Day 5 - let's drink

We finally went drinking last night. I mean I knew from the get go my companion would like to get plastered as much as possible while he can legally do so over here so I wasn't exactly surprised when it began. We left the apartment at roughly 5:30 with Terry's older cousin Dayae (She's currently a college junior and can hold her own when it comes to drinking). As we walked down the city streets they let me in on the game plan. They planed on first getting dinner at a local shop and then heading to the Korean equivalent of a bar. Simple enough I thought as I munched away at some delicious Korean BBQ it sounded straightforward enough for me not to end up dying in the process of the merrymaking. We quickly finished up our meal and briskly headed off in the direction of the bar. Now frankly I'm no saint I've been in plenty sketchier places than a bar, but I was not prepared for the style of this place. Try to imagine an ancient Korean opium den filled to the brim with Asians the tables and booths scattered haphazardly around the place Korean music playing softly in the back ground all accompanied by the faint smell of cigarettes in the air. Simply put I thought it was pretty cool. We were ushered back to our booth as my ADHD ran rampant trying to soak in as much of the place as it could process. I finally began to calm down as they began to order. In addition to traditional Korean alcohol they ordered a large second dinner because it is apparently customary to do such. Shortly thereafter the waitress brought out our feast and the alcohol in an interesting manor. The alcohol was served in a large tea kettle with a small bowl of honey to pour into it to kill some of the taste you are also give small bowls roughly the size and shape of a tuna can to drink from. As they poured their first drinks of honey liquor into their bowl I filled mine with something a bit more my speed..... Sprite.( I would like to say I don't drink for many noble reasons but the truth is I would if I could but I can't so I shan't) As we toasted for the first time Terry told me the drink kills your memory like love in John Green novels slowly then all at once. Two large cups in he began to feel lightheaded three he said he didn't feel so well four he mumbled a little bit but continued and finally after the fifth said he was done drinking for the evening. I was a bit surprised to say the least while I was pounding my sprites like a champ Terry couldn't even match his usual drinking capacity which is legendary to say the least. We left shortly after as Dayae began to tell me the liquor while not extremely high in alcohol content ( 7% I believe ) it hits you right where it hurts from the beginning causing an upset stomach and an acute headache. After a relatively short night on the town we made it back home where I promptly fell asleep due to my high sprite consumption. I awoke the next morning to a rather disappointed terry who now is firmly on a quest for redemption which will surely be fueled by a metric fuck-ton of alcohol and more than likely shame.
