Day 22: Muffett
(Spider time! This is from a short from this fic featuring Frisk flirting their way into a corner with an OC of mine. You can read it here.)
The car was barely a couple months old but Frisk had already done some extensive personalization. A bumper sticker of a duck saying “Quack off my bumper!” sat on the back, and from the rear-view mirror hung a red-heart necklace. It was their pride and joy in terms of material possessions.
Though now, Frisk thought, it might have a new competitor for their attention and love. It prompted Frisk to keep thinking as they pulled up to Grillby’s, dropped off Chara, and then drove to Muffett’s.
Despite all the effort, the anxiety over the thing was producing nothing but television static. Frisk tried to form coherent thoughts but literally nothing was coming out. At the worst possible time, Frisk’s rational thought was fizzling into goo.
And it only got worse when they parallel-parked, stepped out, and saw Jean. If it was possible, in the light of the world in the Old Town, Jean did not just have some odd allure about her as she stood beneath a verdant fir tree, an errant spring breeze ruffling her short ginger hair. She looked positively gorgeous, and it scrambled poor Frisk’s brain, causing them to simply grin like a big dumb idiot.
Jean’s voice came ringing in Frisk’s ear, “Hey, Frisk! Glad you could make it.” Frisk walked forward practically on autopilot as they stood by the door to Muffet’s cafe, under her purple awning, “Yeah, uh, had to drop Chara off by work at Grillby’s first. Glad to.. See you, too.”
Frisk felt warmth in their cheeks again. It was somewhat annoying, to be honest. Jean literally had not done anything and yet they were blushing just from explaining that they had to drop off their sibling. Something about Jean that they couldn’t put their finger on made them press on.
“Uh, wanna, go in, grab a coffee or something?” Jean smiled, “Coffee would be great!” They opened the door and lead the way in while Jean followed in behind them. The smell of pastries and brewing coffee filled the atmosphere of the spider cafe with a heady aroma.
Muffett hung above the counter as Frisk conferred, “You want anything besides the coffee? Spider donut?” Jean considered the case before her eyes landed on something, “Ooh, the spider brownie would be great.” Frisk walked up to the counter, and Muffett came gliding down on a silken thread.
“Frisk, dearie, Ahuhuhuhu… It’s always a pleasure to see you here. What can I get for you, and your wonderful little friend?”
Frisk nodded, “Pleasure as always, Muffett. Is your pet getting along well?” The spider giggled, “Ahuhuhuhu - kind of you to ask about them! They’re doing juuust peachy since I haven’t tried to sic them on any more children.”
Frisk then added, “Uh, cinnamon latte and a spider donut for me.” Jean added, “And an iced mocha with a spider brownie for me.” Two spiders, as fast as possible, came up with the order as Frisk paid a decent 150 G for the total meal.
