the rewatch is on pause rn but i am genuinely still head in hands over mr james bond (craig edition) bc . he is the one bond that most got called jaded ruthless animalistic etc and he no doubt does possess all these qualities but at the same time he is also the one who fell in love so deeply that he quit the job that was essentially his life and then spent the next four movies trying to cope with the loss of that love

he is also the guy that had to be ordered twice to not continue giving first aid to a wounded colleague and instead leave him to die in order to pursue an attacker who would ultimately get away and when mathis got shot and was afraid to die and asked him to please stay bond cradled him in his arms and when felix died he didn't let go until he had to choose between dying holding on to his best friend's corpse and the chance of life and getting the one resposible

and his silly banter with judi dench m! that stupid dog figurine! the trust and camaraderie with q and moneypenny! the cheeky one-upping with 007 and mallory m!! the way he was ready to risk life and limb for a kid that he was told wasn't his!! him making a shitty little breakfast so the kid's mum could sleep in for a bit longer!!!

idk idk there are a lot of things to say abt james bond both as a franchise and a character but i love the craig films i love this grim butch softie who tries to be tough and above it all and then picks up his little girl's favourite stuffed animal and drags it with him the whole way up to the sky so he doesn't have to die alone in the dark
