Had a random thought, decided to bother you about it

What do you think your OCs' (+ SQ's if you want to answer about them too) musical instruments would be?

I'm thinking more along the lines of "which ones represent them best", like if they had a motif? If that makes any sense? But you can also answer who would play what, or what their favourite would be! Especially if those are different for whatever reason 👀

I've thought about this lightly before but I've not delved too deeply into it! So this was a fun exercise to think about.

For Zero I personally think of a Gibson Flying V guitar, it's got this really nice gritty sound and that distinct, iconic shape that has a unique flair that you wouldn't really expect on her. But she's actually quite fond of music, and she would be VERY fond of rock. The main inspiration for this thought was Barracuda by Heart, but I felt the guitar was really fitting for her regardless. It's a common instrument in the Fallout: New Vegas list of songs, which is her main 'visual' inspiration. But I think it nicely represents an aggressive 'expulsion' of emotion in music. It can be gentle and subdued, but it can also screech and howl with sound. She would definitely play it, even just an acoustic guitar, although she would probably be scared to break it!

I'm not AS confident with my assigning for Rory but I think an alto saxophone best fits him. It's a diverse instrument that really excels in soulful AND upbeat arrangements and I think that nicely encapsulates him as a person. It fits nicely into sweet love songs but it can uplift the spirit, and also reflect more yearning.

Alternatively, a harmonica would be cute I think. It's kind of a sad dinky little downtrodden sound but in a cute way, like he's down on his luck. But you can play it pretty well for a solo! I think a great example of these two ideas are: That's What Friends Are For (the 1985 cover by Dionne Warwick and Friends) and For Once in My Life by Stevie Wonder, respectively.

I don't know what Rory would play; I think he might dabble in singing cus the AAHW wouldn't pay enough for a good instrument and he wouldn't have the space to practice LOL. He would just sing to himself but I imagine if someone heard, it'd actually be pretty good.

Rory doesn't have a "signature" song yet (though Somebody to Love is definitely tempting), but Zero's is definitely Reno by Red Vox. Fits too well LOL

Ah man for SQ... I'd have to think really hard about that. Doc kinda strikes me as a pianist tbh, while Deimos would probably do electronic music on and off on his computer. Probably makes a lot of stuff he scraps and thinks sucks but is actually got a lot of potential, then latches onto an idea he really likes and spends a year really perfecting. Hank is a bass guitar, pairs with Zero well but I like the subdued sound, its an interesting but fitting contrast to me. Sanford I wanna say like... also saxophone, maybe a baritone? I really like the mental image of him playing a double bass, though. I like to think he has a delicate, trained touch and has some good lungs.
