I don't know how specifically horrific this is really, but Ieeha struggles with the concept of ownership in regards to belongings. He was taken in as the ward for his first noble house among many at the age of 8, where the life he lived was like a fantasy compared to the Brume where he was born.

However, every piece of clothing, every room and all the physical objects within them were ultimately not his. They were his to borrow for whatever duration he stayed with any given household, and no longer than that. He was already not the most mentally stable youth, and this additional lack of agency certainly didn't help matters.

Only around age 18 did he receive his own wardrobe and room. However, he struggles to perceive them as such even now, and gifts are hard for him to accept even to this day.

This is just a smaller form of a much bigger problem; that his worth as a person has always been measured solely in accordance with his proficiency with combat and medical abilities and how they could serve the Dragonsong War, so as to lend prestige to whatever noble house kept him (only for him to be tossed away to the next one everytime he became too "difficult" to deal with as a result of the trauma).

But it's nonetheless that norm through his upbringing which really conveys the intricasies of how he views himself in relation to the world, and how his reason for existing is to ultimately be a tool. That his worth lies solely in the number of lives he can save, every loss a permanent mark on his conscience for him to bear until he can no longer fulfill his duty.

Because I am a little hobgoblin and I love to read about peoples' OC's, I wanted to chuck out a random WoLQotD that I didn't want to use as a single ask for my drive: What, in your opinion, is the most horrific thing about your character's story? Is it who they are and how they treat the world? Is it where they came from; the wars, political divide, state of their family, etc. Is it the magic they wield/was it an event that defined them?

I love a little horror/angst in my worldbuilding, so I want to hear yours.

@sae-mian SO.MANY.BEAUTIFUL.BUNNIES! Also they are a master of gposing shots that evoke this very specific wistful melancholy vibe that is just ooooo, so perfect!
