Finding myself a bit frustrated with Ahriman as a character because I SEE his popularity and I think I like him - at least, the concept of him. But his novels don't really give me a lot to work with personality-wise and feel extremely vague and unfocused. Then again, I'm able to like him a lot more when he's being written by McNeill, so maybe the issue is just John French himself? Which is weird, because I'm pretty sure I've liked some of his novels, but the Ahriman series is such a fog. I sure remember scenes in the Ahriman novels but not why those scenes are happening.

#that was also an issue with Slaves to Darkness i think #the only scene i remember was Lorgar kissing Fulgrim #also i know its my stupid magnus brainrot but Ahriman Unchanged is probably the only novel in that series so far that WAS able to engage me #because it had magnus in it #and even though i find French's magnus not as interesting as McNeill imagining his shirtless body is keeping my attention 🤷‍♂️#maybe Ahriman Eternal will be an improvement since it has Necrons and I love those guys #also that techpriest who ran the ship should have had a romance with ahriman js #i swear she was the one person Ahriman was consistently sweet towards #Funbox Posts #warhammer 40k #ahzek ahriman
