Bright but argumentative. I was never afraid of pointing out things I didn’t feel were fair hfhddh

When we were learning numbers kids would often write 91 for nineteen, just flip them, y’know, and Ms. Potter yelled at the class for it. Baby Generiq went into it about how it was an understandable mix up because you do say the number first. In twenty-three you write the two first, so in nineteen it’s easy to assume you would write the nine first.

Phone notes and a notebook! Sometimes a blank document but I always find it strangely intimidating

Aa I try to straw from people I want to copy, but there are talents I look up to. Rachel Chavkin is a brilliant director, and there are so many artists and authors I look up to and who inspire me.

Obsidian because it’s black like my hea- I’m kidding, I do love obsidian, but it’s Rose Quartz because it’s a very very pretty, soft pink and makes me happy.

Swim or sit in the sunshine. Ben and I usually go driving with the top down as well.

Kalanchoe’s, it literally Window’s Thrill. These babies are fairly temperamental outside and love partial sun, so the window is the perfect spot for them. And! If you keep them happy! They’ll bloom! My personal favorite is the pink bloom.

I recently went home to our house in Bulacan together with my parents and younger sister. This is a last-minute do we go or do we go? Haha and my mom has to be back to Manila in the afternoon. Plus I just got off a 12-hour shift the night before. When we got there my nanay (grandma from my mama's side) and tatay (her husband in short my grandpa) welcomed us, they were happy to see us, especially me, because I haven't visited them for yeaars.

So let me tell you about my nanay and tatay..

My nanay and tatay were the best version of parents you'll ever have (I still love my real parents though hehe). They won't let you do household chores, they let you watch, play, and do crazy stuff. Well I think me and my siblings were good kids. So maybe my nanay and tatay trusted us that much. (Not unlike my mom and dad, JK hahaha). My nanay would always cook the best dishes. "Sinigang na baboy", "tinolang manok with dugo" (chicken blood on rice), "adobong hito", "alupihan", "pakbet", "bilo-bilo" you name any filipino dish, my nanay can cook it for you and she'll make you want for more. 😊 My tatay on the other hand loves to buy me food and stuff, he goes out every morning to the town's market (palengke) and when he comes home, (that's the time I wake up) he gives me random things, like the M&M like choclates on an eyeglasses pack (that was my favorite), "panutsa" (cocoa candies sold by the bucket, they're like toffee rocks. But biiiig ooness), foot callous scraper remover (I don't know what it's called but you do get me hahaha), flower meringues, colored chicks 🐣, little birds, crayons, jumping ropes, board games, paper dolls, baby dolls, satationeries, and many more.

Thinking of it.. My nanay and tatay were not rich but I felt back then that they gave us, their "apo"s, everything we had to be happy. Maybe because everything was given out of love 😊

Flashback to our trip back home.. We had a great lunch, laughing, and catching-up on things. Talking anything under the sun. But then we had to go back to Manila.

That's when I saw my nanay tear up. My tatay was looking at her and was quiet. My mom said "nagluluha ka pa din ba nay, diba may pamatak ka sa mata". She did not responded back. She was holding it back but it was too much for her. And I tried to hold back mine, I was better at it. And when we're about to leave. I smiled and laughed a little bit to lighten up the mood, I told her not to cry. "Nay, wag ka na umiyak". Hugged her and got into the car while she and tatay waited for us to leave.

Goodbyes are the hardest when you know you have to leave home. To pursue your dreams, to finish college, to work abroad, to find adventure, to travel the world, to have your own family hoping it'll turn out as good as the home you left. We have our reasons for living home. But no matter what we do, God wired us to go back to the people we love. And what's amazing is they will always love us back. This is a blessing we ought not to take for granted. ❤
