man but i defended this specific tumblr model of activism for so long because it genuinely seemed like the best way to reach a lot of young people and help introduce them to activism, and what they could do, and it’s just

all it does now is teach people, especially young people / new people, that the only efforts worth making are the ones with a 150% success rate, and that without that success rate, all other energy should be put towards nonstop criticism, particularly regarding language.

and i absolutely positively agree that language is important and that language holds power but language cannot and should not be the end goal of any activist circle because coming up with an approved set of words does fuck all to make any real changes to things like harmful policy and legislation. it also completely strips any and all possibility for nuance and multiple interests from activist conversation: everything must fit a specific narrative, or be cast aside, and everyone must follow the specific trends in activism (and if you don’t think there are trends, you’re fooling yourself) or they’ll be cast aside, and anything that seems inconvenient or makes you uncomfortable, rather than being considered and thought about and discussed and dealt with, is just instantly dropped, like that’s going to do anything to help anyone.

and god forbid someone only have two hands and be incapable of carrying every single sign ever to make sure that they can get the activist stamp of approval, largely from people who are vehemently opposed to any and all action that isn’t completely perfect, because apparently no action at all is preferable to imperfect action.

i think the scariest thing is that, the moment someone tries to introduce nuance to a conversation, or to remind people that there are multiple narratives deserving of attention and energy, they’re summarily branded as being a Bad Activist, and either harassed until they fall silent, or chased out. this is especially dangerous because in doing so, activist circles become little more than debate spaces to try and determine the most perfect language -- because action cannot be perfect and thus everyone acting gets shoved out. so activist circles achieve nothing. in fact, these circles are genuinely harmful to the causes for which they apparently fight, because it saps the energy from everyone willing to engage in actual, useful action, and it distracts efforts towards constant infighting and screaming so that the inner circles of activism can try to achieve some elusive ideological purity, that genuinely isn’t possible.

this also makes it extraordinarily difficult to sort out the genuine criticism -- “this message is actively harmful, and causes real harm to people, and has no place in what we do” -- from criticism rooted in appearing the most publicly Aware -- “you don’t do exactly what i want you to do and have inconvenienced me.” it starts becoming more and more difficult to discern what’s actively exclusionary, versus what’s simply applying already-limited focus and energy to one topic over another. and that’s just not sustainable. we’re going to burn out every single young activist trying to learn, or trying to act, or trying to make changes, solely because we’re more interested in the public appearance of purity and cohesion than in the actual opportunities to learn and to make real changes.

Im writing fic and about Jensen. More details on him being Dom? I can’t read people, Jensen seems soooo soft like Dean to me??

The thing to remember is that, while it's not law, most people are different in the bedroom vs real life.

In my everyday relationship with my husband I tend to be the dominant one, I make the call on a lot of things, my husband is happy to kinda just go along with whatever I want. I'm naturally more of a leader than a follower, I thrive being in charge compared to being in charge of. But when it comes to the bedroom, I give up that control.

You'll very often find that men who have powerful jobs as CEOs or big boss type figures who seem really dominant and in control, are the ones that are more submissive in the bedroom.

Then you've got the opposite side of that coin. You know the phrase dark horse? Where someone who is generally quiet and reserved and soft but then in the bedroom is like a whole other person? Loves being in control and dominant? That's what this refers to.

Like I said, it's not law. You will have people who are dominant or submissive in all aspects of their lives. But point is, just because Jensen is soft and quite sweet and gentle doesn't necessarily mean he is in the bedroom too.

Some good examples of him being more dominant is the way we see him with Jared sometimes. Promise I won't put my tin hat on for this, but there are some genuinely good examples involving Jared.

Gonna say right now actually, that I'm not suggesting that Jensen is like trained in BDSM or anything, like we can't know that. But someone who is dominant by nature might naturally find themselves doing these kinds of things without any training or influence.

Jensen grabs Jared a lot and guides him places - this is characteristically a dominant trait. We also have clips of him signalling Jared over with a flick of his fingers or just general hand gestures that are commonly used in dominants.

There was also the interview recently where Jensen used a tap signal to stop Jared from biting his nails. Again, not saying that like Jensen is "trained" to do these things, or that Jared is "trained" to obey Jensen, but naturally, Jensen might've done something like that to take control of a situation, and naturally Jared submitted to that control. It doesn't have to be sexual.

We've also got those famous moments of Jensen removing his belt, joking about "whipping" someone with it. Yanno, the classics everyone loves.

You could argue all those things are Jensen playing up to an audience or whatever, but even in the way he holds himself he just seems a lot more in control than when you compare him to say Jared who's just some excitable puppy that Jensen tries to keep on a leash so he doesn't run off.

Again, doesn't have to be sexual, just an observation.

Anyway, long story short, all those things suggest to me that Jensen would be more dominant than submissive in the bedroom. But hey, what do I know, I've never had sex with Jensen Ackles (I WISH) you probably need to ask Dee 🤣I can only give you my opinion based on what very little I've seen of him that he shares with his fans.

We finally have an original trailer for next weeks Supergirl episode (5.14).

Now usually I’m more than optimistic to see the new trailers or teasers, but after not only the debacle of 5.12, but other problems that have been identified before that; the fact we are rapidly running out of episodes (still unconfirmed if it is 20 or 22, although 20 looking likely as the date for end of filming is confirmed for 17th March), that no original trailer was shown immediately after the 100th episode (that has generally been well received by fans & critics alike, a considerable improvement), I am actually being cautious/worried over the whole thing. Why wait a full week to drop the trailer, instead of riding on the high of the 100th episode? I'm not one for trying to read things into anything, but it feels as if they might've decided to re-edit the trailer after 5.12 exploded in their face so badly. Of course I could be wrong, but with William in the episode it is possible he was in the trailer, and it could've once again become a whole level of backlash (more about William later).

Anyone who knows me will tell you one of my defining traits is I’m a pretty optimistic person. I like to be pragmatic, so I don’t get bogged down often with concerns of what might happen, rather my perspective is, let’s see what happens. I was of this mindset right up until Crisis with Supergirl. I still feel that 5a was by far the strongest part of the season, which normally I find isn’t the case with Supergirl. Usually I find the second half of a season is where Supergirl generally is at its best - where it can finally pull together the strands it has been playing with in terms of main plot line from episode one. By about episode 12 or so, we begin to get an idea where it is heading. That not only hasn't happened this season, with episode numbers dwindling fast there seems to be no way they can pull back from some of the honestly calamitous decisions that seem to have plagued much of the midseason.

I was relieved to see that the promo photos show a Dansen moment.

I am though also not entirely sure we're going to get anything that is meaningful between Kelly and Alex, as the background, synopsis and other photo suggest that they get caught up in the VR world. I have a horrible gut feeling, just as they're about to make out at Obsidian (some workplace making out hello, I'm here for that), there is an explosion (as per trailer), then the fallout from that.

Don't get me wrong, we've had so little of Kelly, and Dansen in general it will be good to see them onscreen together, and working in a hostile environment as a couple; especially as we haven't seen much of Kelly beyond Obsidian or wielding the shield. I hope her army training, alongside Alex's military training with the DEO actually get to be a tangible plot point.

As an aside, remember the little video clip Azie posted just around Christmas that had the Dansen fandom collectively falling down in incomprehensible piles of goo? While the quality isn't great, there is no doubt those outfits match these. So Azie threw one hell of a tease our way beyond what we thought! I do hope that means we genuinely see more than a moment of Dansen, but again Azie has spoken or posted about scenes she has filmed or have been part of the promo set of photos, only for a lot to not make the final edits.

So below are some of the other promo photos for the episode.

My concern is once again we see William at CatCo alongside Franklin. Which infuriates me, because (as I've said many times, this absolutely isn't because if Staz), but why is William once again there, when Nia is a journalist? Yet they pop Franklin in the shot - a reoccurring character certainly, but either remove William, or remove Franklin and allow Nia to be back as a journalist in Catco. Her actual job! I know we get the following episode (15) that is Nia centric, but as with Kelly, Nia's screen time has been so ridiculously low for an established main cast member, that I find it impossible to understand why they couldn't have at least allowed them screen time in these circumstances.

But no, again William is the journalist. Even Franklin is a journalist. Nia is MIA. I'm beginning to think she doesn't even know what CatCo looks like anymore.

It's the imbalance I (and many others) am finding so annoying this season. Imbalance that wouldn't take much to address if they'd just changed scenes a little, without disrupting anything of note of the storyline.

So I decided to check main cast numbers, and it made for interesting reading. Last year had 9 main cast listed. This year it is officially 12. We can argue that James wasn't in many episodes, but he did feature quite heavily before Mehcad left. The same could be said for The Monitor, who is listed as main cast up until Crisis.

Equally Lex Luthor isn't listed as a main character, but considering his screen time since Crisis, I've no doubt he might as well have been. The same for Malefic, who was pretty heavily used prior to Crisis.

So even if we subtract James and The Monitor, and only add in Lex Luthor as a replacement we are still on a higher number of main cast from last season.

Honestly, this for me has been a big part of the problem, with trying to fit in too many characters at the expense of previously established cast. Add in that William's story has made absolutely no sense since Russell died, especially since Nia and even Kelly could've handled the same storylines; it just seems a complete mess.

This isn't about who you ship or who you prefer as a character. Everyone is suffering because of the uneveness of it all. Alex has no cohesive story so far (even though she has a good amount of screen time). Kara and Lena have the screen time, but it also feels really clunky of late, and getting ridiculously drawn out; although I'm hoping since the 100th we'll see it begin to smooth out. The Danver sisters, Brainia, Dansen, even Lena and Kara (whether you view it platonic or as Supercorp is neither here nor there on this and I'm not about to get into arguments that are not relevant to what I'm trying to say here), J'onn with Alex and Kara, Nia and Kara, Brainy and Lena; the list goes on. Every single interaction seems to be suffering.

We all invest in characters, but overall it feels like a mess of unnecessary pairings (Lex and Brainy, Kara and William primarily) or cast additions that has detracted from all characters, and the crux of the story seems to have been lost in the midst.

I really want Supergirl to show us otherwise, but this is about the 3rd or 4th time I've written similar posts, and there has been no or little forward momentum. Time is now against the show as much as the problems it has generated, and there is no way sidelined cast will be able to pull the numbers back up, even with centric episodes like Nia in 5.15. Will Kelly get a more centric episode that doesn't revolve around her brother? Nothing suggests she does, so she'll lose further ground, which in turn means so will Dansen. Brainy has been used a lot, but again at the expense of all the previous pairings the viewers were invested in (whether it was Alex and Brainy, Brainia, Brainy and Lena or to a lesser degree Brainy and Kara).

But hey. Don't worry. William is here to save the day and the girl. *sarcasm, in case anyone wasn't sure*.

a few months flew by, and that meant you were graduating in exactly a year. you found yourself spending more time with jaemin compared to wonwoo, despite being in the same year as him.

you genuinely felt okay. you were okay with seeing wonwoo, you were okay with being in the same class as him and you were okay with looking at him being all lovey-dovey with aera.

you were pretty much occupied with school, your club and the dreamies, meaning you were distracted most of the time. they would probably have known what had happened somehow, through jaemin. so, when you see them trying so hard to cheer you up for the past months, made it all heartening to see.

tonight wasn't an exception either. due to the fact that you and mark were seniors, both of you were one of those who had to step down from their positions as the executive committee.

"i'm honoured to have been given a chance to serve the school and bring this club to greater heights. thank you to my team who's been supporting me all these while and for being the best i could've ever asked for. signing off for the final time as your president, mark lee," he bowed as everyone erupted into cheers.

"can we have na jaemin, the newly appointed president, to come on stage to give his acceptance speech?" the emcees announced.

a round of applause was given as jaemin went up on stage to give his acceptance speech.

you knew how nervous he was. from the day mark appointed him as the president, up till now. you silently wished that all will go well for him.

"thank you, mark lee, and everyone who joined us here tonight. it's a special evening for both the seniors and us as we thanked the seniors for all that they've done for us and also carry on the tradition they've set for the next batch. without everyone, none of this will be possible. let us assure the seniors that we can carry on the unity they've established for us, if not greater so that they will not regret passing on the torch to us. signing off for the first time as your president, na jaemin," the crowd erupted into cheers once again and everyone laughed at the reference of mark's speech jaemin had made at the end.

the night ended with so much happiness and you felt at ease for the first time in a while.

"hey, love, wasn't i dashing up there?" jaemin came up to you, putting his hands around your waist.

"don't do that, nana! and yes, you were the most attractive man in the room.. after jeno that is," you stuck your tongue out at him.

"and you're the most attractive woman i've ever laid eyes on," jeno appeared out of nowhere, and placed a kiss on your hand.

in return, you blew a kiss to jeno.

you could see jaemin glaring at jeno even without seeing his face. ever since that night, he became more touchy, more flirty and more protective than wonwoo ever was. you knew that this was his natural state, not the one when he was quiet and cold.

you like this openly flirty and smiley na jaemin more than the other one. it made you feel all sorts of things.

"you sure you're aren't dating jaemin at this point, y/n?" donghyuck was sceptical.

even mark, renjun, chenle and jisung nodded.

"we'd be a power couple, i know it," jaemin winks at you, locking your arms in his.

you flipped your hair, "president na jaemin as my boyfriend? sign me up, baby!"

the dreamies knew that both nana and you were just joking around, but the fact that they kept pushing the both of you together, made you quite uncomfortable.

you were uncomfortable mainly because you didn't want jaemin to find it disgusting to be teased as a couple with you, but so far, he didn't show signs of disgust. the fact that jaemin and you grew closer and spent most of the time together, made you extra cautious.

you didn't want it to end just like how you and wonwoo ended.

"come on, dreamies! let's go out for dinner," chenle suggested.

one by one, all of them started walking towards the exit. you stayed behind for some reason.

"y/n, you coming?" mark turned and smiled, calling out to you.

"you're part of the dreamies now, y/n. can't run away now, can't run away later. you're stuck with us for life," renjun chuckled.

"yeah, you've basically spent most of your time with us. what's hesitating you now?" chenle questioned.

"just... i'm no longer part the club, so-"

"i thought we've established that you can't run away from us, y/n," donghyuck rolled his eyes, a smile on his face.

"we can't handle jaemin without you, y/n! you're the only one who can save me," jisung whined.

"i never thought i would be hearing it from you, jisung," jaemin exclaimed in shock.

"you're the only one who calls me attractive, y/n," jeno came up to you and held your hands.

"hands off, jeno!" jaemin smacked his hands away.

you laughed at their antics and grew soft at the way they're reassuring you. you heaved a sigh of relief.

you smiled, the happiness reaching your eyes, "yeah, let's get dinner."

the dreamies erupted into cheers as they walked fancily, with their fancy shoes and their fancy outfits. no doubt that everywhere they went, eyes would be on them.

and everywhere you went, their eyes would be on you; walking side by side, together with you.

your phone rang.

it rang multiple times till it woke you up from your sleep, the sleep you love so much.

"um, hello?" you answered the phone, half asleep.

"y/n?" the voice at the end of the receiver called out. you'd recognised this voice anywhere.

"wonwoo?" you sat right up, fully aware that you're on the phone with him.

"yeah, did i wake you up?" he asked, in concern.

"well, kind of, yeah," you answered, bluntly, "kind of a surprise, getting a call from you."

you could hear him sighing at the end of the other side, "it's been so long, y/n. i kinda miss you, you know. can we meet up?"

a few months ago, you would have have been a mess, trying to get wonwoo to choose you instead of aera, trying to get him to call out your name because he had that much of an effect towards you.

surprisingly enough, you felt nothing. you felt nothing at all, but peace. you've realised that you've finally come to terms with your emotions and left them at the garbage bin. you felt the weight has been lifted up from your heart and body.

you smiled, "sure, why not? i missed my best friend too."

the next few hours with wonwoo made you realise all sorts of things; like how comfortable you were and that there were no more romantic feelings hidden in your heart.

you could just be yourself without being all anxious, or even worrying if you're gonna make a fool out of yourself.

"so, how have you been, my girl?" wonwoo nudged you a little.

that felt weird, the way he's calling you, my girl. your thoughts suddenly flew to jaemin, who had been calling you love all these while. love seemed more classier and the way he called you love was like being under a blanket during winter; it made you warm. you smiled to yourself.

you looked up and teased him, "i don't think you should be calling me your girl anymore though. i am never yours ever since you got yourself a girlfriend, i was never yours from day 1."

"you know i've always called you my girl," wonwoo softened.

you giggled and check the time, "not anymore."

"you're always with the dreamies and we don't seem to be hanging out anymore," wonwoo started.

"don't you have a girlfriend?" you asked him, being puzzled while looking at your phone.

"i'm talking about you here, y/n. you'd always hang with them after school or even during lunch. i don't see you anymore," wonwoo complained.

you raised your brows and looked at the time, "what is your point? why did you even call me out here today?"

"you're doing it again. you've been checking your phone and time throughout the whole day! are you waiting for someone's text?" he lashed out.

"it's my fault, now? you're the one who's been missing and i don't even see the rest of our friends either! every time they'd see me in school, it turned awkward. i'm 100% sure you'd know why!" you raised your voice, "at least i'm somewhere where i know i feel at ease, and that's with the dreamies."

"you sure it isn't because of jaemin? na jaemin, the newly appointed president of your club, the club that takes up most of your time. i'm pretty sure you're spending tons of time together in that pretty little club room of yours," he bitterly spat, "everyone knows how close the both of you are. you might even date him at this point and i don't even know about it!"

"so what if i do? what's so bad about being with jaemin?" you muttered to yourself.

"you can't be serious! do you know what people have been saying about you and jaemin? tons of shit! you and i know you can't handle that," he ran his fingers through his hair.

wonwoo sighed, "i'm sorry, y/n. i overreacted. i just want the best for you. you know i'll always be here right?"

wonwoo embraced you, but you had no energy to reciprocate the hug. you stood there, staring at the ground, with his arms around you.

summer break just started and ever since that day with wonwoo, you never felt the same again. it was as if you're in a state of dilemma every single time you're with the dreamies. you don't doubt that they were sincere in being with you, heck, you would never doubt them.

you were just feeling you, undeserving of it all.

"knock, knock. anyone in there?" chenle peered into your face.

you just have him a slight smile.

"oh? what's wrong? you look lost in your thoughts," jeno questioned.

the dreamies were hanging out at your place today, and since they've never really seen your place, they suggested on chilling there.

"you can tell us anything," donghyuck chimes in.

"is this about jaemin?" mark asked.

"mark!" the rest shouted.

you looked around and laughed, "what made you think it's about jaemin?"

jisung cleared his throat, "well, since he's not here, and you look distracted.."

"you miss him?!" chenle shrieked.

"come on, chenle!" renjun nudged the little boy.

"it's about... wonwoo," you confessed, laughing a little.

mark shrugged his shoulders, "you don't have to talk about it if you feel uncomfortable."

"but i'm curious!" donghyuck chided in.

"donghyuck, don't force y/n!" mark scolded the boy.

"i don't mind, it's okay," you smiled at all of them, "it's about time i tell you anyways."

the rest of the time was spent talking about wonwoo and your one-sided, unrequited love for him. you told them the details of what made you fall for him and how understanding he was to the way he'd lashed out quickly if both of you had an argument. but it end up with both parties apologising.

"i met him the other day, because he called me up, asking to meet," you started off again, "he got annoyed at me, saying i was so distracted and kept looking at my phone. i felt bad, actually."

"so... did your feelings resurfaced?" jisung asked carefully.

you shook your head vigorously, "hell no! the moment my feelings for the person disappears, i will never go back to him. even if those feelings came back, i will never go back to him."

"so, why are you so lost in your own thoughts?" jeno asked, taking turns.

"jaemin," you confessed, "it's jaemin. you know why i felt bad? because all i thought of was jaemin. i was waiting for him to text me back, and i kept looking at the time. i wasn't even paying attention to wonwoo, and he lashed out at me, saying mean things."

"i'm so scared," you cried out, "what if jaemin and i end exactly the way it ended like wonwoo and i?"

the emotions since that day burst out, and you cried. you even prayed, not wanting your feelings to risk your friendship with jaemin. you didn't want that. knowing how heartbroken you were, everyone gathered and hugged you, patting your back to comfort you.

moments later, you heard the door being unlocked.

"y/n! your prince is here!" your little brother exclaimed and ran to you, "oh? why are you crying? prince jaemin! princess y/n is crying!"

the moment jaemin heard what your littke brother said, he immediately dropped his bag at the entrance and ran to you.

"what happened?" he looks frantic, eyeing each and every one of his friends.

"w-wonwoo," you sobbed, "but everything's okay."

"o-oh," he stuttered.

"group hug!" your brother exclaimed and everyone laughed, embracing one another in the midst of that.

“Hey. Heeeey.” Cal came up to Emma at her locker. “You there.”

She smiled and rolled her eyes, putting her stuff away. It was Friday and classes had just ended for the week. Friday nights were designated date nights for the two of them, and this time Cal had something special planned.

“Pay attention to meeee.” Cal kept pestering her, putting on his best begging face.

“Cal, you’re pathetic.” Emma laughed and looked at him. He was too cute. 

“It’s Friday!” he said tauntingly with a big smile, wanting her to ask him what he had planned.

She knew him too well. They’d been close friends since elementary school, and always sort of had a thing for each other. They’d only been officially dating for a little while now, but they felt like they’d been in the relationship for forever.

“Okay, I’ll bite.” she gave in, shutting her locker. “Whatcha got planned?”

“Come on, guess! I want you to guess.” Cal led her towards the front of the school. 

“You know I don’t like to guess.” she muttered. “Uh, I don’t know. Dinner maybe?”

“That’s part of it!” Cal was happy he’d gotten any answer at all from her. “So what do you think about this? Picnic over at the park, and then a movie at the drive-in? I got reserved parking passes.”

“Aww, really?” Emma was impressed at his forethought.

She appreciated simple dates much more than big elaborate ones. Last week she’d chosen their date - a nice drive through the mountains. It was great up until the point Cal got himself a ticket. He didn’t know how to drive without showing off. This week’s date sounded much tamer.

“You like it?” Cal asked. 

“Of course!” she smiled back at him as they exited the building and drove onto the road. “But one quick concern - you didn’t prepare the picnic did you?”

“Pfft, no.” Cal shook himself. “You know I can’t cook. And I’m too lazy to go to the store. I got my aunt to pack us some stuff.”

“Aw, yes! I was hoping you’d say that. You owe her, you know.”

“I know, I know.” 

He drove her over to his house where the packed basket was waiting for them. After staying and talking for a few minutes, they headed over to the local park. They parked in front of the pond and watched the clouds pass overhead as they enjoyed a quart of specially blended oil.

They talked about this and that and nothing in particular for the longest time. They snuggled up next to each other as the sun began to set and watched the sky change colors. Cal almost regretted his obligations to attend the movies. He could have stayed right there in that moment forever. He felt so lucky.

Emma was equally charmed. She looked over at Cal at one point and found him staring at the sky in awe. He’d never looked so attractive than he did in that moment of innocence. She knew deep down that she had a genuinely good catch with him, and started to think about their relationship. For feeling so deeply towards each other, they’d done little to show it.

As the last bit of light faded from the day, Cal suggested they head over to the drive-in before the movie started. Even though their seating was in the back of the field, he didn’t want to show up late and interrupt.

Upon arrival, they realized they knew nothing about the show that was playing. They’d missed the title credits, and as such didn’t even know what the name of it was. It didn’t matter. They settled into their private boxed off area in the back and leaned in close to each other. There was no one else back there except the guy manning the projector.

There might as well have not even been a movie playing on the big screen before them. They didn’t pay a lick of attention to it.

“You know, I’ve been doing a lot of thinking here lately.” Emma whispered at one point. 

“About?” Cal asked, curious.

“Us, mostly.” she admitted. 

Cal suddenly felt concerned. Was he doing something wrong? What was she about to say? He looked over at her.

She immediately sensed his concern and clarified her statement. “I mean, about what all this means. We’ve known each other for so long.”

Cal still didn’t quite follow. “What are you getting at? he asked softly.

“I just - I wanted to say this a long time ago, but never really knew when it would be appropriate.” she looked down at her hood before glancing over and locking eyes with him. “I love you, Cal. I really do.”

Cal simultaneously felt relieved and panicked at the same time. He’d always been too conscious about saying that little phrase, too. This was his moment. He smiled at her and nudged her a little.

“I love you, too, Em. Always have.” he responded. “And yeah, I should have said that a long time ago.”

They both laughed a little, quietly. The fact that they had both been too awkward to freely and openly admit their feelings toward each other was a little comforting in its own regard. They looked up at the screen and tried to follow the plot of the movie.

“Do you have any idea what’s going on?” Emma asked him.

“Not a clue.” Cal answered with a chuckle. “But you know, I think I have an idea about something else…”

He backed away from being parked right next to her and angled his front bumper towards her. She felt him move away and likewise turned to face him, thinking that maybe he wanted to leave.

“You know what I think all this means? All this mushy stuff, I mean?” he asked her with a suspiciously sly smile.

“What?” she gave him an inquisitive look. She could tell he was up to something.

“I think this means I can finally try this.” Cal moved towards her slowly. 

She braced herself and let her eyes close as his lips met hers. It was terribly awkward, as neither of them knew what to do, but it was thrilling nonetheless. After a few long seconds, he pulled back and looked at her with a lopsided smile.

Emma rolled her eyes, returning his grin. “Again, something that should have happened a long time ago.”

“Yeah, really.” Cal agreed.

There was a moment of silence as they let it sink in. It was a first for the both of them.

“Well, we got nothin’ better to do, do we?” Emma finally said, inching closer to him. It was her turn to act like she was up to no good.

She moved in for round two before he could respond. He was more than happy to oblige. The rest of the night was a blur. Before they knew it the movie was over and everyone was heading home. Without saying a word, he drove her home afterwards, and gave her another quick little kiss as they said their goodbyes. It was the start of the rest of forever for them.
