"Rafael, Lucía y las Noticias"

(Imaginario Ocasional)

Rafael y Lucía se encontraban en un pequeño puerto muy cerca de la Playa, Lucía estaba sentada, miraban al mar mientras las barcas amarradas se balanceaban suavemente en el agua. Rafael no podía dejar de pensar en las noticias que veía cada día, en las guerras y conflictos que azotaban al mundo. No entendía cómo el ser humano había llegado a ser tan ruin y egoísta con sus congéneres, con su propia especie.

Mientras tanto, Lucía estaba pensando en lo feliz que estaba de estar allí con su abuelo Rafael. No tenía que hacer deberes, había sacado buenas notas en el colegio y muchos amigos la esperaban a la vuelta de las vacaciones. Iría morena después de pasar tanto tiempo al sol, se sentía libre, era feliz.

Rafael, por su parte, seguía preocupado y distraído. No miraría al mar cuando regresara a casa, se abstraería mirando cualquier otra cosa del parque o en el bar del barrio y recordaría que todo pasa, que nada es para siempre. Pero aun así, en ese momento, mientras veía a su nieta tan feliz y sonriente a su lado, sintió una profunda paz y alegría. A veces, esos momentos simples e inolvidables son lo más valioso que tenemos.

So in the West, the predominantly influential form ICM was Hindustani (North Indian) music. This recording comes from the Nonesuch release ‘Pallavi: South Indian Flute Music’, which was a kind of classic amongst jazz musicians and a kind of introduction to Carnatic music for many of them (to a degree—-L Shankar plays on it, a few years after already having played on Clifford Thornton’s Communications Network and Archie Shepp’s Attica Blues). Funny for me—-the allmusic review was written by Eugene Chadbourne (!):

I am really, really far from being *particularly* knowledgeable about Carnatic music, but it is a great album, beautiful music, and kind of like Ravi Shankar’s ‘Improvisations on Pather Panchali’ and ‘Three Ragas’ are to Hindustani music a really great introduction to it imo (I think the other tracks are also on YouTube, this is track 1)
