MAYBLADE 2022 DAY 16 - “LILAC” 

Did you know, in the language of flowers, purple lilacs are supposed to signify first emotions of love or first love? 

My first encounter with Beyblade series happened when I was a child. Digimon Adventure had just finished airing and the series it was being replaced by was the first season of Beyblade. I had watched a few teasers of it here and there on the channel and was a bit intrigued by it but a few episodes in I was bored. As someone who had been used to characters like Misty, Mimi and Sora, watching a show where a hot-headed or determined or considerate girl wasn’t setting the boys straight in every episodes seemed like next to impossible for me. Fast forward to a year later, I happened to tune into the channel at an unusual time and the episode where Hilary makes the training regimen for the team was on air. I saw her arguing with Tyson and thought, well she is hot-headed and determined and considerate, and instantly fell in love with her. 

Of course as I became a regular watcher of the series, I went on to obsess over Kai and Tyson (in that order), but the fact remains that I only started watching Beyblade for her.
