( CLOSED STARTER. ) ↪ lilith baxter @strengthbound
Celeste certainly did not care for Valentine’s Day; the ‘holiday,’ if one could even call it that, had been so commercialized. And with no one significant to share it with, she had fully committed herself to ignoring it. It was to be just another day in the hospital, primarily going in to work to clock some hours on her research. She was surprised, though, to be interrupted by a delivery, a bouquet of flowers in the hands of a very unlucky delivery boy. She had practically swatted them out of his hand, needing to see who had thought it wise to send her such an arrangement. Seeing that they were from Lilith made her heart jump. She wanted to see them as a sweet gesture, but that was not her way. She let herself brew for a moment before brushing past the delivery person, flowers still in hand, as she made a beeline for the woman’s office.
Celeste did not even consider knocking, bursting into the room and waltzing up to her desk. She tossed the flowers onto the desk, having them land right in front of where she was sitting. “You can’t be serious.” The redhead’s hands settled onto her hips, a look of disapproval pasted on her face. She wasn’t sure why the gesture had reignited such antagonism inside of her. Lilith just had that effect, it seems. “What are those supposed to be?”

trainwreckss:
“ya, i snapped ok? that’s the end of it. over and done.” the yelling really wasn’t working for her. she bet celeste wasn’t gonna yell at lilith like this. bella would get all the blame when it took two to tango! “she obviously got all that crap about dad from you. she doesn’t even know him. she hates him because you do.” they always hated each other. her parents. bella hated it. her arms flew up in the air. she wanted a fight, bella could give her one. “apologize? what about her apologizing to me? would it kill you to take my side for once? you begged me to come to seattle. do you remember that? why? to yell at me and judge me for every mistake i make?” zero self-awareness in this moment. only aged anger. bella just kept going. “i’m literally your blood, and you always find things to care about more than me. work. image. your girlfriend. i know you didn’t want me, but you could at least pretend that you like me for more than 20 seconds.” oops.
Celeste shook her head. “This is not about you apologizing instead of her, Bella. It’s about how you should apologize regardless of what Lilith does.” Lilith was a grown adult who she had zero control over. But Bella was her daughter, so the least bit of influence she had there she would use to encourage her to do the right thing in this situation. She was surprised by the sudden anger that seemed to spill out of her daughter, mouth open slightly as she listened to the words. “Of course I recall asking you to join me. While I’m happy that you’re here, that does not mean you will not be held accountable for your actions!” Life wasn’t without consequences. Celeste wasn’t going to pretend like it was. “As a matter of fact, Bella, I am seldom interested in yelling at anyone, least of all you.” She would have gone on, but Bella cut her off, continuing down this jagged path. And then, her breath hitched. The words left her daughter’s lips with such nonchalance, but they hit Celeste like a sucker punch. I know you didn’t want me. That wasn’t something that Bella had ever said to her before, and it forced the older woman to pause for a moment in the silence. “Wh-where did you get that idea?” Her hands clenched together, taking a step forward towards the younger woman. “Don’t you ever say that. You are my daughter. I love you more than you could ever understand.”

Love from the shadows
Part 2
The Originals AU story
Elijah Mikaelson x Camille O'Connell (Camilijah)
a/n: Elijah and Camille are friends and colleagues. She has a crush on him, but keeps it to herself, as Elijah is known to be quite the ladies man.
Anyway - it's a little something - I hope you enjoy it. Thanks for reading. 😀📖💕🎈
💕🎉
Morning found Camille, waking up next to Marcel, which made her freak out a bit as she realized what had happened. A Tequila shot too many. Never again. She thought as she now sneaked out of the bed and disappeared in the bathroom to get dressed.
Getting out of it in a little while, she was met by Marcell smiling with a charming smirk on, "Morning, beautiful."
"Hey" Camille said with a little gulping smile, "I - uhm- this is just one of those things, right? Not that it wasn't good -"
"Relax - yeah." Marcel said.
"Ok. Ahm - I got to go. Later."
"Later." Marcel said as Camille rushed out of the apartment.
Camille hated that she let herself gothat way. She was a girl, who loved the romantic dates. Dreamt of a big white wedding. Dreamt of Elijah. Even though she knew he was not into serious relationships. She knew his track record. Aya, Celeste, Sabine, Antoinette, Gia, to name but a few, and now Hayley, one of her bffs.
But was Elijah such womanizer, really? Or has he not found the one?
*
In Elijah's apartment
Hayley woke up finding the bed empty. There was a note, saying 'Great night.E.'
She also found a tray of breakfast with a flower in a little vase.
'You got style, I give you that" Hayley muttered taking the bagel, "No wonder Cami is so into you."
*
Elsewhere
"How are things?" Klaus said as Elijah picked up the phone.
"Fine - you? How is Paris?"
"Pretty great. So, are you coming for my birthday?"
"I certainly am. I've already booked a flight. Kol tells me you have gone into crazy mode with the party plans."
"Well, it's my 40th and I just want to splash out." Klaus said.
"And so you should. Right. I got to go. I will see you soon." Klaus said and hung up.
Finishing his coffee, Elijah went up to the window, flashing back to his conversation with his sister the other day.
Flashback
"I met Kol's girlfriend. She is so amazing and he is so wrapped up in her. I haven't seen him so in love like - actually never. It's cute. And talking about love and falling in love - it's Valentine's in a few days - I guess you will end up taking someone home - hook up - seriously, don't you think that it's about time you unfroze your heart? "
"Bex, please -" Elijah took a deep silent breath,"Love is overrated."
"You don't really believe that -" Rebekah continued, but her brother changed the subject of love and his heart to the upcoming trip to Paris.
Years back, in a church in Chicago, Elijah waited at the altar. The woman he was about to marry left him jilted. Breaking his heart. He vowed not fall for anyone again. Ever.
Putting his thoughs away, he returned to the daily tasks.
🎬
Camille pushed the one night stand with Marcel away in a box of crazy mistakes, and same as Elijah went into the working mode.
And as times progressed, working alongside him, seeing him hooking up with Hayley on a regular basis took its toll.
One evening as Davina and her met for a girly night out she splattered the big news to her friend.
"I was approached by a Firm from Boston and I decided I will take the job."
"You are not serious?" Davina looked at her friend a tad bit wide-eyed.
"I am" Camille huffed. "I need to get away - forget about Elijah - working next to him, seeing him every day and knowing that he will always be a player - it's a living Hell. "
"Well - I hate to see you go, but I get it. To get him out of your system, you need to move - but can you not go and work for another Firm here?"
"I will still see him. We have the same friends... you know" Camille explained l.
"I know" Davina said, giving her friend a warm comforting hug.
Not long after, Camille left, because loving someone from the shadows just was something her heart couldn't handle anymore.
🎇
Six months later
Camille walked in Rousseau's, and her eyes set on Elijah, who now waved at the blonde a little, somewhat surprised to see her there.
"What are you doing here?"
"Hey - I am here for the wedding. I am meeting Davina. You? How are you? I hear you have made partner?! Congratulations."
"Yes. Thank you. A drink?"
"Yeah."
"Beer?" Elijah suggested.
"Yes. Thanks."
"So, how are things in Boston?" Elijah now asked, "I still don't get how you just took off, not that I blame you. Fish&Cage are a good firm."
"The offer was too good to pass. Sorry that I left you in the learch - So, how have you been?" Camille said taking seat.
"Fine. Tell me about you and Boston? I bet you are Boston Celtics fan now. "
"No. I am still very much a Pelicans fan. Die hard, don't you know?"
"Yeah - I didn't forget it. You and Kaleb and Marcel were crazy when they played in the finals. Never seen someone so passionate about a game."
"Well, I got tickets. Wanna come?" Elijah said.
"What? You usually go with Klaus?"
"Ah, he is away with his new girfriend."
"Klaus has a girfriend?"
"Yes. Caroline Forbes."
"The Caroline Forbes?" Camille was surprised.
"Yep." Elijah took a swag of his beer. "He is thinking of proposing."
"What? OMG! I never thought that I would hear this. He found the one."
"He found the one."
"And you?" Camille now asked feeling her stomach knotting.
"Me? No. You?"
"No. Haven't found the one yet." Camille said, turning to Davina, who greet them," But, she's found the one, in Junior High already."
The women now hugged, and as Davina ordered a drink they went off to a table to talk wedding stuff. Elijah had his office colleagues arrive and he now chatred away with them.
And during the talk with Davina, Camille could not help herself but sway to look at Elijah a few times.
"You're still into him?" Davina now asked.
"What? Who? Me?" Camille said innocently.
"Yeah, you Cami!" Davina exclaimed.
"Ok. Yeah. Huh. He is still so hot. Damn." Camille said.
"Hot. And a total womanizer. Don't go there."
"I am not. I hear Hayley still hooks up with him."
"Yeah. We had a huge argument, just yesterday. She was with Jackson, too. And he is such a good guy. He didn't deserved this." Davina said.
"Ok. Let's talk bridesmaid's dresses." Camille now said to change the subject.
But, despite Camille's better judgment and all the alarms going off in her head to stay away from Elijah, she ended up accepting to go to the game.
Days after, after the game they ended up in a bar, later, celebrating the win.
"This was such a great game." Camille was still in a full on cheering mode.
"I agree. It really was. I had great fun. So, Tequila?"
"Yeah. But just one. I'll have a beer." Camille said.
As the clinked with the glasses for the win, they both downed the drink.
As a song came up on the karaoke at one moment, made Elijah suddenly grab Camille's hand getting her to the small dance area.
Swaying to the music, they joked a little about it as they now remembered the time they did a karaoke thing while they were working on a case.
"I was actually amazed that you could sing" Camille said.
"You were not bad yourself"
"Oh, please - I was so out of tune. Did you not see everyone's faces - they were silently begging me to stop"
"You just needed practice" Elijah chuckled.
"I will stick to the law - I am much better at that."
"I second that" Elijah said, and pushed her gently out into a twirl. As he pulled her back, she was flush against him. Both stopped still and looked at one another. Camille sucked a heavy breath in.
They were staring into each other’s eyes. Elijah's full lips were only inches from hers. She could feel his warm breath brushing over her skin. She had imagined standing like this with him so many times, and every one of those times, he had kissed her.
And then, it suddenly was better than any dream. His head now lowered toward hers, and his lips found hers.
His kiss, his lips firm, his tongue gentle. The shoulders under his hands went rigid with restraint, a vibration of control suddenly crept up as she kept herself in check, halting the kiss, levering back. Desire and apology cut hard lines into his face as he beamed down at her.
Tequila that was coursing strongly through her veins, hitting her head, muted the voices that were shouting, telling her this was not a good idea.
But then, overriding them, swiftly as the cat she shot both her hands in his hair, yanking his mouth to hers down. Wild, nearly desperate, she slid her tongue inside, pressing her entire body along his length.

KHUX Week Day 5- Post Traumatic
Synopsis: Strelitzia copes with her near death experience. Ciel dives into to his girlfriend's heart and learns he isn't alone
Themes: Nightmares, PTSD
Warnings: Blood, Some Strong Language (Strelitzia's mouth may surprise you), PTSD, Violence, Fake Character Death. (It's a nightmare)

Ciel found himself in a dark corridor. "Damn it, what the hell does this all mean?" He then notice that this was the same room Strelitzia was nearly killed in. "This must be her nightmare." The Nightmare Chirithy was absent. Ciel kept his guard up anyways owing to his astute nature. "Is that Ven? He's a bit off... aw, crap! He's a witness! Ven, fight the darkness!" Ciel attempted to warn Ven, but to no avail. He was in his girlfriend's nightmare. "Anyone there?" Strelitzia asked. She had no idea that she would be attacked. Ciel was now a witness to who truly attacked her and there wasn't a damn thing he could do about it. "STRELITZIA, RUN! GET THE HELL OUT OF THERE!" The nightmare wouldn't let him. He knew what was gonna happen.
Darkness attacked Strelitzia. They slashed her at the stomach and then impaled her with a Keyblade of darkness. Ven immediately tried to help, but was pushed out of the room along with the book. Ciel couldn't move in for a bit, but he resisted with all of his anger and hate. This was the first time he truly wanted to kill somebody. Strelitzia started to cry purely out of fear. "Lauriam... Celeste... CIEL!" This cry led Ciel to finally intervene. Without any words Ciel assumed an aggressive battle stance to let Darkness know that he is pissed. "WHAT YOU'VE DONE IS UNFORGIVABLE, YOU BASTARD!" Ciel screamed at the top of his lungs. He then charged at Darkness, entered Rage Form, and attacked not with his usual zen-like fury Lumieres usually have, but with tangible human rage. He was determined to kill Darkness. "I'll end this right here! Right now! I'M GONNA KILL YOU!" Before Ciel could finish the fight with a Zantetsuken, he was whisked away back to the real world.
Ven was afraid that Ciel might attack him due to his role. Ciel, while angry, did not attack Ven. "You didn't hurt her. Even in that hellish nightmare, you did your best to save her." He hugged Ven, well aware that Darkness was the one. Strelitzia checked her stomach for any wounds. She wasn't bleeding. Ciel checked himself in a mirror to ensure he wasn't bleeding. He had a minor nosebleed from re-entry, but he's fine. "It's the same nightmare. Ven, would you please leave the room?" Ven left the room, leaving only Ciel, Strelitzia, and Lauriam in the room.
"I'm going after the person responsible for the shit we suffered," Ciel said. Strong language was not his means of swearing, but his anger was still fresh. Strelitzia was crying. "Everytime I have that dream, I see blood on my dress, my hands, and I'm always laying down in a puddle of my own blood." Those images were shown. Strelitzia was bleeding to death in every nightmare she had... and there was always a Keyblade jammed into her ribcage or heart. Her dress, once a pristine white, was now a blood soaked red. Her hair was a mess and her pigtails were undone. Ciel's anger was rising along with Lauriam's. "It's always the same dream. It always ends in the same damn way! Strely walks in to the room and SHE ALWAYS DIES! AND THIS BASTARD IS OUT GLOATING THAT THEY NEARLY KILLED SOMEONE! SHE! DID NOT! ASK! FOR ANY! OF THIS SHIT! We need to do something now!" Ciel was fueled by his own anger. "Don't worry, we'll teach them a lesson they won't forget," Lauriam had assured Ciel. "It's always the same fucking nightmare, guys. Ven can't help me and Ciel intervenes when it's too late. Whenever I'm with you two, I feel calm. Ciel... don't die," Strelitzia said before she began crying. Ciel and Lauriam were shocked by the sudden use of the F-bomb from Strelitzia, let alone the fact that she is truly scared. "Did she just use-" "She used the F-bomb. If your sister EVER uses that level of cursing, she's got some serious shit she needs off of her chest. We need to do the right thing before history repeats itself and we all get a fracking Keyblade jammed into our chests." Ciel had made a point. Just then, Strelitzia began panicking. "No... I won't let somebody put another Keyblade into my ribs." "Strelitzia, it's okay. Ciel and I won't let anyone harm you as long as we're still alive." Darkness ran up to Ciel. Ciel was not having it. "Kill her and take her-" Ciel had other plans. "Hurt her or anyone I care about again and you will not live to ruin another day." Ciel casts a light spell strong enough to force Darkness out of the area. "Leave her the hell alone, Darkness." Ciel had his family's cold anger back in him and Lauriam is impressed by how deadly Ciel can be when pissed off. "That is the angriest I have ever seen you." "I was a screaming ball of rage like Celeste ends up being every time she's pissed off." The two boys took Strelitzia home. "We're both crutches for each other." "She wanted us to move in with you." "I could use a brother right now." Ciel and Lauriam ended their day with the move and some old fashioned root beer under Ciel's request. "Are you sure Celeste can handle her? The two broke up." "Ah, she's a sister to her now. You know how we big brothers operate when the little ones who come after us are in danger... and some of the bigger ones who came before."
(This is probably my bloodier entries for KHUX week and is among one of the darkest entries I made so far. The use of blood serves as how I'll treat the violence of the story when applied to humans. Rest assured, Arcadia Lost will have a well needed curse at least once per part. As for Strelitzia's F-bomb, she really needed it due to the fact that she nearly lost her life.)

( CLOSED STARTER. ) ↪ lilith baxter @strengthbound
She felt angrier leaving Bella’s than she probably should have. Maybe it was because of the mistake Celeste and Lilith had made previously after the...incident in Lilith’s office. Things with Lilith just seemed to keep piling up which was the exact opposite of what Celeste had intended when they both arrived here. But to have lied to her about something that had occurred with her own child...perhaps Celeste needed to start making better decisions, but that would not begin tonight. She hit the elevator button with a fury, making her way up to the penthouse apart. Her hand hit the door with force, making quite sure Lilith would be able to hear. The door was not open for long before she opened her mouth. “Was it Bella who hit you? Do not lie to me again.”

strengthbound:
“Don’t act like you want to help with ‘my actions’ as you put it. I don’t forget it Celeste. I never forget you know that, so the consequences are there.” It seemed like part of a curse for Lilith, that as drunk as she got she was never likely to have forgotten it the following morning. It’s why she hadn’t even bothered trying to act like she hadn’t known what had happened last night with Celeste. “I did not come here to clear my conscience I-” last night she probably would have rambled about how she had just wanted to see her again, about how she’d missed her and needed her but now that she was relatively sober she was able to tamper down the impulse. “I didn’t ask you to take care of me. You did that yourself.” Whether or not Lilith was talking about now or in London she wasn’t sure. “And I’m sorry it was such a burden. It won’t happen again.”
“Not forgetting and facing those consequences are different things entirely.” Her voice was hard and tough. She straightened her shoulders, not being able to release any of the tension she was now feeling in her body. “I’m not so sure you could accept help if it was offered to you.” It was still offensive to Celeste that she would have to explain any kind of care she showed for the other, even if it was just talking about her well-being. She may come off as cold sometimes, but she as not cold-hearted. “Then why. If not for that, then what.” Celeste asked, eyebrows raised as she waited for the answer. It was something she expected a response to. Some kind of explanation since Lilith seemed to think the redhead had it wrong. She scoffed. “Lilith, you asked for it just by showing up here in your state. Were you thinking I would possibly let harm come to you? That I may look the other way? Honestly, how little you think of me...” She shook her head, biting back the hurt that had been imposed. “Oh stop.” Celeste rolled her eyes. "What good is self-pity? You clearly have an issue you are avoiding addressing.”

Celeste would not typically be set to instruct a skills lab for the interns and residents, but being new to the hospital, she felt it was important to introduce herself. More so, Celeste strived to get a lay of the land. Understand the capabilities of their surgical residents, who she should look out for, and who would collapse under an ounce of pressure. There was always one. However, as she entered the seemingly empty skills lab, Celeste immediately felt the presence of someone else. “You there!” Celeste hollered, noticing another person across the room. “Assuming you are not obscenely early for my lecture,” she started, doubting that the girl was even someone who would be attending, “would you mind telling me why you are in here without permission?”

@sgmwesters:
millie was set to be staying late, a couple of mothers-to-be under her care were better off with some monitoring throughout the night - there was nothing she hated more than the midnight ring of pager. the sound of it always felt so much worse in the dead of the night, somewhat more palatable when you’d opted to stay in the hospital yourself. she’d not taken much notice of where she’d paused, head buried in results she’d just picked up, eyes focussed on a slight anomaly she hadn’t expected to arise when the hollering caught her attention. “i don’t think you’re going to want these results, but believe me feel free to take them off my hands if you’d rather stay here all the night. that way i can get back to own bed.” she suggested, her voice laced with a joking tone though it stopped when she sensed it might not be well received. “would you like to get coffee? the walk might do some good.”
Celeste turned her head slightly, catching the other woman’s eye. “Dr. Kaplan...” She let out a breath as her pace slowed, but still turned, walking the path she had been repeatedly tracing over. “I very well may prefer them.” Awaiting her own results was no fun game, especially considering she wasn’t sure she would like what they showed her. “I gather I will remain her for the night regardless.” Venturing home would not help clear her mind, so either way, a restless night awaited her. It may as well be a productive one. Celeste checked her watch, not that the time would really change much. “Perhaps you’re right.” She let out a breath, reaching for her phone to take with her. “I am sure I’ll need one before long.” Her connection to the other attending was not a strong one, but she would not concern herself with it over a coffee. “What is keeping you here this evening?” She asked, stepping towards the door, hand on the handle to shut it behind her.

( CLOSED STARTER. ) ↪ bella peterman @isabellapeterman
Celeste had experienced one of those days that as soon as she stepped through the door of her home, she kicked her heels off. It was rare for her to leave things so carelessly on the floor, but her head rang from the incessant throbbing. It was not long before she made her way over to the cart in her living room, pouring herself a drink from the decanter and lowering herself into a nearby chair. Her fingers pressed to her temple as she casually sipped. There was little keeping her from just fading away right there...until a knock propelled her to straighten up. “What in the...” There was no real reason she should be expecting guests, unless of course Lilith had started her drinking much earlier than in previous nights. Celeste shook her head in annoyance, ready to open the door with a stern look already on her face. However, as it swung open, her face immediately softened, eyes first landing on the fiery locks of red hair, followed by the vibrant blue eyes staring back at her. “Bella...” Celeste managed to say, the name leaving her lips with a breath. “What are...is everything alright?” Not the typical greeting one could expect from a mother surprised by her daughter, but they were not a typical pair.

( CLOSED STARTER. ) ↪ aj murphy @littlexunsteady
A mere few weeks running the department, and she was already down a couple of doctors. The news of the plane had been quite the shock to Celeste. One of her doctors had been involved; one she had yet to even meet. Tracking down the famous Dr. Murphy was more troublesome than she thought. Checking the OR board following her last surgery of the day, Celeste erased some information before heading over to the nurse’s station. She grabbed herself a tablet, standing next to a man at the counter. Curiosity got the best of her as she glanced out of the corner of her eye for a name or a badge. “Doctor Murphy.” Celeste stated, a sigh of relief mixing with her greeting. She turned to face the man. “I apologize we have been unable to meet sooner. Doctor Celeste White. Your new chief of general surgery.” She extended her hand to shake his. “How are you feeling, hmm? I would love to know when we can expect to have you back in the rotation.”

Weeks on the job, and Celeste had already been overwhelmed by paperwork. Files left to her by her predecessor no doubt. Not the welcome gift she was anticipating. Sitting in her office, Celeste searched through the stacks on her desk, never finding the exact paper she was looking for. She sensed another presence entering her space, yet the redhead did not even consider looking way from her work. “Whatever it is, it will have to wait.” Celeste dismissed without a second thought. “Clearly the previous chief of general did not have the good sense to actually complete departmental paperwork. Therefore, unless someone is in the process of dying, you may want to think twice about interrupting.”

Celeste nursed her drink, making small talk with a various assortment of people. She could do it, and when she was a nominee, she it was anticipated. At least in those cases, she was able to discuss her own research. That was much more tolerable to her than having to engage on any other topics. She glanced around to see if Lilith was nearby to save her. “Well, considering I flew ten hours from London, I certainly hope it is worthwhile.” She sipped from the glass before leaning in towards the individual she was speaking with. “Although, between you and me, the doctor from Mayo’s research is insubstantial, at best. Frankly, I’m shocked they let him through the door.”

( CLOSED STARTER. ) ↪ lilith baxter @strengthbound
Celeste’s tenure at Seattle Grace Mercy West hospital had been brief so far, but she was finding her way. She wasn’t one to be timid or nervous around new folk. She was focused on the work, striving to build a strong and and capable general surgery department while also expanding her research. This is what she felt content with, despite being relatively alone in the city. Although, a familiar face was bound to re-enter her life. Celeste stepped into the lounge with an article in hand, eyes tilted down as they scanned the text. She normally would not have even looked up, but some presence in the lounge compelled her head to tilt up. “Lilith...” She said softly, body glued to the ground where she paused. Celeste had not yet seen Lilith since she left for Seattle. She had once tried to infer that Lilith join her, but her idea had seemingly been rejected. Except now, she was here. In front of her. “You look...well...” She stubbornly forced the words out, a hint of bitterness was left over from the hurt she had felt.

( CLOSED EVENT STARTER. ) ↪ max walker @lostatseattle
Celeste had a decent amount of respect for these kinds of ceremonies, having been a nominee at a handful herself. She felt it was her obligation to enjoy them when invited, although even she had to admit they were a little tough to get through when you had no award to look forward. She supposed that was why the bar was there. Still, she required some fresh air to save her from the stuffiness of the room, stepping outside the first chance she got. Celeste had only taken a few steps around the building before a familiar figure caught her eye. A hint of amusement ran through her. “Something tells me I should not be surprised to find you here.” She took a few steps toward Max. “Of course, this is considerably less exciting than the first time we met.”

Celeste’s usual ability to collect and compose herself had been tested the past few weeks. She was eager to push the blame onto Lilith or her daughter, but her lack of level-headedness was her own. There was little else she could push off onto others. To get her mind moving again, attempting to work through a method of treatment for one of her cases, Celeste had resorted to pacing around her office. She was just lucky she hadn’t resorted to breaking out the bottle of scotch in her bottom desk drawer (yet), considering she could feel someone’s presence at her door. “I detest people who loiter.” She hollered out, not even needing to turn to confirm that someone was there. “My doorway is not a rest stop.” The pacing continued. “If you are going to interrupt, you best have test results for me, or at the very least, a strong coffee.” Typically she would opt for tea, but it was going to be a long night.

“Sorry Dr White I had been told that you had had a meeting earlier and I didn’t want to interrupt if that was still ongoing.” Zoe explained gently as she walked into her office with both coffee and results. Her interactions with some fellows and attendings (Yang) had taught her that it was good to have some caffiene when potentially interrupting and she put the cup down in front of her. “I have Mr Jenkins’ blood results but there doesn’t seem to be anything abnormal.”
Celeste sighed, turning on her heels to face the entryway to her office. “Well come on in, then.” She let her hands fall to her sides. “My doorway is perfectly capable of holding itself up.” The residents at the hospital were rather timid, if you asked Celeste, and it was certainly something they needed to work on. No one had ever met a successful and timid surgeon. Seeing a cup and papers in her hands, though, was a good sign. “Give them here.” Her arm outstretched, fingers gesturing for her to pass the test results her way. She started examining them herself. “Damn.” Celeste muttered, coming to a similar conclusion as Zoe. Nothing abnormal would usually be a good sign, but not when she had failed at all other turns to officially come up with a diagnosis for their patient. “We have a patient in severe pain exhibiting no clear signs of ailment of disease. What is your advice on how to proceed, Dr. Hammond?” If she was being honest, Celeste also needed some more time to figure it out herself.
