#personal#i'm reading 'the shakespearean botanical' right now#(mostly bought it because the illustrations in it are extremely pretty)#and apparently in the 1920s there was a trend of people creating mini 'shakespearean gardens' using only plants mentioned in shakespeare#which to me sounds like such a cute idea#but the book then quotes contemporary authors going#"look at these stupid losers being tacky. they don't even know anything about real elizabethan gardens'#and it's just so gjfdjshgaj
