blorbo projection is fun and all but when you’re projecting onto a blorbo to the point where you’re just contradicting their canon personality traits. i do not understand what the appeal is there
#mine#txt#og#fandom crit#i mean i get it when it’s like. marvel comics where their canon personality changes from writer to writer#so u rlly just have to pick and choose what parts you like#but a well-written blorbo?? who’s also written consistently???#where’s the fun in stripping them for parts don’t u want to enjoy that character as they are??#making sure dialogue/characterization isn’t ooc is one of the BIGGEST things i think abt when writing fic#idg the appeal of. doing the opposite of that basically

Okay, this Keithdoc idea sounds good, but what are your headcanons about the mysterious Keith? How do you picture him? You know, Keith being comically shrouded in mystery actually adds appeal to Keithdoc. There's so much to imagine! As much as I sympathize with him, 2D DOES deserve to be alone in this particular case. There's a reason Paula left him, after all.... On a less harsh note, I am very supportive of 2D growing by himself. Not everyone has to be paired up with another character to grow.
I'm actually really bad at this sort of thing, anon! I can't say I've thought about Keith too much. I don't have many strong opinions other than, "Murdoc going for a jock type makes sense considering his attraction to people like Vin Diesel and Tom Cruise."
I could get on board with various interpretations of Keith. I could see him as contagiously optimistic, cheerful type like Jason Sudeikis on Ted Lasso, who breaks through Murdoc's cynical, angry shell with upbeat pop tunes and positive affirmations. Or maybe he has a rougher, more commanding personality that appeals to Murdoc's, uh, subbier side, perhaps not intentionally at first...I could see some funny interactions coming out of that lmao. Or maybe he's just like, a bro who loves exercise and wants to share that with whoever...why inmates? Maybe he's got a political side to him. He could be anyone, really! I do imagine him younger than Murdoc, and obviously in better shape. Either way, the immediate clash of personalities is fun to consider.
And yes, 2D is a lot more appealing when his character has room to just be, rather than be the other half of a ship, which usually reduces him to predictable tropes. Idg the popular opinion that everyone is into him for whatever reason. Ace didn't even like him that much from what we saw of him. It's basically canon that he's a shitty partner. And I forgot about Paula but yes, she did leave him didn't she? (Murdoc played and active role in that too, of course) People really do see canon and come away thinking the opposite happened. But I’ll end on a positive note with you by agreeing - I think the one of the most powerful arcs one could give 2D’s character is the actual realization that he’s his own person, independent of the band, and, as you said, embracing the idea of growing by himself.
