[ ๐ฐ๐š๐ซ๐ฆ๐ญ๐ก ] : sender drapes a coat / cape / etc. around receiver's shoulders.
It's a thoughtless gesture, almost, swirling the cloak from his shoulders and tucking it over hers instead. Never mind that they no longer look one another in the eye at level, that the edges of the cloak drift against the snowy ground or that the fur ruff threatens to envelop her much slimmer shoulders.
He almost has to laugh at the redness of her nose and cheeks, a vibrant match to her house colors. Blowing his breath into his hands a bit, Dimitri crosses his arms. "Come, we shouldn't stay out in this too long. Let's find somewhere to escape the elements, if only for a moment - I may be more used to this than you are, but I'm still only human, aren't I?"
For once, she isn't prepared. The frigid cold bites at her skin and claws at her knees. Edelgard shivers and shakes, much to her chagrin. She loathes for others to see her in such a state no matter how hard she attempts to downplay the weather's cruel tactics.
Perhaps it is the void in conversation that offers a cue, or maybe it is merely her body actions calling out for themselves. Without waiting for a response, Dimitri aids her. There are many reasons he may have thought of its necessity. Obligation? Merely to get on her good side for the sake of their respective lands? Friendship? No, that cannot be so. Edelgard's lips pout as her fingers glide over its carefully crafted composition. It feels unbefitting for her form, but she does not remove it. The wrinkles on her furrowed brow deepen with an admittance of its need.
"Heh. Indeed.. You are human," she finally says. He is human as much as sheโ€” Heirs to their respective forms, destinies unbeknownst to even she. He, too, is a person thrust into this unforgiving world. While she moves to look him in the eyes, Edelgard wonders how many more times she will be able to do this. One, two, three? Four, if the cruelties of Fรณdlan do not snatch them away beforehand. In another world, she thinks the tides of ally-ship could last a second longer. The obligatory waves are cruel; Edelgard is destined far away. "It appears I can no longer hide how cold I really am.." The shivers pause; her expression downcast. "I hate to admit it, but I'd much prefer finding warmth sooner rather than later. Only then can I carry on properly."
She begins to walk forwardโ€” Once in front, only this time directly next to.

I know you said RWBY ships but I would love to hear your thoughts on Dimivain, Dimiashe and Dimiclaude. Dimitri deserves to kiss boys I think.
IM SO HIGH RN AND IM LOSING MY MIND YOU HAVE MADE MY FUCKING NIGHT IM ROLLING AROUND AND SCREAMING YES YES YES YES YES DIMITRI FIRE EMBLEM MY BELOVED
DIMIVAIN: LITERALLY MY FE3H OTP....
i like. i cant even begin to put into words how much i care about dimivain. these two self destructive men raised the same exact way but are so intelligent and caring and *aware* like sylvain is so so whipsmart and hes so protective of others and hes so loyal to *dimitri* and because dimitri cares about all of faerghus that means sylvain will do anything to protect farghus and dimitri has never had to question sylvains loyalty, dimitri who never lived in a world without sylvain, who sees his own darkness refracted through sylvain into something so damaged but so strong, so dependable.... and also they fuck nasty and have sloppy makeouts and hot prep/badboy dynamics and LORD/KNIGHT IMM GOING TO LOSE MY MINDDDDDDDDDDDD i like have to move on or i wont be able to talk about anything else sorry god okay one last thing i always cast sylvain as my dark knight and hrnnng dimitri having his physical strength from his crest but sylvains so strong and his magic protects him and theres just such TRUST between them both to keep each other alive and in line and they have both seen each other at their darkest and most vicious and and and im really cutting myself off
DIMIASHE: i ship it!
(btw i took an edible so im kinda giving up on the ask meme format but im trying) while i think i prefer yuriashe if ashe is gonna be with a lord, i can 100% stand behind dimiashe shippers. ashe is just a total sweetheart and i think he represents such an idolized notion of knighthood and faerghan ideals that i think he can really ground dimitri in a really cute healthy way, reminding dimitri that there is light and love and peace... i think dimitri/ashe/dedue is Everything
DIMICLAUDE: i ship it!
WOOOOOOWOWOWOWOW DIMICLAUDE.... the rituals are so intricate with them both, like they both have such complex feelings that i kinda think it would be hard on them both to get to that point. like dimitri is so much more self destructive while claude is self preserving to a fault and thats soooo beautiful and interesting! i like them best in modern aus because i think the baggage is a little easier for my brain to navigate in terms of them hooking up... like ough i need need need them to have sloppy makeouts at a house party ๐Ÿ˜ตโ€๐Ÿ’ซ๐Ÿ˜ตโ€๐Ÿ’ซ๐Ÿ˜ตโ€๐Ÿ’ซ
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ASKING THIS IM NOT JOKING WHEN I SAID YOU JUST MADE ME SO HAPPY .................... dimitri kissing boys ๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿฅฐ

books i read in sept 2023
Tumblr media
[these are all short + casual reviews - feel free to ask about individual ones if u want my full thoughts or ask for my goodreads!!]ย
sometimes u travel somewhere where u have a relative lot of downtime + no data and u reinvent urself as a person who reads
she who became the sun (reread) + he who drowned the world - shelley parker-chan โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜… (historical fantasy)
i reread swbts before tackling hwdtw and the way that this duology is so emotionally devastating! big win for readers who are fans of characters tearing the world apart in their grief and then realizing they cannot live in their new world! and the insane gender goodstuff, of course. ough. will think about this for a while
into the riverlands - nghi vo โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜… (fantasy)
excellent third entry to the series that felt more fun than the other two thus far - i love playing around with myths and legendmaking
[reread] raven quest - sharon stewart โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜… (adventure)
really happy to find out that this book from my childhood absolutely holds up. tightly plotted and paced and really poignant. i love animal adventures <3
the last devil to die - richard osman โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜… (mystery)
no more withholding 5*s from genre fiction!! this book made me tear up for real so even though a silly murder mystery is probably never going to change my life, we have to give credit where credit is due. the most character-focused entry of the series so far and it definitely shows!
war of the foxes - ricahrd siken โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜† (poetry)
individually less interesting but collectively more coherent than crush. it's cool to have a conversation with a bit of poetry standing in a field, and I do love a good metaphor
the paper menagerie - ken liu โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜† (sci fi short stories)
great collection to go over slowly - i suspect it might have felt a bit tedious reading it front to back in a sitting. i liked how chinese a number of the stories felt. lots of ideas to chew on!
the poisonwood bible - barbara kingsolver โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜† (historical)
i just know this book went crazy in high school english class! it has themes and motifs and characters to compare and contrast! there's so much rich ground for analysis. and also treating characters like a bizarre personality test (the avenue of entertainment i chose). fantastic book to chew on and i greatly enjoyed talking to people about it
carrie - stephen king โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜† (horror)
yeah, i get the hype! this is a book that's impossible to read divorced from how deeply it's ingrained in current popular culture, but it stands up beautifully for itself. i'd love to read more analysis of it that puts in the cultural context of the 70s
hotline - dimitri nasrallah โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜† (historical)
surprisingly kind and hopeful story, definitely lovely if you want something feel-good. i really enjoyed how the occasional french was threaded into the english, it felt very montreal to me
the monstrumologist - rick yancey โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜† (historical horror)
tremendously gory and often unsettling. i found myself surprisingly attached to the characters and all the historical affectations of the book - it's not a series that i'm itching to continue but it was a good read
hark! a vagrant - kate beaton โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜† (historical humour graphic novel)
skimmed through parts of this but it was a fun read from cover to cover. always entertaining to see the origins of some very famous internet memes and there are also some hidden gems!
dead silence - s. a. barnes โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜†โ˜† (sci fi horror)
the author writes a very good spooky ship and very mediocre everything else
the word is murder + the sentence is death + a line to kill + the twist of a knife - anthony horowitz (-โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜†โ˜†+) (mystery)
decent murder mystery series. the author self-insert is goofy, the random homophobia is persistent, but they're quick and easy reads that go down like junk food
all that's left in the world - erik j. brown โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜†โ˜† (post-apocalyptic romance)
genre-mash that just didn't quite work for me. the tonal shifts between "fluffy gay YA romance" and "the world has ended post-apocalyptic bleakness" were jarring and the book never felt like it cohered into anything meaningful
