i love how theyre making cloud a little more uncanny to everyone else but frankly i dont think the nibelheim section of the game is going to work at all with how theyre expanding it. i think the reason it was so eerie in the original game is because we got absolutely no details on any of it, except for the big things, and tifa still said at every turn that cloud was wrong. not to mention that cloud acting like zack directly contradicts how cloud currently acts -- the game itself has said that cloud didn't become zack, and his personality is still his own, so these scenes just being zack's animations, his words, his facial expressions ans actions ... it is all weird and uncanny, yes, but it does so in a way that feels distorted from the reality of the situation and frankly doesnt fit the text at all. it would be much better to see how cloud's mind tries to bend the real events of nibelheim, his own personality and experiences, and his memories of zack, together, into something unrecognizable to both him and tifa. to give off the impression that cloud wholeheartedly believes and "remembers" these events to be the truth, but has a tiny feeling that something isnt right. but they disregarded a faithful recreation of the text in order to adhere to fanservice and a narrative that both makes no sense and leaves me with no particular reason to want more, as it fails to give me any reason i should be interested. the new story, the new "old" characters and their personalities, the world itself... i have no reason to want to see any more of it, and if anything its only upset me in the bastardization of the characters i love and the story that truly captivated me in the first place. the development team of ff7r has completely missed the mark in terms of creating a successful remake, and its becoming increasingly clear they dont know what theyre talking about. it makes me more and more sad the more i think about it.
