It had been a little bit since Zane had hung out with Bowie, and he felt bad about that. He had been picking up extra shifts at the diner lately to keep busy, so he didn’t have much free time. It was his day off from the diner though, so he decides it’s time to pop by and visit with his friend. "Hey, open up! It's Zane! I brought a pizza!" He calls out, knocking on their door. "Get it while it's hot!"

Malachi could relate to the feeling of just needing to hit something. There was something special about taking all of the thoughts buzzing around in your head and centering them on a single target that couldn't be hurt regardless of how many times or how hard you hit it. He found it centering, therapeutic even. "I hear you," he replied as he moved further into the room. "Should be finished by the end of the month, if everything goes according to plan." The contractors didn't anticipate anything delaying the timeline, but you never knew with these kinds of things.

"How was your day," Malachi asked. As he spoke, he wrapped his hands, the motion like second nature to him. "Any clients give you trouble? Or was it all run of the mill stuff?" Mal didn't want to pry, but he wanted Elijah to know that there was space here if he wanted to talk about whatever was bothering him. While Mal had found hitting a bag to be therapeutic, he'd also found that talking to someone could be therapeutic in a different way, and he wanted to provide the same opportunity for Elijah. "Mind if I join you?"

To say that Gio was a fan of Narcotics Anonymous would be an exaggeration. It would be a lie, even. He didn't want to be there, yet he was. Every morning, 9 am. Rather, he was supposed to be there at 9 am, but he'd slept through his usual meeting time - leading to him at the 12 pm meeting for the first time. There were far less older people, which he kind of liked. When he was with the older people, most of them had been clean for far longer than he had. Six months felt like nothing to them. To him, it was his longest stretch of sobriety. It was a big deal if you asked him. Nobody did, mind you, and he didn't volunteer a whole lot of information to anyone outside of his sponsor, the person who'd texted him about the noon meeting when he'd failed to show up for the 9 am one.

He sat in the uncomfortable, metal fold out chairs and listened to people drone on about their own addictions. He didn't listen, not because it was triggering - though that would have been a good excuse. He didn't listen because he didn't see the point in it. Hearing other people's stories didn't affect him. Usually didn't affect him anyway, until he heard a voice to familiar to mistake for anyone else's ring out. His eyes immediately darted up and he watched the person speak. Oliver. The other looked good, said he had three months and that was when Gio zoned out. He couldn't help it; he would always blame himself for Oliver's relapse. If he'd gotten clean a week earlier, things would be different. He knew that, knew it all too well.

The rest of the session was spent with him not paying attention to anything being said. When they were dismissed, he poured himself a cup of coffee. The table that held the coffee and some cookies was close to the exit. To get out, Oliver would have to move past him. Logically, he should be getting ready for his lessons for the day. Logic didn't matter right now. When the other tried to walk past - whether he'd seen him standing there or not was a question he wasn't sure that he wanted the answer to - Gio reached out to grab his arm gently. "Ollie," was the only thing he managed.

Maia may or may not have snuck a bottle from her work. Normally she wouldn't, having actual respect for her boss and coworkers, but she also knew that she was being a complete asshole to Bowie. It wasn't fair to her that Maia only contacted her when she was in a bad mood, so she wanted to bring over a bottle of tequila as an apology. That and Maia was having a bad day.

Maia knocked on their door before she could talk herself out of it. When Bowie opened, Maia immediately waved the bottle. "Hey I wanted to bring this over to say I'm sorry for not being around. Are you busy?"

“Hey!” He called out to Bowie, the person who had become somewhat of a younger sibling to him. He’d grown up as an only child, and if he had any genuine siblings out there, he wasn’t in the slightest bit aware of them. He saw a lot of his younger self in them, and felt compelled to try and help her break the habit of people pleasing. It could be toxic, he knew that. Ace had given up so much of his childhood for his mother, to try and make her happy. But she never was, not really. And in the end all she’d done was use her son for money until he reached the point of exhaustion. “What’s new? Who’s ass am I gonna wanna kick this week?” He joked with a lopsided grin, finally catching up to her.

A night at the brewery with an old friend seemed exactly like what the doctor ordered. And by doctor, they meant themself. Both Kai and Benjamin were kept pretty busy with their jobs, but if one thing was important to them, it was making time for the people that were important. Ordering a beer flight and a couple of baskets of fries, they wait for him to arrive, waving them over once they see the brunette walk through the door. “Hey! I ordered for us already, help yourself. It’s been too long, how have you been?”

one thing that charlie wasn’t used to walking into when he got home from work was quiet. there was always some sort of music, or activity, or show on when he came through the door. but today seem to be an exception. the first thought, of course, was that elijah wasn’t home, but they’d only texted half an hour ago, and elijah would have told him. “babe?” he called, following the light down to the end of the hallway, and entering their spare room. “what are you doing?” @impervicus​​

Having been in town her whole life, Caress ought to have known better than to go to the Night and Dine during the lunch rush. She had been out shopping, an armful of new romances to show for it, and time had gotten away from her. She'd been in such a rush to get her new books that she had skipped breakfast. So while her yogurt and granola sat in her fridge, her stomach seemed to rebel with a loud growl. The diner was always a nice place to stop, comforting and familiar food.

All of the tables and booths were full when she got there. Normally, it would have deterred Caress. It meant a wait, unless you had someone saving a table for you. Considering she didn't have that, there was no telling how long she would have to stand around. Usually, she would wait, but the lack of breakfast made her crazy. She eyed a table, one person sitting at it and seeming engrossed in what they were doing. That would be perfect.

"Hi, I'm just going to sit here. I'll read my book, order my food. You won't even know I'm here," she explained as she pulled out the chair. No sooner had she sat down than she recognized the other. Brinley. She hadn't seen them since they'd fallen out, what felt like ages ago. Heart racing in her chest, she shook her head. "Or... not."

On her days off from the Ambrosia Lounge, Maia was either exploring the town or following her dad. She hated following him, hated that curiosity that kept tugging at her, but no matter how much it killed her she couldn't stop. Not when she kept seeing him doing double takes. Her mind wandered and Maia was actually starting to believe that maybe he was recognizing her and looking for her too. Despite everything inside her telling her not to, she was getting her hopes up.

So finally after she saw him go into the Green Thumb Cafe she decided to take a chance and follow him in there. After getting her iced coffee, she wasn't trying to kill the man after all, she purposefully knocked into him spilling her coffee all over him. "Oh I'm so sorry! I really didn't see you there!" Maia immediately went to get as many napkins as she could hold. "Are you okay?"
