So there’s another one of those cool Hermitcraft trivia posts circulating again which I kinda wanna reblog but also I’m feeling a little bit hesitant because some of the points seem maybe a little bit inaccurate or exaggerated? Like I’d like to fact check them first at least.

(Particularly what stuck out to me was the point about season two only happening because Joe did a coup, because that’s not how I understood that story the way Joe and Xisuma have told it? Or at least as far as I can remember... the impression I had was that Xisuma was mainly the person who took the initiative to keep the server going but Joe was one who broke the gridlock on whether or not they should add new members by just straight up inviting Cleo without asking the others.)

(So maybe a more accurate way to phrase it is that without Xisuma season 2 wouldn’t have happened, but without Joe, season 2 might not have had any new members. And at this point the only still currently active Hermits who were already on the server were X, Hypno and Joe, so the lineup could have turned out very differently, if the server had even survived past season 2.)

But what actually annoyed me was this comment from someone (not OP, to be clear) in the notes:

1:

I don’t wanna start counting diversity points on each server like it’s a fucking game, but I DO wanna point out that the “white guy“ comment is pretty rich coming from a Hermitcraft fan.

Both servers have a white guy problem.

But at least with Dream SMP I can actually think of more than one creator who isn’t white, and it didn’t take them until season 2 to add a second female member...

(I know Hermitcraft is more of a private and closed group and they have extremely strict qualifications they demand from new members, plus every current member has veto power, so it’s much harder to add new Hermits than it is to add new DSMP members where it’s all decided by One Guy, but I think some frustration about this is still justified due to how big Hermitcraft is in the MCYT community.)

It’s also extremely annoying when apparently there was a whole thing where Hermit fans were insisting that Quackity is white during the sexyman polls?? Presumably just to excuse their shitty behaviour??? idek. (And I also heard on the other hand that there were some straight up racist comments made about Quackity as well. He literally cannot win, apparently.)

2:

What is this weird attitude towards new creators?? Yes, it’s cool that Hermitcraft has been around for over a decade and that the Hermits have all these cool histories in the community and even influenced the development of the game itself, but you can celebrate that without needing to put down new people, ffs.

I know it’s annoying when the new guys suddenly get more popular than your guys, but it happens, it’s the circle of YouTube. Please chill out. No need to be a hipster about it.

Besides, even if we don’t count people like Vikkstar who admittedly didn’t play on DSMP all that much, there were still people on the server who had long histories in the MCYT community:

Phil has been making Minecraft videos at least since 2012, when he started his first Hardcore Series, and holds the record for the longest running hardcore world to date. There’s a splash text in Minecraft referencing him (”Ph1lzA had a good run!”)

Techno started his channel in 2013 and was part of the Hypixel player council (or was it called the Elite Team back then? Not sure) since he was like 14 or 15, helping with testing and game design on many of the iconic Hypixel games before the server became the biggest Minecraft server in the world. He too has a splash text in the game (”Technoblade never dies!”)

BadBoyHalo has his own PVP server called MunchyMC which was launched in 2015 and before that he was part of the staff on a different PVP server.

Also while more recent, a whole bunch of DSMP members were also on SMP Live and SMP Earth back in 2019. In fact 2019 was when a lot of the DSMP members originally got their initial boost into popularity.

Honestly the only DSMP members who fit the description of “new white guy who popped up in 2021“ are like... probably Foolish and BoomerNA??

I think you probably meant 2020 anyway, because that’s when Dream, George, Sapnap, Tommy, Tubbo and Ranboo became popular. I assume so anyway because those are usually the white guys people actually seem to be talking about when they talk about DSMP white guys. (Obligatory note that Ranboo is in fact nonbinary though.)

tl;dr:

You can just hype up the Hermits and just not say anything about DSMP. That’s an option. Especially if you clearly don’t know that much about DSMP.

Urban decay in post-apocalyptic media is something that I’ve always been fascinated by, especially in The Last of Us. Seeing how nature reclaims anthropogenic landscapes, the science behind it all - it often makes me wonder what aspects of humanity are going to last the longest. And I’m not alone in thinking this, especially in such an environmentally-conscious era. The World Without Us (which was actually what The Last of Us devs consulted for the game’s environmental design) and Life After People were huge successes when they came out, and the basic premise to each was just “What if everybody on Earth dropped dead?”

I thought I’d go and compile a list of some of man’s effects and artifacts that are going to last the longest, should some belligerent force like mushroom zombies wipe us off the face of the Earth.

Starting our list off is…

The Hoover Dam

It’s big, it’s bad, and it powers a lot of houses. This feat of American engineering is estimated to last more than 10,000 years.

Metals in The Soil

Not every one of man’s longest-lasting artifacts are big engineering marvels. Sometimes they’re as simple as metals left in the soil from fertilizer. For example, fertilizer-induced chromium in the soil is said to last 70,000 years.

Invasive Species

If aliens ever find Earth after we’re gone, they’re gonna look at fossils of cats in Hawaii and wonder where they could’ve possibly came from. Invasive species like cats are gonna last into the geologic record.

Mount Rushmore

Carved into solid granite, and eroding at around one inch every ten thousand years, the faces of our presidents will likely be gone in seven million years.

Open Pit Mines

Sometimes, all it takes is a really big hole to make a lasting impact. Over time, landslides, soil deposition from wind or floods, and tectonic activity will likely heal these scars on the Earth. Until then, they’ll likely last millions of years.

Objects Left on the Moon

This is likely our best bet for physical objects to last the longest. Lacking tectonic activity and just about everything else that degrades and decays back on Earth, astronaut equipment, a bleached American flag, old spacecraft, two golf balls, and various other objects (including a probably now-faded photograph of astronaut Charles Duke and his family) will last for ages, barring some freak asteroid impact. UV radiation and cosmic wind will likely reduce these objects to nothing in 100 million years time.

Radio and TV Signals

Originally thought to last forever in pristine condition, radio and television signals from Earth will likely be reduced to unintelligible noise once it dissipates far enough into outer space. Still, they will actually last forever.

Feel free to add-on anything else! There’s tons of other things that will last a surprisingly long time.

A friend of mine had this idea, and I’d love to see it in an urban fantasy: magic is real and it stays secret because it looks like bad CGI. The fakest thing ever.

People who witness magic in person can always have their minds clouded, as they have been for most of human history, but all this newfangled technology has to be handled a different way. A video camera records exactly what it sees.

So, what it sees is … something that looks laughably fake. For any time period. The various secret magicians of the world make a point to keep their spells up to date with the current mundane trends — some of them even have running contests for who can make the most fake-looking spell.

I imagine they have a great time doing it. I sure would.

i’m sorry but seeing that tiny pride flag in one of the boxes backstage regardless of who took it and knowing louis performs a song every night that resonates with his queer audience just makes me think about how much has changed since 2013. how unfathomable this would’ve been just two years ago actually. it’s really nice to take a step back and look at these things and notice the progression that’s been had in his image with something that has been isolated from him for so long. so so excited for him.

i’ll write a more in-depth post later but:

written all over your face: a mixture between grunge-rock and pop-punk. the guitars were absolutely insane. such a fast heat. you guys are not ready for this song in particular. she’s the main character of this era 1000% pop punk princess

face the music: think early 2000s pop punk. very similar to written all over your face, but much more condensed. the bridge was phenomenal. a chanting “WHOA WHOA WHOA” that is definitely a crowd moment. we were racing around each other during that part. reminiscent of reliant k, cartel, jimmy eat world.

Saturday: A sadder track. it’s one of the best ballads he’s ever written. his vocals were incredible. the bridge of saturdays has such a soaring quality to it, and it builds to his high vocal moment.

all this time: very tame impala 2015 very fuzzy synths. very driving down the highway at night. it’s just a steady alt-club hit.

the departure of sound from walls when it comes to FITF is insane like i know he said it was different, but it truly feels like FITF is it’s own animal. it feels entirely louis. it just exudes such a punkier edge both in sound and in feel. this is his record

The streaming session of the KinnPorsche world tour I was participating in kinda fell off the rails during the English version of Why Don’t You Stay, which was very sad. Hopefully it turns out okay for the rest of it tomorrow.

My thoughts in no particular order:

Dang, Slot Machine is awesome and I should go look them up. (We amazed a random discord member who randomly wandered into the stream about Mile having previously been just a filthy wealthy dude that played the guitar)

Oh my goodness, Jeff!!! Said multiple times, by multiple people.

The VegasPete scene was chef’s kiss. Gonna wax dance show critic here but Bible has some amazing physicality and charisma. Like I’m pretty darn ace and I still can tell that he’s hot and does amazing work as Vegas. I’m in the middle of episode 10, so I haven’t fallen headlong for Pete/Build yet…but it’ll probably happen.

So highly amused that Barcode made up for the clothing deficit amongst everyone else singlehandedly. Pretty sure I missed the main brouhaha about the song he performed to, but nobody mentioned it was a cover of a Blackpink song! I love Blackpink!!!

The chat punched the air when Tay slapped Time. It’s possible to do polyamory ethically. Whatever Time’s deal is…isn’t it. On a sidenote: more Tay centric fics please.

I was highly amused that the mom got a sarong for her little thing with Chay/Barcode. The subtitles were on a horrendous delay, so I don’t actually know what all went on, but it’s cute that she was momming him.

As for the KimChay…I don’t quite see how that ending was horrible? Slightly more open ended than it could have been. But the flipside of forgetting the bad times is remembering the good ones. Obviously there were some good times or else Chay would not have been devastated by Kim’s betrayal. And…then there were technical difficulties and we had to stop the stream in the middle of Jeff’s performance. So that was lame. But Jeff did a good job before technology decided to pitch a hissy fit.

I concur with the person that said they hoped Jeff had gotten cleared to sing by a doctor. I’ve only listened to a few of his live performances and I could tell his range was a little rough. Don’t let them force you back into singing before your vocal cords have healed!!! That’d be awful if you permanently damaged them.

Anyway. Looking forward to the final half and all the Magic Mike bits.

I’d like to give Jackson Wang and whoever else is on his creative team congrats for having an excellent track record on music videos. I just watched the one for Cruel and my gosh that was neat. I like the through line of vapory lifeforce from Blow. That was cool.

My writing fingers might be slightly inspired…so who knows what’ll come.

Finished the second half of KPWT!!!! Once again in no particular order.

Would it have killed them to fix the subtitles before releasing the rerun tickets??? Like seriously, I thought youtube subs could be iffy, but these were…special. They could have held off on letting people do the rerun viewings long enough for them to fix the timing and the quality. Yeah, live subtitling is super labor intensive…but afterwards…you get to pause and rewind to make sure you’ve got it correctly.

Anyway. The Minor family thing was entertaining. I would probably strain something in my back if I had to do flips in the air. It’d be fun…but yeah…I’m not nearly as athletic as Bible.

Build playing the saxophone amused me to no end.

I’m excited for the MileApo flick and hopefully they plunk it on iqiyi or something so I can support BOC with my watching.

I’m very impressed at how many parents were there…because if mine were at such an event…I’d change my name and move to the Southern hemisphere.

I must give JJ’s arms and shoulders an honorable mention because he has obviously worked hard on them. I certainly would not want to get tackled by him.

I snickered when I saw how tall the heels on Jeff’s boots were during the final…clubbing moment…or whatever we are calling it. Finale of some sort. Anyway…Jeff is tiny and Barcode is definitely taller than him and I am delighted. I say this as if Jeff isn’t possibly taller than me by a couple inches. Crap. I’m gonna have to look that up. Anyway, Jeff is all the gender in a pint sized package. Except for where he’s still probably above average height.

Ahem. Lovely experience, would watch again if they fixed the subtitles.

Oh dear lord, if the infantilization of Apo that’s going on on twitter by some people also has a side of ableism…I will riot.

I haven’t exactly watched a lot of interviews with him but the ones I have watched screamed possible adhd. He could just be very energetic. But if he does have adhd…infantilizing the grown man is doubly aggravating.

Anyway, glad I don’t go searching for stuff on twitter.

hey! i've been thinking about getting into mcsr, but i don't know where to start; there are a lot of streamers with a lot of different personalities, and their streams are long, and i keep on sort of bouncing off? do you have any ideas of where a beginner should look? is there a guide somewhere on how to watch them without getting confused? i'd like to get into them but i'm really confused and overwhelmed ;-;

first, i think it's important to get a grasp on what kind of streamer you already like, because there's probably a streamer to match you.

if you like consistent streams (both schedule wise and energy wise), conversational with chat, i recommend: couriway, fulham, petezahhutt

if you like infrequent higher energy short streams, i recommend: fruitberries, nerdi, illumina's main

if you prefer chill long streams that you can use as background noise, i reccommend: elysaku, benex, illuminanomic

if you prefer an active sense of humor and bursts of high energy in a long stream, i recommend: feinberg, fyroah, raddles

and these are just the ones i watch most consistently! there's so many other runners out there to fit whatever niche you want, but it's useful to sort them more or less by what kind of vibe their stream gives off, so you can find one that's right for you :)

and if you get intimidated by strats (what are they doing with the f3 screen?? why are they digging there??? huh????) there are several fans who will explain, either here or in chat (as long as you ask nicely, we can be a bit sarcastic to newbies, sorry). @s3er is my go to for mscr strategies and explanations.

it's also useful to watch videos of old runs, especially those with voice over- illumina and couri's former world records explain what and why they were doing certain things, and i think they're a great way to show off the highs of speedrunning as well as some of the niche math that goes over people's head. here's two illumina fwr's and one couriway: illumina illumina couri

i admit as a community, there's a lot of in jokes that don't completely make sense to newcomers- the best thing i can recommend is to reach out! we have lots of people who are super nice, and also me, and we love talking about block man go fast. one upside (?) to this whole discourse is that mcsrblr is super active, so if you look around, there's dozens of people willing to talk to you.

while i’m thinking about it and in a fighty mood, i have demands of the mcsr community- we’ve got to stop letting the whitewashing of illumina slide.

in case you didn’t know- you genuinely may not have, it’s not really something he talks about often -illumina is indigenous canadian. he used to have his emotes and skin be a lighter color, but recently-ish, started having his official content reflect his actual skin tone. this is his minecraft skin:

he’s noticeably brown! his more recent emotes also depict him with this skintone. this is consistent with the images we have of his actual face- his lighting is usually garbage, but you can tell he isnt pale. in addition, he doesn’t have a button nose, which some people depict him with if they don’t draw his mask.

a couple more disjointed thoughts on Meguri

I love the little changes they’re doing, like how Satoko sees Rika’s 100 years of misery-- Eua forcing her to see it without her asking and all, and her reaction to it-- being WAY more understandable than her reaction in the Anime, which is... hardly. Any at all.

Eua being way more clearly manipulative, too. And how she describes looping for a bit-- testing out in the other fragments, THEN sending her back to the main world to repeat those steps?

That ominous line how not all of the worlds are better than her current one-- I’m so curious. Does that mean she’ll end up experiencing the tragedies herself too? Or something like them?

I just love how Tomato is going about all this, at least as of this chapter. I have-- worries still, but honestly by biggest worry is how Teppei’ll be handled.

I CANNOT actually even talk about him without ranting each time, because each time I think about it, the less sense his turning over a new leaf and situation around it makes sense. He’s not even related?? Like, he’s the brother of Satoko’s stepfather. That’s the connection. AND her abuser. Why does HE get the looper memories first and foremost, in such a profound way?

Like, they seriously cannot try to tell me her abuser, not even related by blood, is closer to her than the fucking club. We DID see Keiichi get some memories, but that ended up not even REALLY being used, or meaning anything, and the rest of the club also got jack shit-- even when it seemed like they SHOULD of remembered SOMETHING. (>looks at Rena)

They literally ONLY used the memory leak for fucking Teppei and to force a new-leaf-turning for him, him of all people. And it still just upsets me since they do that on TOP of Satoko going through her villain arc, and making her a bloody one-note villain at that.

And considering Ryu07 has said things in the past about wanting to make him not the villain or whatever however it was phrased, I just. Currently assume that Tomato will have to follow it, and even if they’ve been doing good changes right now... how in the world do you handle that?

I guess one way to make it seem less egregious is having the club members also remember stuff more and obviously, but even then, I’m just.... hoo boy.

the funny thing about the swimsuit madoka transformation is that, in any circumstance disconnected from magia record the game, I’d think that it looks kinda neat-- maybe it’s the Vocaloid fan in me with how many PV’s are done, but I think the live2d animation is charming

...it’s just the issue is this is in Magia Record, where most all of the transformations are outright anime-esque animated. Even if not all of them are Quality Quality, they’re still like, fully animated

and thus this transformation just feels--- odd.

I actually really like how this new chapter of Meguri was done

Showing how like, clearly broken Satoko was after that basically solitary confinement experience-- Rika actually trying to call out to her, but Satoko reacts... well, gives her a dead look, which I don’t blame her given what she. Thinks happened.

Her not even speaking on the drive being pointed out? Keiichi noticing something’s up? God. Of COURSE they’d notice they were all best friends-- and Keiichi being the big bro surrogate-- 

and god. Her looking longingly at the group and thinking back to the old days. My heart. I’m so, so so so sad for her...

NOT TO MENTION the fact Eua swooped her up there, at the moment, in that moment of longing. There’s something about that I like WAY more than the weird horn touching thing in the anime?? Like it FEELS way more like Eua grabbing her in her low point, in her moment of pain, of longing, of... just. God.

This is good. This is keeping my hopes up. Tomato, I believe in you to make Satoko’s downward spiral more true to her and not just ‘lets just imply what happens to loopers and not actually Show it in process and just Show her going from how she was to ‘mwahaha imma break rika’ like nothing’

Not me getting another AU idea while I need to finish Phyto's Guide and wanting to expand on my Werewolf/Assistant!Reader story for Alcina 😭😭😭

(Please, don’t steal any of this.)

But anyway. . . here's Modern!AU BusinessWoman!Alcina x PersonalAssistant!Reader that I need to get out of my head and share:

Alcina Dimitrescu is the CEO/president/top dog of some sort of business (wine? real estate? record label? IDK I don't do business people), and has been so for the past decade or so.

She's a mixture of Miranda Presley (The Devil Wears Prada) and Cat Grant (Supergirl)-- some would say an absolute demon, others would say a big ole bitch, but there's no doubt she gets her job done and done right the first time. Very high standards, very efficient.

She's also 6'5"-- 6'9" in heels, which intimidates the fuck out of her insecure male coworkers all the time.

She also goes through assistants like bubblegum, not in the sexual sense, but in the incredibly demanding and near-impossible boss way. The longest someone has lasted with Alcina was five months. The shortest = 1 1/2 months. Her standards are that high. (As you can see I drew a lot from Cat Grant because I was in the Supergirl fandom for a while don't shame me)

She is also an incredibly devoted mother to her 3 daughters, aged 12 to 16 (ages pending) and she somehow balances work-life very well. And those who can look Alcina in the eye can tell her family means the world to her and it's likely the only time she genuinely smiles and laughs when her daughters are in the office or she tells a story about them.

Not that those in the office would know-- they don't meet her gaze lest they chance being turned to stone.

(There are also rumors she's related to Countess Elizabeth Báthory or even Vlad the Impaler himself, what with her Romanian ancestry)

Anyways, she has the world in her palms, uber-rich, super fucking hot, and could get anyone and anything with a flick of her wrist. Top of the line style. Heels and eyes that could slice. And yet, in desperate need of a competent assistant that'll last more than 3 months.

On the other hand, you are quite the opposite of Miss Alcina Dimitrescu: practicality over panache for fashion, rather wear pants and loafers than skirts and heels (more for efficiency and comfort than anything else), not really into flaunting what you got. You come from a simple background, never really had money, just enough that it kept food on the table-- especially when you had a falling out with your parents.

You’re frugal as well. Your clothes are at least two years old, you dare not to shop too much for yourself, as you’ve been insecure with money before because of your parent’s kicking you out. Your phone is too many years out of date. A small one bedroom apartment. You prefer glasses over contacts because contacts are too expensive and its cheaper to just wear glasses everyday.

And yet, you’re whip smart. Efficient, stubborn, and determined to boot if you have the resources. You managed to make your way through college despite your parents not helping and you managed to land a good jig as the assistant to Nepotism Junior, one where you can afford a good, single, albeit small apartment, and you have at least a comma to your name when it comes to savings.

But it’s hard-- especially when you’ve been doing Nepotism Junior’s job for over a year during the year and half stint at the company. Long arduous hours where you are not only doing your job but also his while he does god knows what. It keeps you busy yes, but it also keeps his grubby hands and prepubescent one-liners away from you. So you can’t complain that it is all that bad.

(There is other things that may bring Alcina and the Reader first together, but I don’t want to divulge it here) It comes to a head one day when some misadventures and drunkenness leaves Nepotism Junior down for the count for an important meeting with some head honchos at the company. So you stand before them, giving them a presentation on the work he’s (read: you’ve) been doing for the past month. And frankly, it is some of your best work.

There are little hiccups, mostly just reanswering questions that some old geezers missed the first time. And Alcina has been quiet, for the most part as well, only sounding when she wants you to clarify somethings in “Nepotism Junior’s” presentation.

Somehow you don’t turn to stone when you meet her gaze at the head of table. Somehow your voice doesn’t waver like it would normally do. You know what you’re talking about.

“Give Nepotism Junior our congratulations for his work and presentation. We have a feeling we’ll be moving forward with his proposal.” She says, eyes on you the whole time. You can’t help how your mouth twitches at it.

And they leave. You go back to your desk and continue with your work, while Junior sleeps off his hangover. And that’s that.

Until it isn’t.

Because next week, you’re suddenly transferred to the Alcina Dimitrescu’s floor and you’re now her assistant. Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck.

To say you hit the ground running would be an understatement. It’s more like dropped in the middle of the ocean and expected to get to land miles way by a deadline, no boat or raft in sight.

The first week is hell. Week two and three is practically purgatory. And week four is back down to hell (you swear Miss Dimitrescu was testing you that week and expecting you to break under the strain, however, you’re fucking stubborn like a bull and won’t be pushed around by this entitled, snobbish, egotistical--)

The money is far better than before (like nearly double) and you actually do things in your job description (and then some). And you don’t have to deal with Nepotism Junior’s remarks and alcohol breath at 10am. So frankly, it’s a pretty damn good upgrade.

Week 5 is marginally better, things start to settle. Week 6 is when you begin to get Miss Dimitrescu’s temperament and routine predicted and you start to notice things you didn’t before.

She likes her coffee with two creams and one sugar one lighter days. One cream and no sugar on harder days. On Wednesdays she’s noticeably happier and more relaxed as you’ve learned that it’s her and her girls game night. Her brow creases in a particular way when she’s reading business jargon. It furrows in a different way when she has to read horrible drivel. She likes talking to herself through problems. She likes that you know what she’s talking about and sometimes bounces ideas off of you. When she likes your ideas she hums and follows up with it. If she doesn’t she sends you on a fetch quest.

Alcina Dimitrescu also has a horrible sweet tooth, especially when she’s stressed, and there’s a secret cabinet, you learned, where she keeps her stash. You walked in on her stuffing her face with chocolate one time and was nearly impaled with a fountain pen. (You make sure to keep it well stocked after that)

She’s a stern, but predictable woman. With moods you’re slowly starting to foresee even before 9:30am, before she’s half-way through her morning latte.

There’s an abrupt clatter to the ground as a surge of something dark crashes into you, the journal falling abandoned on the ground. Pale hands slip out from between your bodies and come to clasp at your shoulders, digging into the material and muscle with determined strength. You stagger back as warmth blossoms as your bodies come together and Donna’s grip brings you downward and downward and downward. . .

The veil’s layered fabric crashes onto your lips and you gasp as you feel Donna beneath it. Her lips are pleasantly cool and oh so perfectly soft, even behind the cloth separating you. Despite the chasteness, a fervent fire ignites and radiates between where two of you meet, curling and spreading and utterly encompassing. She’s now a blaze you can’t control and have no care to. You’re being consumed. You’re being razed. Her breath is sweet, too sweet that it has your mind reeling and spiraling. Until thoughts slip away into blissful nothingness as she presses further in, sating all your worries and doubts.

The shock has you stiffen from her kiss.

in tottenham’s defense of their defense, if you sort the table to only include minutes that were played XI v XI (still looking at NPxG conceded per 90) it looks a lot better. spurs jump from the aforementioned 17th to smack dab in the middle tied for 10th with both villa and newcastle. it’s a big jump. here’s that table if you’re curious:

last thing on porro, friend of the pod Baker from the Above Average FPL pod reminded me that first of all there are only two GWs in January and second of all the team is going to look different by the time those two GWs are done and dusted with spuds shopping for defensive depth and also possibly romero + VDV + maddo + others back by then. that makes a big difference!

So I’m in my @taylorswift feels this morning (cause when am I not?) and it’s mainly about the re-recordings.

Now of course I’m so proud of her for making this bold move and doing what she needs to do to own her own music, but it also breaks my heart. To me, some of the appeal of the older albums is that she sounds younger. Those first few albums are a teen/young woman’s view and experience with love, and as she grows and matures in her views you can hear that in her voice.

With the re-recordings you lose that growth, and part of my feelings on this are probably also influenced by the fact that I’ve been getting Taylor’s albums since she only had the one out and I’ve grown up with her.

Anyways, these are just my thoughts that I felt like sharing. Have a good day y’all!

Ok, I’m trying to find a book I started in middle school and I need help. It was a World War II book that mainly took place in India; the mc was a boy who started out in London, I think, and then was sent to this big estate his dad was in charge of? for his safety, but eventually that fails, and he escapes the house via a trapdoor fireplace. That I remember clearly. The cover was black, white, and green heavy, with elephants. I never got to finish it at the time and now it’s on my mind and I want to. Help!!

“Short Stack? Come sit.” 

Zari had been eyeing their father the entire night. They knew that at some point, he’d want to talk and it would be time to face their biggest fear; rejection. Again. For the most part, Zari understood tough love and why things had ended up the way they did with their father but there wasn’t enough therapy in the world that would prepare them for Benjamin Thomas’ wrath for the second time. “Um...” the spiritual director looked around and figured now was a good time as any to join their father on one of the benches outside of the church. “Sure.” 

It was surreal. Zari hadn’t heard that nickname in so long. As a matter of fact, outside of old voicemails and home videos, Zari hadn’t heard their father’s voice for far too long. They took the seat beside their father and cleared their throat. “Thank you for coming and donating the coats.” 

“Are you really a pastor?” Benjamin turned in his seat to face his offspring. “Like, when did that happen? And you’re clean?” 

“Yes. To both those questions. I understand if you don’t believe me. I’ve failed you more than once but also, I’m not hoping for some sort of reunion that’ll make everything go away so I understand if you’re on the fence about this. Amaya was just hoping that we’d get to talk. They have a great relationship with their father so ...” All of that minus the information about Raj and Amaya was false. Zari wanted nothing more than a reunion but Benjamin was eyeing them the way he did the day they got out of juvie. 

“Now, now. One thing at a time. I’m sorry if I came off a bit...callous. I’m genuinely surprised but pleasantly so. I’ve been reading about your work in the community paper. You’ve been doing a lot. And for the record, I’m glad Amaya did what they did. I heard about their relationship with their father, Raj. It made me think about us. Before everything went to shit. Shit, can I curse in front of you?” 

“Why does everyone ask that?” Zari chuckled. “I curse. It’s...fine. complicated but fine. I’m not like your regular ol’ pastor.” 

“I’ll say.” He cleared his throat and took a good look at his child. “Zari, I’m sorry for pushing you away and leaving you alone. You didn’t deserve that.” 

“I did, actually. I wouldn’t have learned my lesson otherwise and I screwed up big time. It built character---” 

“No. It left you alone in a time when you really needed me and I’m not going to justify my actions with what happened with your mom. I truly messed up and for that I am so sorry.” 

Zari stared for a moment, unable to form the right words. “I’ve already forgiven you.” 

“Ah, well you’re the better Thomas, then. But I’ve always known that. you got that from your mother. I was too self-righteous. And when I wanted to reach out and start over, I felt maybe it would have been best if I didn’t. I had already failed you once.” 

“Why now then?” Zari asked genuinely hopeful. 

“I got tired of being a coward and your significant other is a little scary, not going to lie.” 

They both laughed and the silence fell between them shortly after. “We’ve all made some terrible mistakes. I’ve got plenty I wish I never had to revisit.” 

“Me too, short stack. Is Frankie here? I have to thank them for helping you...” 

“They are but it’s...things are weird right now. We had a fall out. that self-righteous gene? I got that too.” Zari sighed. “But i’m learning. Like you, I’m trying harder not to be a coward.” 

“Hah. Well...good. Maybe we can brave this world together for a change? At your pace.” 

Zari stared again, letting a few seconds of silence fall once more before leaning in to pull their dad in for an embrace. “I’ve missed you, daddy.” They buried their face into their father’s shoulder. “I never stopped.” 

And with that, Benjamin embraced his first-born and kept them close, given them a tight squeeze. “I never stopped either.”

After looking through all of Frankie’s generous donation to their coat drive, Zari was feeling like they were on top of the world. Knowing that their dad would be at the drive was giving her a mix of anxiety and excitement. It was nice to be on talking terms with Frankie and to be given a chance to speak to their father. With Amaya in their life, things really felt like they were turning around for them. “I think we’re going to make well past our goal tonight! With the predictable weather plenty of people will benefit from all these donations!”

“We don’t start the coat drive until next month but this will be a great addition. I’ll make sure to add it to the others. Right now we’re working on our ‘Wednesdays we wear pink’ campaign. Basically, we’re volunteering our time to sit with breast cancer patients during their infusions, bring them some snacks, hang out, play a few card games or just talk. It’s a very popular event happening every Wednesday until end of October so if you’d like to join, you’re more than welcome!”

Just break the ice. Break the ice, Zari. For someone who spoke to people about feelings for a living, Zari was already failing this small mission that had set for themselves. Frankie was being a great sport about them and Amaya and it had awakened something in them. Suddenly all those memories came pouring in of Frankie and their ex and how Zari wanted nothing more than to make sure their best friend was okay. The more they thought about everything that had happened between them, the guiltier Zari felt about screwing up their friendship. And now that they were slowly trying to land on Frankie’s good graces, Zari was curious about the bartender that worked with Raj. In truth, the fact that Raj had set those two up should be enough for Zari but they wanted to meet August and hopefully form some sort of a friendship with them. IF they passed Zari’s test. Their plan was to go in to the bar and just spark up conversation until they figured out who August was but as they walked in, a curly-haired Tom Holland look alike left and all Zari could think about was how much this person was Frankie’s type--OH! “Hey!” Zari called out to them. 

“Hey...” They caught up with the other and smiled. “Hi. You look just like Tom Holland. That’s wild...”

So, Boku No Hero Academia World Heroes' Mission is finally on my country’s cinemas, and now that I’ve finally watched it, it’s time for my thoughts.

(Spoilers ahead!)

Let’s start off with the fact that I’m rewatching the movie, but this time it’s someone’s recording of it. Finding it might have taken me a while, but I am the master at finding pirated content.

My thoughts:

Izuku’s new suit man, I love it.

That intro tho, now that’s perfection.

Rody’s English dub. I never watch the dubs of anything, but I found a recording of the English dub so I’m rewatching this while I write. The point is, I already love his dub.

The fact that Izuku couldn’t catch up to Rody for a while is ridiculous.

Bones is trying to do way too cool scenes, to just realize that they don’t have enough budget to make them look good, but they don’t care so we end up with this, some scenes that look crappy to be done by animation studios, but wonderful if they were fanmade.

May I propose Midoriya Izuku as the best Spider-Man? My man caught his Gwen Stacy/MJ on his first try! /ref

Todoroki is seriously like “Break your phone and run away. I don’t care if you actually killed someone. Just run”. Or at least that’s how I’ll always interpret it since I saw a post about that.

Izuku seriously just went all Light Yagami there by sending that secret message.

“Cafetería Callejón” huh. So this actually does take place in Spain? I thought that article I saw was a joke or an exaggeration, granted, I didn’t read it, but still! (Later in the post I’ll talk about where the movie actually takes place).

the outline is for a jon pov safehouse fic in which jon has a series of tender dreams - sexy and otherwise - about martin, made more awkward by the fact they're sharing a bed and haven't talked about anything.

A Conservative MP has claimed that people taking precautions during the heatwave are “snowflakes” and “cowards”. 

John Hayes, who was previously a government minister at the climate change department, suggested that fear of the heat was everything wrong with modern Britain and “the state in which we now live”.

absolutely convinced the ot3 gets together after the rundown job and i cannot tell you why except to say that it’s the first episode their “walking towards the camera, arms around each other” bit has eliot in the middle 

there are a hundred and one moments in this show where the three of them could have slid so easily into something more than what they were, but it’s that end scene that makes me go oh. OH. a dynamic has shifted here
