 *   𝐄𝐂𝐇𝐎  was  born  on  march  23rd   1999   in  hendricks  county  ,  indiana   to  a  not  so  loving  mother   and  an  ever - adoring  father .    their  parent’s  never  married  ,  so  they’d  agreed  to  have  both  their  names  on  echo’s  birth  certificate .   and  ,  despite  popular  belief  ,  echo  is  the  name  on  the  document  ,  too  .

their  mother  ,  charlotte  madden  ,  had  left  echo  and  silas  finch   when  echo  was  only  four .  she  doesn’t  have  many  memories  about  her  ,  only  watching  her  on  the  evening  news  every  night  ,  after  her  mother  remarried  &  ‘ bettered ’  herself .  she  never  heard  much  from  her  mother  either .  she  took  inspiration  from  the  myth  her  name  comes  from  ,  and  secretly  referred  to  her  mother  as  narcissus .   sometimes  narcissa  ,  during  her  harry  potter  phase  when  she  was  twelve .   she  found  the  woman  to  be  selfish  ,  only  capable  of  loving  herself  &  abandoning  someone  who  ached  for  her .  just  like  the  myth .

silas  did  the  best  he  could  raising  echo .   he’d  spoil  her  the  best  he  could  ,  try  everything  to  understand  her  .   the  pair  lived  alone  ,  in  a  trailer  park  in  avon  ,  while  charlotte  was  off  living  like  she’d  never  been  involved  with  either  of  them  in  the  first  place .   silas  tried  to  better  himself  ,  too .   but  for  echo  ,  unlike  charlotte .   he’d  began  taking  night  classes  to  get  his  g.e.d.   &   picked  up  extra  jobs  where  and  when  ever  he  could .   he’d  bartend  on  days  he  didn’t  have  class  ,  he’d  work  handyman  jobs  here  and  there  ,   coaching  at  the  high  school  ,  and  ,  eventually  ,  landing  a  more  steady  gig  out  in  california   with  his  new  degree  in  music  --  doing  something  with  audio  engineering .   he’d  saved  enough  money  to  get  them  a  nice  place  .   it  was  small  ,  but  it  was  theirs  .  

echo  and  silas  left  their  little  trailer  when  echo  was  15 .   before  she  was  born  ,  her  father  was  going  to  be  a  musician .   &  now  he  got  to  work  in  music  ,  finally .   everything  echo  knows  and  loves  is  because  of  her  father .   she  gets  her  fire  from  him  ,  and  her  love  for  music  and  film .   

in  california  ,  silas  was  able  to  earn  enough  money  that  the  two  of  them  no  longer  had  to  struggle .  it  wasn’t  until  then  that  echo  had  even  really  realized  how  much  they  had  struggled  ,  before .   part  of  her  missed  it  though .   she  never  quite  fit  in  back  home  in  indiana  ,  but  that  was  almost  better .   in  california  ,  she  was  able  to  make  friends  ,  to  some  degree  ,  but  none  of  them  seemed  to  quite  fit . 

....  𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐥  𝐬𝐡𝐞  𝐦𝐞𝐭  𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐬 .

echo  is  fairly  reclusive  ...   she’s  a  bit  taciturn  ,  relatively  pessimistic  and  distrusting  &   slightly   (  self  )  destructive  .   she’s  a  little  mean  &  overly  honest   ,  spunky  and  reckless . 

i  would  love  connections  with  people  she  can  relate  to  on  these  things   &   connections  with  people  the  exact  opposite  of  her .

echo  always  did  well  in  school  ,  and  got  a  degree  in   film + media  production 

ALCOHOL  &  DRUG  USAGE  TW  (  ?  )  despite  being  generally  a  good  kid  ,  echo  rebelled  a  lot  before  moving  to  california  ---  minor  shoplifiting  & defacing  school  property   ,  detentions  &  one  arrest  for  vandalism  ,  though  she  was  let  out  and  received  practically  zero  consequences .   this  didn’t  really  change  in  california  ,  with  underaged  drinking  +  marijuana  consumption  being  added  to  shoplifiting  &  minor  defacement  of  property  . 

echo  started  stealing  because  she  thought  it’d  help  her  dad  ,  but  she  turned  into  a  bit  of  a  kleptomaniac .    now  ,  however  ,  she  just  thinks  it’s  fun  sometimes .

they  carry  a  notebook  with  them  most  places  ,  it’s  full  of  doodles , sketches  , lyrics , video ideas  and  general bullet journal - esque things .

some  of  echo’s  celebrity  crushes  are michael  cera  ,  jack  black ,  dave  grohl  , timothy  olyphant  &  lucy liu  .  her  first  childhood  crushes  were  victor van dort  ,  thackery  binx  &  jack  skellington   along  with  shaggy  rogers  &  the  hex  girls .  also , riff raff  &  magenta  from  rocky  horror  ,  as  well  as  sigourney  weaver  &  susan  sarandon . 

her  go - to  halloween  costumes  are  wednesday  addams  ,  thorn  from  the  hex  girls  (  or  just  a  witch  /  vampire  ,  since  no  one  ever  really  understood  the  reference  )  ,  lydia  deetz,  a  fairy  or  a  pirate  . 

was  probably  named  echo  because  her  mom  likes  mythology  &  her  dad  like’d  echo  &  the  bunnymen .
