follow up to my last ttyd remake post: i found and killed one amazy dayzee and went to floor 80 in the pit (to grab bump attack)
actually didn't take too long to find an amazy dayzee. the trick is to run from the battles if they're not there, and switch areas, since the enemies in the battles are determined when you enter the area (and you also don't want to have to leave to get them to respawn)
so i found one, and had to use my partner's turn to tattle it, so mario wasn't able to kill it in one turn and it ran. so then I ran and reentered the battle and there it was again. got it that time
as for the pit, the 60s and 70s were starting to get a little tricky (i came close to dying a couple times, and while i did level up once down there--reached superstar rank finally!--it was right after i had to heal to avoid dying so it basically did nothing for me lmao) so considering what i've heard about the floors after that, i may end up falling back on my previous plan to use danger mario to beat it (i was so focused on bonetail i forgot about the other shit i'd have to get through to reach her)
however--instead of doing power rush focused danger mario, i think i'll stack a ton of close call instead (17 of them gives mario a 1 in 1000 chance of getting hit), so that way at least it won't all end in one turn (though i could still use some power rush). this would also be cheaper to set up, since if i did the math right it would take 26 power rushes to beat bonetail in one turn using power bounce (missing the 1 frame window on the fourth bounce) after goombella tattles her. at that point i'd only have to worry about keeping my partners alive (or at least goombella so she can tattle everything new in those last 20 floors)
then when i go back to the gamecube version when i'm done with this game i can set up power rush danger mario and beat everything in one turn there
anyway next i think i'll hunt like 5 more amazy dayzees so that i can bump attack everything in my way to the bottom of the palace of shadow. and fight the shadow queen finally (like. yeah ok it would be faster to just go back down and fight or avoid those enemies but... i'm closing in on 99bp and it would be fun to reach that, so the alternative would still mean hunting amazy dayzees after i beat the game. so in the long run i'm saving time)
