fans of Cheyenne and Emilia, and vice versa. I’m glad that they all had a great time together!
Emilia and Ronnie went all out transforming part of the camp into a bakery. Years of crafting furniture has allowed me to build up a nice collection of fancy kitchen equipment that probably wouldn’t ever be used if it weren’t for friends like them.
Along with our little baking spree we also did some yarn stuff. My ballerina sweater has been coming along really well. I’m done with the main body and i-cord at the bottom so now I’m working on the first sleeve. After making so much progress it seems like now I’ve hit a bit of a wall and a possible case of second sleeve syndrome.
Normally for sleeves, you use DPNs since they’re best for knitting in the round, specifically something small. Since I don’t have DPNs in the size I need, I found out about this technique called magic loop that seemed feasible. First attempt went badly as my tension was all over the place so the stitches looked sloppy. Plus I had trouble working the magic loop so stitches were getting caught at the parts where the needle and cable connected so that added to my frustration.
So I ended up frogging that and tried again the next day. My tension was still a bit wonky as I was pulling the yarn too tight, which in turn worsened the ladders I was trying to avoid. I personally found the method a bit clunky and that slowed down my progress a lot. And then came the wrist pain.
As a result I’m gonna take a couple days off to let my right wrist recover. To be honest, I should’ve stopped earlier but I really wanted to get the hang of magic loop. I have to say, the sleeve is starting to look better and it’s becoming less tedious, so that’s something. There’s still ladders but I’ve been trying on the sleeve as I work and thankfully they aren’t too noticeable because the fabric stretches a little.
When I last left off I think I have another inch of stockinette before the 2x2 twisted rib and then I’ll be done. Then all I have left is the second sleeve and the attached i-cord edging in the front.
I’m still amazed at how quickly this top is coming together! It’s been fun working on this project, especially trying it on as I go and seeing the whole thing come together. It’s really boosted my confidence in knitting garments and now I’m totally on board to make more clothes.
Ronnie’s working on the Blissful Cardigan by CherryKnits, a popular knitwear designer that’s mentioned a lot. They’re know for having simple but classic pieces that look timeless and cozy. I’ve had my eyes on her patterns too, the Blissful Cardigan being one of them. Ronnie says it’s a fairly fast knit as she casted on about a week and a half ago and is almost done with the main body. It really looks nice and the yarn she’s using is so soft, it’s perfect for autumn and winter days when there’s a chill in the air.
Jude is finally getting started on crochet and he’s making good progress. Ronnie taught him the basics and Cheyenne’s helping him refine his skills. So far, I say he’s doing good. For now he just wants to practice his stitches before tackling on a project. I’m glad he’s enjoying the craft and hopefully it won’t be too long before he’s on the same level as me. Even as a beginner you can make a bunch of stuff like coasters, grocery bags, granny squares, and even a simple top.
Emilia and Michele Toni dabble a bit in knit and crochet too - Emilia prefers knitting while Michele Toni prefers crochet. Michele Toni’s making a bunch of cute flower coasters to give as gifts with some cotton yarn that Daisy Jane and I are trying to destash. She made good use of that yarn and they will make lovely gifts for her friends.
We divided our time working on yarn projects, doing camping stuff, and baking up a storm. Ronnie went out with Carrie and Mira to catch some fish for a seafood pot pie with the puff pastry Emilia gave to us while Michele Toni, Jude, and I went berry picking.
Using my left hand most of the time felt a little weird and probably a bit unnecessary but I really wanted to give my right hand a rest. Now that I think about it, maybe I should invest in those wrist brace things, especially if I plan to knit and probably crochet more garments. I’ve never had wrist issues as a kid but then again I was knitting things like scarves and headbands so I guess those didn’t put as much of a strain on my wrist like magic loop is doing right now. That, and I’m not getting any younger, so that’s something to consider regarding my physical health in general. I mean the pain isn’t that bad that I can use my hand at all but it’s enough to really make me slow down and not try to push it. Being someone who likes working with their hands - knitting and journaling come to mind - I want to take care of my wrists so it’s important to take care of myself.
Though if it weren’t for my wrist, I think I would’ve taken a break from the ballerina sweater anyway because of the clunkiness of magic loop. The knitting break has been good and I’m looking forward to getting back into it so hopefully I’ll be finished with the piece in about a week.
As expected, Emilia took the lead in our baking sessions. She was always our go-to person for learning new baking skills. That’s how Cheyenne became such a good baker, and cook as well, it’s all thanks to Emilia. Because she knows so much, a lot of people assume that Emilia went to culinary school. Truth is, she saw cooking and baking as a fun hobby, not something she’d want to make a career out of like some world famous pastry chef, so that’s why she decided not to pursue that path. Emilia Eats was just a vlog she did for fun in high school that eventually grew into something bigger when a lot of things in her life wasn’t working out. When shit went down, she turned to baking, something brought her back to simpler times, and in a way, that’s what saved her from spiraling further down.
The baking contest happens to be the perfect opportunity for Emilia to test and finalize a couple new recipes. First one is an apple pumpkin custard pie, which sounds like the perfect autumn recipe. It’s a recipe that Emilia’s been working on and off on for a couple months and now it’s almost ready to share. All she needs to do is some fine tuning for the apple pumpkin custard, which she said was the main roadblock, so she made a couple versions for us to try. Right now it’s almost a split vote, which I’m not sure is helpful. Both versions have subtle differences and I think that’s what’s making it hard to choose. As a result, Emilia’s gonna whip up a third version and see how that goes.
Her second recipe, cinnamon espresso brownies, is a work in progress that’s been coming together nicely. The dough is basically a hybrid of cinnamon rolls and brownies so that takes a bit of prep work to make. The process isn’t too bad if you have the patience but may be a bit daunting if you’re a novice baker. That’s why Emilia and Cheyenne want to see if there’s a way of simplifying the process without sacrificing quality. They’re still working on it but unfortunately there seems to be no shortcuts. Then again, this dessert is on the decadent side so even if it is a lot of work, I think the effort’s definitely worth the long wait.
Cheyenne, inspired by Addie and Ginger, made up an original cookie recipe - chocolate chip tahini. The cookie is sweet and salty and well balanced thanks to the nuttiness of the tahini and bittersweetness of the chocolate. They came out pretty good but a bit on the thin and crispy side, which again isn’t bad, but Cheyenne - and I - prefer soft and chewy cookies. She’s making some adjustments to the recipe right now so we’ll see how that works out tomorrow.
Blaire’s working on a cupcake recipe - or several, I should say. She has a knack for coming up with unusual flavor combinations that surprisingly go well together. Problem is that she’s come up with so many that she can’t decide which one to work on first since it’s probably a bad idea to bake them all at once. I can see her dilemma - I myself am torn between taro rice pudding latte and caramel barbecue chili. Emilia tried to help but she too can’t decide between the taro (the popular one by a narrow margin) and charred sweet potato butter pecan. Maybe Blaire should flip a coin at this point because the votes are wayyyy too close.
Chester, being a sports buff, came up with a protein packed energy bar with the fresh berries we picked earlier. The batter’s a blend of oats, eggs, milk, dates, and nuts, which can be thrown in the blender and then poured into the pan. Then add the berries and bake in the oven and that’s it. A simple recipe that’s surprisingly satisfying, the kind of thing you can make ahead of time so if you need something to easily grab and go, this is it. I’m normally not an oat bar person but this is pretty good, probably because it’s not too sweet and there’s an equal proportion of oats and fruit.
Mint created something that has to do with mint that actually turned out pretty good. I don’t usually go for minty desserts because I find the flavor can be a bit too overpowering. I do like chocolate mint ice cream though, but it’s not my go-to flavor. As for mint jelly, unless you like the flavor of toothpaste, I don’t recommend it. Thankfully, Mint’s caramel chocolate creme mint eclair tastes nothing like that. The mint actually balances the overly sweet and rich flavors of chocolate and caramel so while the dessert’s still a bit much for me, it’s not too much that I can only stomach a couple bites. However I recommend eating this eclair with a cup of black coffee because that filling, while good, really is rich and heavy.
For dinner, Ronnie took charge in making seafood chowder pot pies, a family recipe that happens to be her specialty. She says the recipe itself isn’t too hard, but it requires a lot of prep time because of the veggies and seafood. Good thing we finished our baking sessions by the time she needed to set things up. She wasn’t kidding about the prep! At least the effort was worth it as the pies came out great and served as a perfect bonfire dinner. And now I have another recipe to add to my collection!
Tomorrow’s gonna be more of the same in terms of baking. Hopefully Blaire will come up with a decision regarding the cupcakes unless she decides to bake a batch of each flavor. I wouldn’t mind that honestly but that’ll be a lot more work for her, unless she doesn’t mind that. I also can’t wait to see what other recipes the others come up with - I sadly have nothing to offer at the moment but I’m more than happy to taste test! As for knitting, now that my wrist is well rested, I hope to get back into it and finish that first sleeve.

I’ve successfully learned to dye my own wool, this new knowledge will come in handy making custom colors for my needlefelting projects as well as making my own yarn once I learn to use a drop spindle. These skills also let me discover natural dyes from plants and spices.
Tumblr media
I’m very proud of skeins I made. Here’s the raw wool on the left, and the completed carded and brushed wool dyed using red clay, sunflower seeds, turmeric, pomegranate peel, spinach and coffee. They came in such lovely muted, earthy tones. The projects I’ll be making with these probably won’t be washed or left out in direct sunlight, there’s no real danger of color fading, so I used a very simple mordant.
I’m not the only one doing crafts, my bro saw a tutorial on making geode coasters using resin, and really wants to try it out. He was thrilled to find he can diy glass glitter from broken Christmas ornaments, which lend that authentic sparkle to resin geodes, but I also commissioned him to make me some glitter too. Not a lot, but I'd like some to add a bit of sparkle to projects, and also for nostalgia’s sake. When I was a child I remember going to a stationery shop that sold recycled glass glitter made from litter found on the beach, I think it was called ‘Mermaid Scales’, sadly due to it’s nature as glass and being so little at the time, I wasn't allowed to to buy it. Now I can finally use it and I can customize the colors with alcohol ink.
This year seems to be one for nostalgia in general. I found my beeswax clay and crayons still in their little wooden boxes. It’s amazing how smell is so closely tied to memory, that honey scent took me back to the day my class watched our teacher melt and pour the wax, creating little blocks for us to use in sculpture, and of drawing lessons with our crayons, which we’d go on to use in our picture diaries each day. I had such good memories of these art supplies, they were my first steps as an artist, it made me wonder how I could just carelessly toss them into the garage like I did. I won’t do that again. They’ll have a place on my work desk with my art supplies, so I can reach for them when I need some de-stressing or for artist ‘playtime’, an invaluable method for beating artblock that I learned from my ceramics teacher long ago. Working with wax clay or just any clay, is also very therapeutic too.
Tumblr media
And of course I had to test out the crayons, I'm pleased to see they’re just as buttery as I remember. A perfect rainy day activity. These may just get me back into traditional media again.

I hope that this didn’t take too much time to do so that you were able to get your schoolwork!! This is definitely after the fact but I wish you the best of luck with your work.
(Accidentally forgot to answer about Reggie having a box similar to Rose’s so I’m going to do that briefly)
1. Unlike Rose’s box which was going to be used by someone else Reggie’s was just going to be used by himself also probably only looked at by the rest of Sunset Curve so he probably didn’t think/care about what it was going to look like.
2. The fact that Reggie would go to Luke’s parents and ask for baby pictures is perfection. Also the fact that he just casually stole a box of baby photos and or has pictures of a random baby (if it’s not Bobby) is hilarious and I was laughing so hard at that.
3. Yes, and that would explain that why Reggie didn’t recognize the box at first just because it was a mindless one he made, maybe not even one of his boxes that he put thought into it (what photos/items should I use ect) but just random stuff
Now onto this post (just starting at 2 so the numbers line up)
2. Yes, maybe the guys don’t even get a chance to ask him what’s wrong but Reggie randomly blurts this out and then about five minutes later they’re all crying. Bobby forces all of them to talk, even Alex.
3. Yes that’s exactly what I mean! Just because although he does have his moments of indecisiveness he’s mostly not really an indecisive person so once he believes in some thing he stands with it 100%. For sure, if someone (usually Alex) points out why/how he was wrong Luke will admit that he was wrong (depending on the reasoning it’s mostly begrudgingly)
4. You took the words right out of my mouth and I also love the fact that you said that it’s usually when he’s writing and not in general, because I feel like outside of writing Luke tries to be as conscious as he can about his bandmates well-being and stuff. (‘Luke, once again you are not a solo artist if that was the case then Reggie would already have a country album out and me and Bobby would make our own little band of ourselves just to spite you’ Alex at some point)
5. Alex definitely has quick wit, however a lot of time he just doesn’t say it (unless it’s the boys)
6. Oh, that’s just hurtful thinking about that. After they passed Bobby was never the same, especially since everything that he loved and did had so many memories of the boys that for the longest time he couldn’t do some of them without thinking of them. Also when he went to the garage he was so overwhelmed with memories and the fact that they would never be anymore Sunset Curve memories.
8. Yes, I love that so much. Also I think part of the reason why the police alerted Emily and Mitch was because Luke was supposed to be a missing person so once Bobby confirmed that the body was Luke’s that’s when they were reached out too (long shot but just thinking)
The Rubik’s cube aw, maybe that’s the one thing that Bobby took just to remember them (a drawing of Reggie’s and a small jigsaw of Alex’s)
10. The theme park idea is genius, and I love the detail of Reggie feeling like a proud parent although the boys would gladly go onto a ride that Reggie is comfortable with (for some reason he loves roller coasters as long as they up closer to the ground, with being afraid of heights definitely not not something that goes up high). However Reggie doesn’t want to be a problem and has no issue watching them for a ride or two, hence the feeling of being like a parent.
Yes, and although Alex can tell that it’s a lie, Reggie gets rather emotional about it. (Reggie might have been the one who gave him the drink with the 6 shots of toffee nut and burst out into tears upon realizing)
11. That’s exactly what they are like, I feel like people may be able to tell that Reggie is lying however that’s a normal thing that he does so he easily could not be. (He is)
Luke “where is your kitchen by the way?” Patterson is the great thing I’ve seen. (yes Bobby is so causal to a point that it’s very obvious that it’s not causal hence for it being easy to tell that he’s lying)
13. Phew, wasn’t sure if I would be able to get the link to work or not so I’m glad that it was! (They are so talented, and that is such a great drawing of Reggie in my opinion)
Line dancing, yes also they random break out into square dancing. (Also the boys in cowboy hats and cowboy boots, all the fashion, is an image that I never thought I would need in my life)
14. I’m glad that you liked it! Also yess, also I just want to see one of the boys kind of make fun of Caleb with the devil point of view (bonus points if ‘nick’ is there and has to see everything)
Also I completely forgot to comment this last time, but Reggie is a huge Johnny Cash fan and those three songs are his favorite from the artist. (They are the most played songs and whenever the other boys hear them they are so done but eventually start singing along)
15. Also just randomly has Star Wars characters in the drawing, for the longest time a small Han-solo is what he used instead of a signature.
16. Wait yes I love that. I wasn’t thinking along those lines but that’s exact what happens. Reggie would also be the one who always tried to eat the batter (as does Luke and technically they are both banned from the kitchen)
17. Oh my goodness young Alex. I completely agree with what you said, also picturing a baby Alex with frosting all over his face from baking gone wrong
19. Yes, also Reggie randomly has the boys join him for dancing in the rain (thought of that due to the fact that you said rain is relaxing so Reggie would just always want to be out in the rain but not when it’s storming)
20. This is literally it’s the mindset of anyone who meets Alex
Tumblr media
Even Willie gets on board, especially when he fell off his board (worst line I’ve ever said but Willie would be the pun making type of person)
Also if it was for anyone else then Emily and Mitch wouldn’t let them however since it’s Alex exactly as you said ‘boys let’s get in the car’
21. Yes, Alex always randomly shows up. Even has his own key for whenever he needs to stay there but no one is around, honestly Mitch doesn’t have a lot of characteristics (I mean the song is mostly focused on Luke’s mom and stuff) so him being a supportive father figure is everything
23. Agreed, I want all of this. Honestly anything and everything Rose is needed
24. I just want more performances from both actors because they are fantastic. Also the fact that Flying Solo didn’t have Flynn singing at all was a lost opportunity to be honest. Not sure if you’ve seen lemonade mouth however with Flynn as their rapper they would be that band
Willie and Alex singing together is everything I need, just a duet needs to be in season 2. Also we were robbed of them dancing and I blame Caleb, so them dancing is also needed in season two.
Exactly, Flynn is so loyal and we need more of her (also her and Carrie moments)
25. I agree I think it took him sometime to go to therapy. (Possibly when he had Carrie just because he didn’t want to fail as a father and thought it would help him stress less about being a father, also raising a kid with no support from his friends that would’ve definitely helped out)
26. Wait yes, I want to see all of this as well. Especially him explaining his actions and apologizing, and that idea of him being their manger is brilliant. Going on with that, just like with Sunset Curve he books the gigs and stuff and Flynn is their social media manger (just because she can not be apart of the band somehow)
27. I didn’t think about that fully but yes, the fact that Julie is getting older and he’s not would definitely hurt him
28. I love those songs titles, we also have ‘if you wake me up at 4AM again it will not be nice’ ‘Bobby I don’t care how much I love your pieces if you keep leaving your yarn in random places I will scream’
30. Yes, yes, that is precisely what happens and the only way Ray should find out that the boys are ghosts. Tia Victoria does react that and her and Alex bonding is everything (also her and Willie bonding because)
31. There are so many ruined photos and Reggie being so upset about it which is exactly what causes Bobby to master the skill.
32. Alex always has about five stickers, some that are for Reggie and a handful that fans also give to Alex because they can. Legitimately Sunset curves fan base is so supportive and one of the best boy band fan base ever. Luke was once given a portrait of the bandmembers as animals and it is probably framed somewhere, also Bobby has one that someone painted of the band. Honestly the reason why Alex was probably given a jigsaw is because Reggie randomly said that he liked them to a fan and they just had to give one to Alex.
34. Yes, Luke also got stuck in a fridge once much to everyone’s confusion. Him randomly being in a suit of armour is the greatest thing I have ever heard
35. Willie is extremely photogenic, yes. Legitimately Reggie has so many pictures of Willie and Alex and Willie being photogenic has just cause Reggie to take even more. And once this discovery is made, on the photography account there’s a lot more photos of someone skateboarding (also just in general photos of Willie). Just photo shoots with Reggie, like everyone has had one at some point (even Carlos)
37. Alex just gives Julie a massive hug, all of the time and especially when she is sad. Also she definitely takes that hoodie, all of them take his hoodies. Legitimately by this point it’s not just Alex‘s clothes it is the bands (also Flynn has a hoodie) (Willie has takes hoodies)
39. Wait yes, (possibly could’ve been Trevor who gave Carrie that idea for costumes because he remembers when Sunset Curve did). All of those colours fit so well, also I can kind of see Bobby is yellow. They definitely have matching onesies, like two or three pairs to be honest.
Best photo ever, that is exactly what they look like
40. Alex teaching Willie how to dance is adorable and I’m just thinking about how cute that would be. Due to seeing Willie dance during ‘the other side of Hollywood’ Alex thinks that he would be able to waltz pretty well (at least be a better beginner than the rest of the band who can’t dance) and then is mistaken very quickly
This is just me saying the boys about 100 times because I can’t say three names together apparently 😂😂
You know the drill, under the keep reading 😂
I did manage to do my school work thankfully! We won’t mention the fact that I handed in every single piece late, but I don’t really think that’s my fault, it’s theirs for not explaining how all this was going to work. Anyway! Not the point! I keep getting so excited to respond to these lmao let’s gooo!
1. Yeah exactly, he was probably more concerned with just finding something to hold all his random bits and pieces. Or I just thought right now it could be like not just a “normal box” but maybe like an old case for his bass? Like he got a nice newer one and needed something to do with the older one, and it had locks so that was handy, so he just uses it for that. Or another type of less boring box maybe idk
2. Lmao yeah I laughed so hard when I came up with it and I like I totally think he would! Like if he couldn’t find real Bobby photos (I reckon there weren’t many anyway) then he just got those and Bobby was like “Reggie that baby looks nothing like me” and Reggie just shrugs like “close enough”
3. Yeah exactly! As if he’s only just starting to make the box and is putting whatever in it, not just the things that mean something
Ok now non-box-related stuff lol
2. Yesss omg I love that. They’re just in the middle of playing through a song and Alex notices that Reggie is slowly dropping out and turning distant and he stops drumming (which makes the other two stop playing as well) but before any of them can ask Reggie what’s up he just kind of explodes. Tears all round, mostly Luke because he’s so guiltily relieved it’s not just him feeling like this
3. Totally! Alex points out all the logical stuff and Luke is just frowning the whole time like a furious puppy, and when Alex is finished he just says “right Luke?” and Luke just keeps scowling but nods at him. Doesn’t work if Reggie or Bobby try it, it does work when Julie does it, and surprisingly also works when Willie does it (because Willie is really good at reading people, as seen with Alex, so he knows how to approach any situation like that)
4. Yes exactly Luke is so caring (like in ep 7 when Alex is practically attacking his drums and he just gives a quick “hey Alex you alright?”) it’s just sometimes he lets his passion get in the way, that’s usually where music comes in! And omg that’s so perfect lmaooo I live for Alex kindly telling Luke off to get him back on track I love it
5. Yeah he knows the boys won’t take him seriously but he’s more careful around other people - the first time he says something sarcastic to Julie that he meant as a joke he worries for like a split second but then she immediately comes back with something terrible (because we all know Julie is terrible at comebacks and does not have Alex’s quick wit) and from then on they have this friendly-mean banter going back and forth between them
6. Yes exactlyyy 🥺😭 I feel like he went back to the garage once and then either he couldn’t make himself go back there ever again OR he couldn’t make himself leave for a long time and stayed there alone for days on end - either way he suffered a lot, being alone with his thoughts and his guilt. He started trying to talk to the boys - like Julie talking to her mum when she runs out of the Orpheum in ep 9. “I don’t know if you can hear me guys, but I am so sorry. I’m sorry I let you down, that I wasn’t there, that I can’t make this right. I miss you so much and... I don’t know what I’m ever going to do without you.”
8. Ohhh yes that makes way more sense actually, I like that a lot! They probably just passed Bobby as he was leaving the morgue and they were coming in to see Luke and that hurts to think about actually oh god. And yesss he so took the Rubik’s Cube and for a long time he would fiddle with it when nervous; he never managed to solve it though, not even once
10. Yes definitely!! He loves rides like the Spinning Teacups (or whatever variation they have at the theme park of that ride) and it’s Luke who will sit out on that one because the spinning makes him feel ill. He’s less happy to sit out than Reggie is because he worries he’ll miss out on the fun, but he’d rather not vomit everywhere. Now it looks like I’m going off on a theme park tangent so I’m just gonna let it happen - Alex adores rides, there’s nothing he won’t go on. Like he’s unafraid even though people would expect them to hate it but he knows they’ve been tested and they’re safe so he’s more than happy to spend all day on the biggest rides. Bobby likes water-based rides and logflumes and stuff like that - they always make sure they go on those at the end of the day because they have to do it for Bobby but they don’t want to walk around soaking wet all day. Reggie likes getting/taking photos with all the dressed up mascots wandering around, Luke is thrilled by any interactive rides (except ghost trains because we’ve already established he hates horror movies and he thinks it’s like being in a horror movie), Alex also really enjoys just wandering around the big park and seeing people have a good time, and Bobby actually likes co-ordinating their day and making sure everyone gets to do what they want to
Yes I can totally see that! Like Reggie somehow didn’t know what one of his best friends was allergic to and felt so guilty afterwards. It’s a sore spot, they can’t bring it up or he’ll just start crying and hugging Alex for hours on end. Reggie will say “I’m so sorry Alex I could have killed you that day!” and Alex just goes “dude we all died anyway”
11. With Reggie it always turns into a game of “is he lying or is this actually some totally messed up thing he really did?” The most difficult time anyone’s ever had to figure it out was when he said he’d met Queen Elizabeth - like yeah it’s unlikely but it’s definitely the sort of thing Reggie would somehow accidentally do so??? (It was a lie, but not on purpose - he thought he had met her but it was just some random old lady at a store)
13. Omg yes!!! I feel like they just get bored during the day and Luke would just go “hey Reggie, come and Dosey Doe with me” and it would turn into all four of them dancing around the studio. And yes I think out of all the unlikely things I want in season 2 full cowboy outfits is very high up on my list
14. Ahskfldo YES Nick witnessing the entire thing!! Assuming lifers still can’t see the boys next season it’ll be so funny if Nick can see them because obviously he’s actually Caleb so he has to mentally restrain himself from reacting at all to them mocking him because he can’t reveal himself. So it’s just Nick shaking with anger and Julie saying “Nick? You okay?” and how biting back something mean about the boys and growling “fine” instead. And yes 100% Reggie plays those songs on repeat and the guys pretend to hate them but they can’t deny good music when they hear it so they do join in
15. THAT IS THE CUTEST THING EVER OMG THANK YOU FOR SAYING THAT! A tiny Han Solo in the corner of every piece, no matter if it’s Star Wars or not omg I love it I will never get over this
16. Yes lmao both of them are trying to sneak around Alex and duck under his arms to get at the batter and he’s just like “GUYS I am literally using an electric whisk, are you trying to get your fingers chopped off? Don’t even answer that, you’re banished from the kitchen, goodbye. Go annoy Bobby instead”
17. That is so cute omfg and like all over his clothes and in his hair. He just looks an utter mess but he’s smiling so wide and is the cutest baby ever (he was easily the cutest baby out of Sunset Curve, Reggie as a close second)
19. Wait yes I love that! Reggie’s just like “y’know it’s a lovely day outside d’you want to go dance with me” and Alex just goes “Reg it’s tipping it down. Of course” and it takes a while but Luke and Bobby eventually join them. Lots of splashing in puddles because the four of them are literal children and think it’s funny
20. That is the greatest thing ever andkdllf and I love how that was literally my reaction after episode 1 of the show too like wow Alex really is just that lovable. That pun as well I literally laughed out loud - I’ve reblogged/added to a post a while ago where I said Reggie and Willie communicate with each other only in ghost puns so I wholeheartedly support that. And exactly! If Luke suggested throwing eggs at anyone else’s house he would be sent to his room but he mentions it’s the Mercers’ and Emily just goes “I think we’re out of eggs, I’ll need to go shopping first, come on”
21. Yes omg idk why but the image of Alex having his own key is the sweetest thing ever - maybe because it symbolises him finally having a place to call home?? And yes I totally agree, Mitch doesn’t have a lot of characteristics (I wrote a massive list before where I made a load of headcanons about him because he didn’t have enough screen time lol) and he would develop so much if he took Alex under his wing
24. Omg yes you read my mind! She so should have had a verse in Flying Solo! Like thinking about it it’s totally plausible that Julie read her the poem before and Flynn, being Flynn, wanted to add her own verse about how much she loves Julie and how she’ll always be there for her! Or she could have at least like added harmonies or something?? Idk it’s just that Flynn is in the music program too and frankly I’d like to see her do a little more music. And I haven’t seen Lemonade Mouth but I did see a commentary video about it on YouTube (I think it was I’M LEMONADE MOUTH by Danny Gonzalez if you’re interested (but that might not be the title idk)) and if I’m remembering it right then YES absolutely! And yes exactly Willie would have danced with him if Caleb hadn’t made him leave! I’m still really angry about that because just think about how much fun they would have had together!!!!
25. Omg yes! I love that, I agree that it was because of Carrie being born that made him finally go. He wanted to be strong for her now that he finally had a second (third I guess?) chance at getting family life right and he knew he wasn’t in the right state of mind for it. And omg that mental image 🥺 if the boys had lived they would have been Uncle Luke, Uncle Alex, and Uncle Reggie to Carrie (and possibly even to Julie if they stayed friends with Rose too) and they would have raised her and maybe she would have grown up to be a little nicer and she and Julie and Flynn would have all stayed friends 🥺😭
26. Yes yes yes!! He gets back into his role of managing the band and even though the boys haven’t totally forgiven him he still finds himself able to write good music again and make jewellery again and he steps foot in the garage for the first time in decades because he has his band back and he feels so much happier and freer and he’s just ecstatic to have another chance!
28. Lmfao yes those are perfect! “Bobby I don’t care how much I love your pieces if you keep leaving your yarn in random places I will scream” was written after Reggie tripped over a bit of yarn that was somehow stretched all the way across the garage like a trap and when he fell he somehow managed to get totally tangled up in in
30. Omg yeah I can totally see her and Willie bonding!! I feel like Willie is kind of like an old soul and can just get along with everyone but he takes a special liking to Victoria for whatever reason and loves finding ways to talk to her
32. Yes! Sunset Curve just have the nicest, friendliest fan base and everyone is kind and respectful and all they want to do is give them stickers and fanart! Luke absolutely adores that portrait omg so Reggie and Luke would be puppies, I feel like Bobby could be a cat, and Alex would be something like an owl or something idk but they just are all captured as whatever the perfect animal for them and it’s adorable. Yeah you’re right I think Reggie just likes talking to fans and casually mentions it one day and the fans show up to the next gig with a 1000-piece puzzle for Alex
34. In a fridge omg I love it that’s brilliant. The boys laughed at him for a solid hour before helping him get out
35. Yes to all of that I love it!!! I also thought about Ray helping out - like he can’t see Reggie, but he goes along to all these photoshoots (and mostly can’t see who they’re taking pictures of either) and helps with angles and lighting and says well done to Reggie whenever he does a good job - Ray can’t see but Reggie smiles so wide at that
37. Ahsklfskdlfl yeah Alex has no hoodies left because they’ve all gone to a different band member or Flynn or Willie
39. YES OH MY GOD. When Carrie was just starting Dirty Candi she was saying about how she needed something to make them stand out and Trevor just immediately said “matching outfits, colour co-ordinated” without even thinking about it
40. Oh absolutely - but at some point Alex has to wonder if Willie is tripping so often because he can’t dance or so that Alex is forced to catch him. Willie is very eager to learn how to do lifts and stuff like that (even though it’s been years since even Alex did them) and he thinks it’ll be romantic. It is, but not because the lift is like this perfect moment, because it’s them messing up and being silly and just enjoying each other’s company 🥺
Not gonna lie this whole post might be my favourite we’ve made so far 😂

I'm shy at first but get to know me, I am a whole different person. I can be quite blunt but I know when to shut my mouth. If my man likes someone else, he better tell me instead of cheating :( I don't stand cheaters. I'm not the type to "forgive and forget" I'm pretty bitter(sorry), only sometimes though.
A pretty negative person, not gonna lie. I'm a foodie/snackie and also insecure. I am clingy... but I still need/want my freedom and space. I have a tattoo on my knee that says "everything" in the shape of a question mark, and a skull for the dot(y'know, the . at the bottom).
Absolutely not into "perfect" things or people, only sometimes though. I prefer those who has demons. I absolutely CANNOT handle people who can't admit when they're wrong, I can't find it in me. Into chill dates or exciting one or just chilling(ex. Like in the bathroom brushing our teeth while vibing to some songs <3) Loves a good comfortable silence. I bite the inside of my cheek... good or bad thing, I dunno. It relaxes me though.
I get what I want because I'm nice, but sometimes I don't because I can be a b*tch at times :/ I have dry lips because idgaf, sorry :(( I need a man that can get me the snacks anytime and anywhere because I need them. Or one of my favorite drinks, either one and I'll be nice/fine! :p I tend to suppress my own feelings and needs so I need a guy who knows me(im also selfish...). I need a honest guy who also loves me for me and would never judge me because I hurt pretty easily :((
I'm one to ask people to do my homework... and hope they do :) I'm pretty boring so my friends, etc have to be the fun one. My friends consider me bossy, I am, in a good way. I'm sensitive so people trying to teach me things will make me cry, only my teachers/professors can teach me stuff. You have to be someone I trust and is really special to teach me. I'm clumsy. I don't like compliments because I feel like I don't deserve them. If I run out of clothes I will wear others with no shame :) ahem, im sensitive. I like being a exception because it makes me feel special.
My best subject is English, but I don't think I'm good at it :/ I'm very cat-like :) Take me on a roller-coaster and I will throw up or cry and scream. Also a scaredy cat. On the outside I seem very crazy or whatever but at home I just chill. I'm a normally cool person. Please, I have so many issues and mental problems. I'm picky, yet I'm not? I can be easily entertained, sometimes. Like I can play with a string of yarn or a stick and not fall asleep from boredom. I have random hyper moments as well :)) Respect my privacy, thank you. Give me someone who doesn't mind me being weird, we can be weird together~
I wasn't raised properly. I learned most things a kid should know as a teen and also did everything myself. So I get embarrassed to do everything or anything in public/in front of someone. Practically slow and clueless :) I also don't really know myself :/
How my friend describes me: "You seem pretty straight forward and confident but at times you can be kinda shy you can also come off mean to some people but you dont realize youre being rude because thats how youve always talked. You can be generous and yes you are annoying and pushy. You also like money or expensive things." My friend kins me with: Akaashi, bit of Kenma, Nishinoya, Kageyama, Bokuto with the emo stuff
Tumblr media
Took @shoutas-kitten info and added/changed/deleted a few things, with Luna's permission! (sorry im just not creative enough :( but i tried adding a few thing)
I hope we can be friends! Just know we're not gonna talk a lot because I'm pretty dry :( but I'll always support you <3 (also im not the brightest person, legit)

Not-Fancy Dates To Take The Boys On
The skelebros’ favorite not-fancy dates. Dedicated to @popatochisssp, whose writing inspired me to make this blog
UT Sans -
Late night shopping cart races. While it’s true he loves a good night’s sleep, he also enjoys staying up late on occasion if some fun times are involved. That being said, he doesn’t care much for fancy restaurants or crowded theme parks, but grocery stores are tame and full of potential entertainment material. Plus, there’s a sort of giddy feeling he gets seeing a place that’s usually full of people so empty. It’s a strange sort of giddy, bordering on fear. Like when you ride a roller coaster.
Ideally, the date consists of pushing each other in carts (he’ll urge you to make the “nyoom” noise when you push him) eating free samples (he brought disguises you can sneak extras) and goofing off in the kid toy section until you get asked to leave. Then he’s content to loiter in the parking lot, staring up at the stars with your hand in his.
UT Papyrus -
Fashion show! Like Sans, Pap’s ideal date happens in a store. However, he prefers unique clothing stores or big bustling malls. They’re so exciting! You better believe he’s bringing a boom box full of fashion-montage beats. You pick outfits for each other to try on and take tons of pictures. Papyrus is full of compliments the whole time, praising how well you wear each outfit and how this one scarf brings out the color of your cheeks when you blush. Compliment him back and he’ll be beaming the rest of the day.
You two usually don’t end up buying anything. If you see something you really like, Papyrus will look for ways to improve the design and you something similar but better (usually covered in flames) because let’s face it, clothes are expensive, and there’s no need to spend all that money when it’s more fun (and usually cheaper) to sew something. After the date, he takes you to get smoothies.
UF Sans -
At first, UF Sans tried to take you to one of those couples pottery classes. He was quick to get annoyed with the teacher, though, and you ended up leaving early. Now craft dates are held in his garage. He tries to mix up what you do, getting clay for sculpting and modgepodge for greeting cards, but when it’s his turn to choose the craft you two end up tinkering with car parts or making something more practical than knick-knacks or post cards. He likes to feel productive, and he likes using his hands.
He won’t ever say it, but he loves when you ask him for help. Not in a creepy way — he respects your independence and loves to see you thrive on your own — but if you ask his expertise on something you’re making it boosts his confidence and makes him feel useful. He loves when he gets to sit behind you and help position your hands the right way, murmuring directions in your ear as he walks you through steps.
UF Papyrus -
While this man definitely appreciates a classy resturant, UF Papyrus can’t resist the allure of a cozy bookshop. The smell of coffee and paper soothes him, and even such a loud guy can appreciate the quiet. The date usually starts with pastries and fancy coffee. He likes to impress you with his super refined coffee taste (you can tell by the look on the barista’s face he orders something simple in a complicated and round-about way) and depending on what you order he’ll make a teasing comment about your sweet tooth. By the third date, he knows your order by heart.
Usually Papyrus will give you time to look around by yourself while he writes in his journal. Or you can sit beside him and read yourself, or write. But he enjoys the quiet moments between you two when you just enjoy each other’s presence.
By far his favorite part of the date is the journey to the romance section. He grabs some classics off the shelf and looooooms close to you, lowering his voice and reading off some of the sweetest words you’ve heard. He is absolutely preening and puffing with pride once he’s got you blushing. Get him back by reciting a love poem to him. Make sure it’s super corny and tooth-rottingly sweet. He will be the blushiest boy.
US Sans -
Gym dates or park dates. Really, any date where you two can burn up some energy. He enjoys roller skating and treadmill dancing, so expect him to show off. Boy can also lift like no one’s business. If you’re not particularly sporty, no worries! He’s happy to lead you in some yoga or just take a walk with you. He also finds pushing you on the swing irresistibly romantic, the nerd.
It’s important to say that while he’ll encourage you on these dates, he’ll never push your limits. If you don’t feel comfortable in a gym that’s fine, and if you can’t keep up with his excessive amount of energy he understands. As far as dates go, he’s super flexible and accommodating. You want a chill picnic? Perfect! He knows the spot. You prefer an arcade over the roller rink? No worries, watch him destroy his high score on Dance Dance Revolution! Overall, his main focus is showing you a good time.
US Papyrus -
You might just be surprised by the amount of energy US Papyrus has on your date. It’s by no means as intense as his brother’s idea of a workout, but he enjoys exploring the outdoors. Impromptu dates happen quite often, as he has a habit of staring out of the window, and if he sees a bird he needs in his journal he’ll ask if you’re up for an adventure. He has an impressive collection of drawings and pressed leaves in his book. Once you come along, he’ll also pick flowers and thread them in your hair.
If you two are going on a planned excursion, you’ll need boots, water, snacks, and a machete. Papyrus doesn’t care to follow paths, so you’ll make plenty of your own. Sometimes you go with a goal in mind (an abandoned fort he heard a rumor about, a certain type of mushroom he’s never seen before) and sometimes you just walk. He’s an excellent conversationalist, and you find talking to him feels easy and natural. You two don’t take any pictures, but Papyrus likes to sketch your adventures. You’re in all of his drawings.
SF Sans -
Given how busy SF Sans is most of the time, he actually prefers simple, easy-going dates. As much as he loves to get dressed up and show you off, taking you to fine art museums and treating you to expensive drinks, homey dates will always be his favorites. He enjoys a good game night with you. Gin rummy, bananagrams, chess. Something stimulating but not tiring (like his job.) You two often break out games and puzzles on the weekends, enjoying a dinner of delivery whatever (veggie pizza is his favorite) and whatever alchohol you can scrounge from the cabinet.
As the night goes on, the games usually turn to things like truth-or-dare and twenty questions. You play ‘never have I ever’ and take shots from those paper mouthwash cups. It’s his favorite part of the week. He gets to unwind with you, and he doesn’t even have to drive anywhere. He doesn’t even have to wear pants! He is honestly so relieved to be out of his royal guard uniform you do not even know. He insists pajamas are necessary for maximum date coziness (plus you look adorable and extra soft.) The date ends with you falling asleep on top of each other.
SF Papyrus -
Blanket fort dates. Look, SF Papyrus is... not fancy. Please don’t make him be fancy. He’s depressed and has little energy, so this is the perfect date for him. Crowds overwhelm him and he already has a tendency to nest, plus you two can fall asleep all cuddled up. He also puts a lot of effort in the blanket fort. Fresh-baked cookies, fairy lights, teddy bears, the works. He makes them functional and beautiful, and you always get to pick the movies. Often times he feels like he should be able to take you on a better date, even if you insist this is more than fine, so he tries to make everything extra perfect to show you he cares and is willing to put work into your relationship.
Papyrus also has an old record player he’ll set up on these dates. Once you two start to wind down for the evening he’ll put on a gentle tune and gather you up in his arm, cuddling you to his chest as he sings. His voice is soft and warm, just a bit scratchy, and you can smell something smoky and sweet on his teeth. He massages your head until you fall asleep.
HT Sans -
At the end of every month the community holds a farmer’s market, and every month Sans takes you on a farmer’s market date. Usually crowds make him nervous, but this is a decidedly tiny meet-up, mostly consisting of people just trying to get by, people trying to continue a family tradition, people just starting out in their passion, that sort of thing. To your surprise, Sans isn’t as reserved as usual the first time he takes you to the market. He cracks jokes, talks to vendors, buys a kid a yarn doll. Deep down, he’s a real people-person who loves to see others smile.
The people at the farmer’s market love you. They coo over what a cute couple you and Sans are. You’re offered a free sample of organic lotion and collect some soup recipes. A little kid introduces you to their teddy bear. One lady tells you about what a joy Sans is, how he always buys something from each of the vendors, encouraging them and giving them hope. They’re so glad the two of you are happy together.
You look forward to the end of every month.
HT Papyrus -
Gardening dates, all the way. On the surface gardening quickly becomes a passion of HT Papyrus. The king and queen used to garden, he tells you, planting golden flowers next to a patch of tulips. And isn’t gardening lovely? It’s an endless circle of food, it looks pretty, and plants are such good listeners. You are also a good listener and very pretty, he tells you. You blush. He puts a hand over yours, helping you pat the soil down nice and snug.
Papyrus has a green thumb, you find out. He’s attentive to the needs of the different types of plants, and is patient while waiting for things to grow. He encourages his plants constantly (“you can do it, I believe in you, you’re the loveliest vine!”) One day you two set up an irrigation system, and between figuring out how much water should go where and how to adjust the system for when it’s time to rotate crops, you two became so very confused. Stumped, you laid in the sun, tossing solutions back and forth. You were growing frustrated, but when you looked to Papyrus he was smiling. When you asked him why, he simply replied he hasn’t been this excited to solve a puzzle in a very, very long time.
You smiled back at him.

Learn to weave on a loom with Josefina
Tumblr media
In honor of Josefina’s birthday being celebrated this month, she and I collaborated on a craft project that I’m really excited to teach everyone how to do!
Josefina’s stories revolve a lot around weaving. She and her sisters do it daily, weaving blankets for trading at the market in Santa Fe and at the nearby pueblo. It’s a challenging learning process for the sisters, but they learn to enjoy it and take pride in this ancient and practical art form. Valerie Tripp was very wise to include this in her stories, because weaving is still very popular in New Mexico today, and some families still continue the tradition of making and selling handwoven blankets in the Rio Grande style, just like the Montoyas did 200 years ago. You’ll see them sold all over northern New Mexico.
Josefina is posing above next to her Navajo-style loom, which she learned how to weave on, since a larger loom is too large for a younger child.
Tumblr media
Here she is getting her blanket started.
Tumblr media
Maybe you recognize her yarn? We dyed it naturally with onion skins as part of a craft tutorial for Dollidays 2018! See that here.
Tumblr media
We’ll see more of her blanket later, when she finishes, but today we are teaching you with a much smaller, more manageable project. This craft was included in the back of the short story book “Josefina’s Song”, as an easy kids’ craft to connect you to the story. But that project has you weaving on a loom made out of notched cardboard; I find that to be too flimsy for any project larger than a coaster.
So instead, we are using an easy-to-make peg loom that you can make out of a few simple materials! You can use heavy cardboard in a pinch, but I like the sturdiness of wood much better.
Tumblr media
Let’s get started.
You need:
A picture frame
A marker
A ruler
Nails
A hammer
Lots of yarn in whatever colors you choose
A weaving needle with a large eye, or a bent paperclip
A fork, plastic or metal.
A very slender piece of wooden dowel (optional)
To save time, we are making a scarf for Kirsten instead of a blanket. A doll-sized scarf is a good place to start since longer projects might feel tedious and you’ll give up before you’re done.
For your frame, it should be proportionate to the project you want to do.
Tumblr media
Mine is 12 by 18 inches, which is perfect for a doll blanket or a scarf.
Now take your marker and ruler, and mark out a straight line on the short (the 12 inch) side of the frame. That will make my scarf 18 inches long. If I were making a blanket, it would be 12 inches wide. Use the ruler to mark it at quarter-inch intervals.
Tumblr media
Hammer in nails at each mark. Don’t hammer them all the way in; leave some protruding to make a peg.
Tumblr media
I hot-glued mine for extra stability, so they wouldn’t wiggle around. This is optional for you.
Now do the same thing on the opposite side: mark the quarter inch intervals and hammer nails in the marked places.
Once that’s done on both sides, now it’s time to add your warp. The warp is the yarn that goes up and down. Choose a side to be the top. Loop and knot the yarn around either the first nail in the row if you’re using the entire loom, or in the middle if you’re making a scarf. Tie the knot tight!
Tumblr media
Pull the yarn tight and bring it all the way down to the exact opposite peg on the bottom row. Keep it tight!
Tumblr media
Bring the yarn around the peg and back up to the top. Loop it around the next peg, like so.
Tumblr media
Keep going down and back until your warp is the width you want. For a scarf, do this for only a few pegs. For a blanket, use all the pegs.
Tumblr media
Your yarn should be nice and taut! If it’s loose, it’ll make weaving much more difficult.
Tumblr media
Let’s begin to weave.
To make it move a little faster, you can insert a thin dowel through the yarn in an under-over pattern, to help keep your yarn separated and make it easier to move the needle through the gaps. Thread it through, going over the first warp and under the second one.
That’s what I’ll be doing here, although you don’t have to do it. Either way, the weaving will happen.
Tumblr media
I highly recommend using a weaving needle. It’s a needle with a blunt tip and a large eye, to allow you to pass thick yarn through.
Tumblr media
If you can’t find one, just bend a paperclip straight, then make a loop at the end to knot your yarn around. But I do strongly suggest you seek out a needle like this, for ease of use.
Take your yarn and pass it through your warp, in an under-over pattern. Pass your yarn over the first warp thread, under the second, over the third, under the fourth. And so on, until you come out the other side. This horizontal weaving is your weft.
Tumblr media
Then loop it around and on the next row, do the exact OPPOSITE pattern as you did for the first row: go under the first warp thread, over the second, under the third, and so on.
Tumblr media
Pull it gently through. Don’t pull this too tight, or your warp will buckle inward at the edges.
Push the weft down with the fork.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
For the third row, repeat the same pattern as the first row: over the first thread, under the second, and so on. Alternate every row. Push down with the fork on every row so each weft lies flush with the previous one. Pack it in tightly! You cannot make it too tightly packed. This will keep it held together.
Tumblr media
When you come to the end of a piece of yarn, let it hang out an inch over the side, as seen above. Then start your next row. When you loop that yarn around, loop it around the loose piece of yarn, as I’ve done here:
Tumblr media
As you push down your rows of weft, the overhanging yarn will be packed in so tightly that you can eventually cut it off.
Tumblr media
You can also incorporate other colors! I’m making rows of white in the ends of the scarf. Just start weaving with the new color once you come to the end of the other color yarn.
Tumblr media
You can also make side-by-side alternating colors. I did this to make the little white heart in my scarf, but didn’t get a picture of it, so here’s how the book shows the method:
Tumblr media
Keep weaving until you’re at the very end. Then lift the weaving off the pegs. Thread a bit of yarn through the loops.
Tumblr media
Knot the end. You can add fringe by tying small pieces through the loops.
All done!
Tumblr media
This is a gift for Kirsten, so let’s see if she likes it.

HEAD TO TOES!! 😘
LONG BOI
Head: How do you like to wear your hair? What hairstyles do you find attractive? Have you ever wanted to do something drastic to your face/hair? What’s your favorite part of your face?
Oh when it’s not an absolute bird’s nest I love wearing my hair down because it make me look hot
I don’t think I find specific hairstyles attractive? It depends on the person wearing the hairstyle you feel me
I’ve always wanted to dye my hair red or platinum blonde but MONEY
I’d say my eye color is the only good part of my face lol
Ears: What’s your favorite music genre? Do you have any piercings? Favorite non musical sound?
Literally anything that makes me feel. Genre who?
I used to have my ears pierced but when I was in color guard/winter guard we weren’t supposed to have piercings in so they healed
RAIN
Eyes: What’s your favorite color? Time of day, aesthetically? Animal you find the prettiest? What do you find attractive in a person?
Purple!!!!!!!
I enjoy me a sunset that sets the sky on fire. Also is nap time an aesthetic?
All animals are beautiful you absolute fool
POWER I find a lot of traits attractive in a person but kindness!!! is the number one thing that determines if I find a person attractive or not also power
Nose: What’s your favorite smell? Least favorite? What scent do you find comforting? Is there an outdoorsy smell that appeals to you? (beaches, pine trees, sand, ect.) Boop? Y/N
So many smells!! Some perfumes/colognes, cooking food, that just-out-of-the-shower smell, COFFEE, I could go on
Ever smelled rotten food because that shit makes me want to die on the spot
The smell of yarn always gets me nostalgic because my grandma loves to crochet
I love the smell of the ocean!! That’s some Good Mist
MM YES BOOP
Mouth: Do you have a favorite taste? Least? Do you like kisses? How do you feel about teeth? Do wear lipstick? What’s your favorite shade?
I can’t get enough sweets my pal and it’s probably what’s going to kill me. Anything sweet. Just give me the sweets. Also did I mention coffee
I can’t think of anything because I don’t eat what I don’t like and I can’t determine what’s the worst lol
WHO DOESN’T LIKE KISSES
I notice teeth way too much and for some reason people who have too-perfect or too-white teeth make me feel threatened. Don’t ask why because I have no idea
I never wear lipstick, only if it didn’t get EVERYWHERE
Blood red just screams power and is obligated to be my favorite
Neck: Where are you most sensitive? How deep is your voice? Do you like your voice? Can you sing?
My heart Neck and ears probably are the most sensitive because those are the places that go the most untouched I guess?
My voice is not very deep at all
I’d like it better if I could change it at will to scare off creeps
Boy do I love to sing but can I? Who knows!!
Shoulders: Do you consider yourself to be easily stressed out?
I’M STRESSED OUT AS WE SPEAK
Arms: Are you strong, physically? Do you think you give good hugs?
I got them noodle arms so no. I am not.
Hugs!! I’d like to say I give good hugs because I love hugs
Wrists: Do you wear a lot of jewelry? What kind? Is there a certain type of jewelry that you just can’t stop getting?
I only wear one necklace and it’s the one my best friend gave me and they’re a matching pair because we’re romantic like that. Other than that I don’t wear jewelry because I lose everything too easily unless it’s given to me by someone really important
Hands: Are you artsy? Do you play any sort of instrument? Do you draw? Do you write? Do you have soft hands? Do your hands ever idle or do you always have to be doing something with them?
I leave the artsiness to My Art Friend
Is mayonnaise an instument
Once again THE ART FRIEND DOES THE ART NOT MOI
Gosh I used to write all the time and I still like doing it occasionally but I do it so rarely now I think I’m losing the ability asdjaosdj
I’ve been told many times that my hands are soft are so they must be
It depends on if I’m feeling stressed. I will play with the buttons and zipper on my jackets til the end of time if this is the case
Fingers: Do you paint your nails? Are they painted now? What color?
I haven’t painted my nails in so long oh gosh, they chip way too easily. I love painted nails though
Chest: Where do you feel safest? What comforts you the most? How do you usually calm down?
I feel safest probably in the presence of people I trust
My cat child is honestly one of the most comforting things. She could be a demon sometimes but I love her
I usually pop in my headphones and hope to calm down but it’s 50/50 that it actually works
Stomach: What’s your favorite thing to eat? What gives you butterflies? Have you ever been on a roller coaster? Do you have any food allergies?
Like food food? I love pasta so much oh my god
Me BOY
I have and hope to go on every roller coaster possible in this life
I’m sensitive to milk but I love it so much I will FIGHT THROUGH THE PAIN DAMMIT
Hips: Do you put your hands on your hips a lot? Do you close doors and things with your hips? Can you dance? Have you tried?
I’m like a goddamn mom I put my hands on my hips so much
Yeah buddy I sure do use my hips to close things. Why are drawers hip level if they weren’t made for hip-smacking
NO I CANNOT I have no idea why they let me dance competitively
DON’T MAKE ME DANCE IN PUBLIC AND WITHOUT CAREFULLY PRACTICED CHOREOGRAPHY TRUST ME I’VE TRIED
Back: What position do you sleep in? Got any tattoos?
If I’m tired I can sleep in a freaking chair. But I usually fall asleep on my stomach or turned toward the wall regardless of which side it’s on
I’m a baby with a low pain tolerance so I have no tattoos but I hope one day I can get one or two
Butt: Ever really hurt yourself slipping on something? Ever accidentally sit on something you really wish you hadn’t?
YES just off of the top of my head I’ve slipped wearing roller blades and slammed into a table resulting in some nasty bruising
YES I’ve sat on gum and cake and probably more things because I’m too trusting of chairs apparently
Legs: Are you a strong runner? How flexible are you? Do you consider yourself to be a clumsy person? Have you ever broken a bone?
I hate running so no
I’m actually pretty flexible, but I used to be more so when I danced. I sticky my leggy up in the air almost every time I sit down at home
I am very clumsy, my family likes to tell stories of how I literally just fall out of nowhere. I have no excuse
Luckily no and hopefully it stays that way
Ankles: Do you feel like you have enough support? What would you consider a weak spot, physical or mental? Have you ever broken something on purpose? (Smashed a window, knocked over a lamp, ect.)
Maybe? I feel like people support me but I don’t feel it that much because most of the people I know and love are two states away
Both are pretty weak man. I can only lift things out of spite and I tend to overthink and all that bad stuff A LOT
I have never broken anything on purpose, I’m not a violent person and I have strong feelings against people who break things out of anger or for fun
Feet: Do you ever go outside barefoot? Do you like slippers? Have you ever stepped on a lego or something similarly bad?
Not in the winter but I’m barefoot pretty much at all times when its warm outside
I LOVE slippers in fact I have a pair that say “More Coffee” that were gifted to me by my bff
I’ve stepped on a needle before. You’ve not experienced fear until you lift your foot and see a needle halfway in your freaking foot
Toes: Are you a risk taker? How tall are you? What’s the worst thing you’ve ever stubbed your toe on? Can you pick things up with your feet?
I am definitely not a risk taker, I am shy and nervous at all times
5′3 and a half now I think?
Door frames are the absolute worst thing to stub your toe on and I do it way too often. I’m surprised I still have all my toes
I pick up thinks with my feet all the time because I’m lazy and bending down is much more effort than I want to put into picking up dropped items

5. DIY Prism Light Candle
diyjoy
I just saw these for sale on Amazons new site, handmade. Beautiful scatter candles like this cast amazing shadows when lit. Make them with mason jars and glass stones from the dollar store. You will need some patience when it comes to letting the glue dry (dont use a glue gun, as candles melt the glue right off!) but these can be made in all sorts of colors. I found blue, green, red, gold and clear glass rocks to try out. These photograph really well, which is super important when it comes to selling online. The colorful stones cast the most lovely shadows when the candlelight passes through them. Your Etsy shop needs these this holiday season. Try making your own DIY prism candle holder and see for yourself.

Pick up some inexpensive zippers in bulk and you will soon be in business with this best selling DIY idea.

diyprojectsforteens
Looking for easy things to make and sell? Bath bombs are super popular right now, thanks to stores like Lush that sell fabulous ones. Making homemade bath bombs may look tricky, but I promise you it is not. Mix, mold and package your goods, then sell them with cute wrapping and tags. I added essential oils to scent my bath bombs and some natural food safe dye I picked up at Whole Foods. The lavender colored bath bombs with a light purple hue are my best seller, but you can craft lots of cool combinations with this basic but versatile DIY bath bomb recipe.
8. Faux Leather Pencil Cup
transientexpression
The look of all white decor is super popular right now, so when it come to items to sell, making those that follow a trend tend to always be top sellers. With Christmas coming up soon, DIY gifts are in high demand, or rather handmade gifts people can give when they dont have the time to make anything themselves. Get busy crafting this creative office decor item for your Etsy shop. You can make them in white leather, but also any other color you like. Offering a desk set would be a great idea to increase sales. Dont you think? Make some extra money for your holiday shopping with these creatively cool pencil cups. One of my favorite Pinterest home decor crafts, you are sure to sell lots of these cool DIY desk accessories.
9. No Sew Market Tote Bag
marthastewart
After my city passed an ordinance that bans plastic bags at grocery stores, I got crafty with my own shopping bags. After making several different kinds, I noticed people kept complimenting this one in particular, and for good reason. Look how cute it is just hanging on the door. Anything that doubles as a cute home decor accessory while still being functional makes me super happy. If you want something easy to make and sell, this craft is perfect. Cheap and doable even for the beginning DIYer, these colorful bags photograph well, are lightweight and easy to ship. You can package them in an envelope and dont even need to deal with shipping boxes and odd weights, either.

How to Organize Beads and Jewelry Findings
The new year is always a good time to clean up and get organized, and there are few things I love more than neat and organized craft supplies! I decided it was time to tackle my messy stash of beads and jewelry supplies, and today I’m going to share what I did to organize all of my beading and jewelry supplies. Follow along for my bead storage organizing tips!
In the past my bead and jewelry organization has mostly consisted of a couple of shoe boxes stuffed full (overflowing, honestly) with baggies containing all the beads and findings I have collected over the years.
It was definitely time to retire that “system,” and when I saw this awesome craft organizer, I knew it was just the thing to help me out!
Bead storage organization supplies:
Craft Organizer Bag (I used the Pink organizer, but it also comes in Turquoise and Black)
Adhesive Vinyl, Electronic Cutting Machine, Weeding Hook, and Transfer Tape
OR Letter Stickers
A whole bunch of Beads and Jewelry Findings
The front of the craft organizer bag zips all the way open to reveal five stacked storage boxes perfect for holding beads, jewelry findings, and other small craft supplies.
Step One. Add Labels.
I added labels to each of my storage boxes to help me keep things sorted and easy to find.
You can either create your own custom labels using vinyl and a cutting machine or you could also used letter stickers.
To make your own vinyl labels with a Silhouette or Cricut, you will need to do the following:
Design your labels in your cutting machine’s design software.
Cut the labels from adhesive vinyl.
Remove the excess vinyl from around your design.
Pick the label up using transfer tape and apply to the front of the storage box.
Step Two. Fill Organizer.
After your boxes are labelled, it’s time to fill them up! I used three boxes to hold all my beads. One box for large plastic pony beads, one for wooden beads, and the last one for everything else.
The two remaining boxes were left to hold jewelry findings like jump rings, clasps, and more.
I love how easy these containers make it to find the beads I’m looking for quickly without having to dig through my entire stash.
Finally, I placed all of my other beading and jewelry making supplies (cords, chains, pliers, etc.) in the velcro pouches on the sides of the bag and the elastic loops in the top flap.
And that’s it! I am loving this bag! It is so nice to have all of my beading and jewelry supplies all in one place.
Hope this bead storage post gives you some ideas and inspiration for organizing your craft supplies!

It’s that time of the year again! Even though I’m not a big fan of winter, I definitely love the holiday season. I’m like a big kid who wants to decorate her Christmas tree the second Halloween is over. I love all the holiday vibes around and especially enjoy gift shopping for my loved ones. This doesn’t mean finding the perfect gifts is an easy task in my book. It’s never easy yet fun! Today I wanted to share some of my favorite gift ideas for kids. I like fun, quality, and educational gifts that can keep little ones’ attention for quite some time, and found all of the below-mentioned ones competitively priced at Kohl’s. Have a look at my top picks:
Gift idea #1. LEGO Classic in a Suitcase
You can’t go wrong with a classic LEGO set. The one featured below consists of 213 pieces and comes with an illustrated booklet showing some creative things you can make with it. It’s also a great addition to any themed LEGO sets you might have. Last August, I took Isabelle to the flagship LEGO store in Manhattan where we picked a couple of Disney-themes LEGO sets for her birthday. Those are beautiful but a little bit too complicated for my 4-year-old at the moment. This time around I tried this classic LEGO set, and it was a hit! As a mom, I especially appreciate the durable suitcase to keep everything organized once the play time is over. The suitcase is quite roomy and comes with adjustable dividers to sort all pieces by colors or sizes. I’m always on a mission to keep our house clean and organized as much as possible and to teach Isabelle to clean up after herself so this set in a suitcase is my top pick. It’s also very convenient to take with you when you are visiting friends or relatives to keep your kid busy.
Recommended for ages 4 years and up.
Buy: LEGO Classic Creative Suitcase
Gift idea #2. For a Crafter
This gift is something that will encourage creativity and patience for years. Melissa & Doug weaving loom is quite large in size and is very easy to use. It comes with a large wooden needle that substitutes a shuttle, 2 skeins of rainbow yarn to create fun and possibly wearable art from scarfs to bags, and colorful strips to create three tapestry projects. I like that even though it’s a kids’ loom, it’s made of solid wood and allows you to create projects in various sizes. It’s probably a little complicated for my 4-year-old at the moment but I’m planning to introduce it again next year. One thing I have in mind is to start with using fabric stripes instead of knitting yarn to make our first projects easier to complete.
Recommended for ages 6 years and up.
Buy: Melissa & Doug Multi-Craft Weaving Loom
Gift idea #3. For Future Hair Stylist
Do you have a future hair stylist or makeup artist on your hands? Make sure to check out this cool Disney princess styling doll head. The set includes rubber bands, earrings, hair clips, ribbons, tiara, mirror brush, and a water applicator that can change Belle’s lips and eyelids color. There is also a built-in storage space underneath the head to keep all accessories organized. I secretly thank Disney every time I see this doll head because finally, nobody is trying to “style” my hair by pulling and rubbing them. You would probably have to help your little one with brushing the doll’s hair the first time around since it comes with her hair being styled and set with a hairspray. After that, your little ones are good to play on their own!
Recommended for ages 3 years and up.
Buy: Disney Princess Belle Majestic Styling Head
Gift idea #4. Educational puzzles
Sometime last year, Isabelle received a small Minnie Mouse puzzle in a goody bag. She was meticulously putting it together for a good half an hour until she was done. That puzzle is definitely outgrown by now, and I wanted to get something else that would interest her. If you know that your child likes puzzles, definitely have a look at educational Melissa & Doug puzzles. The ones that got my attention are the USA map puzzle, the world map puzzle, and the one showing our solar system. I like that those are not just some random pictures but actually something to learn along the way and discuss once a puzzle is completed.
Recommended for ages 4-6 years and up (the solar system puzzle is the easiest puzzle; the world puzzle is the most challenging one).
Buy: Melissa & Doug 33-pc. World Map Floor Puzzle, Melissa & Doug USA Map Floor Puzzle, Melissa & Doug Solar System Floor Puzzle
Gift ideas #5. For a Little Helper
Have you ever noticed how little kids are always eager to grab your kitchen mop and clean up if there is a mess? Don’t stop them! Encourage your little helper to help you more by getting them their own cleaning tools. You’ll thank yourself later. This Melissa & Doug cleaning play sets will be loved for quite a long time. I’d say it’s especially a must if your little one has a play kitchen.
Recommended for ages 3 years and up.
Buy: Melissa & Doug Dust, Sweep & Mop Set, Melissa & Doug Spray, Squirt & Squeegee Play Set
Gift idea #6. Play Cash Register
I like pretend play toys in general, and cash registers are one of my favorite ones. Whenever we go to kids museums, it looks like cash registers at play stores are always in demand. Playing pretend store is fun and also a great opportunity to teach your little one numbers and basic math. The cash register shown on the left features a working calculator, a functional scanner, a receipt dispenser with stickers, and a working microphone.
Recommended for ages 3 years and up.
Buy: Disney’s Mickey Mouse Cash Register, Disney’s Minnie Mouse Shop N’ Scan Talking Cash Register
Gift idea #7. For Future Veterinarian
Do you have a little animal lover? If yes, what about care and grooming set? This deluxe play set by Melissa & Doug includes plush toys, grooming and vet tools, as well as a storage tote to keep everything in place.
Recommended for ages 3 years and up.
Buy: Melissa & Doug Deluxe Pet Vet – Care & Grooming Play Set
Gift idea #8. Training Bike
This is a great bike to learn how to ride. It features turbo grip gauge that lights up when revved, a racing shield and two pad set, a colorful tire tread, coaster and front hand brakes and comes with adjustable training wheels. This is the bike that your boy will love and use.
Recommended for ages 4 to 7 years.
Buy: Hot Wheels 14-in. Bike
Gift idea #9. Auto-lift Expressway Set
This set is a pure fun for both boys and girls. It reminds me those vintage railroad sets where train never stops but with a modern twist. Kids can race their cars down and watch as they pass fun activation points, like tollgates and short-cut diverters along the route. When the cars finally reach the bottom, the elevators instantly take them on a return trip to the top so the fun never ends! This set comes with 5 cars.
Recommended for ages 5 years and up.
Buy: Hot Wheels Auto-Lift Expressway Set
Gift idea #10. Chef’s Play Kitchen.
If you don’t have one, get it. I like that this Melissa & Doug kitchen comes in neutral brown. It’s wooden and presents a sturdy construction for years to enjoy. To add the realistic feel, the kitchen features oven and stovetop have dials that turn, a microwave with a turning plate, a refrigerator with ice maker and freezer, its sink has a moving faucet and handle, and there is quite a lot of storage for all the kitchen utensils your kid might have.
Recommended for ages 4 to 8 years.
Buy: Melissa & Doug Chef’s Play Kitchen
You can also find a fin collection of Fisher Price toys at Kohl’s.
