Not really a headcanon, but more of an observation?

One of my favorite things about Shuri is that she takes the stereotype of most scientist characters and completely turns it on its head. This is the first scientist character that I’ve ever seen who is... so warm. She’s so compassionate, and (I’ve said this to different people that I’ve plotted with) I like to call her the Queen of Little Touches™. 

I didn’t really realize that it was a thing at first, I really only noticed this hand grab. I thought it was cute, but then with every time that I re-watched the film  (for character studies or to catch certain lines) I started finding more and more supporting evidence. 

I couldn’t find a gif of that last one (I had to go into my amazon and dig through the movie to find it, oops), but it’s in the scene where T’Challa has just found out about Erik. Things are tense, and the first thing Shuri does when the elders start bombarding her brother with questions is take her hand and place it on his. It’s for a split second, but it’s there and it’s so important. (see also: Shuri’s relationship with her brother and how amazing it is) 

There are more of these that I can’t find, like when she’s telling T’Challa the joke about her ‘sneakers’, she pats him on the chest before leaving. I tried to take a screenshot but you only see her fingers for like 2 frames so I couldn’t catch it. You hear the sound of her hand making contact, though!

Anyway... tl;dr - I love Shuri. Letitia Wright is amazing and deserves all the awards. I hope I portray her character well enough, because she is just the greatest and I want everyone to see that.
