i think one problem i have with the sentiment of "endos are experiencing something ENTIRELY DIFFERENT than ME!!!" some anti endos have is like... how do you know? how do you Know that it's different?
do you solely define the difference as having trauma at a certain age? do you define it as the difference between being multiple "people" and being separated "parts"? is it the way they act? is being too "out there" or too "roleplay-esque" the difference? do you just decide that other people are experiencing delusions?
in my opinion, there's definitely some overlap in multiple-identity-something happening with LOTS of people. IFS, CDD multiples, endogenic multiples, polyminds, otherkin/fictionkin, therians with multiple theriotypes, other hallucination-disorders, imaginary friends, POSIC experiences, some types of religious prayer, mediums who connect to "spirits"... the list can go on and on and on.
there is a base experience that is happening in most or all of these, some sort of brain situation that is causing the "self" and "other" to blend together. hell, even talking to yourself in the shower and daydreaming may actually be using that part of your brain, although to a much lesser extent than some of the examples i've listed.
obviously, not all of these have perfect overlap with each other, but there's definitely some sort of spectrum and gradient between all of these experiences, and i do believe that there is something in the brain that is changed by all of these in some form.
just going "but muh experiences r UNIQUE!!11!!1!" just feels a bit... trying to create a boundary where there is little-to-none in actuality.
(also it is very important to note that i'm not saying these experiences should be treated as equal, but it's like comparing a fall off a bike that snaps your arm to a car crash that shatters even more of your bones. they both involve/cause broken bones. they're caused by pressure and impact to the bone that makes it go crack. although one is more extreme and needs more care and is affecting more things than just your bones than the other, my point is that they both involve bones breaking. same thing with the listed above experiences, although to a much less extreme degree for many of them)
#syscourse#hot take moment#had to add the disclaimer at the end because i am afraid of this being taken as i'm calling them all equal#i'm saying that they (in my very-not-a-neuroscientist opinion) probably have some sort of shared link in the brain and how-#-people perceive themselves#that would actually need testing to see#although i doubt actual scientists would compare EVERY category of people i listed to each other.#at bare minimum we might get the tulpa brain scans compared to DID brain scans at least for a while#maybe some day. just not this day.
