He can be very particular about physical touch, in the sense that he's very hesitant to touch people he doesn't know well, not just because of his own introverted nature, but also for their sake. He doesn't want to make them uncomfortable. If something urgent arises, such as a medical or physical emergency, he can override this rule of his (exhibit A: holding onto Janine's hand as they both sprint out of the Firehouse pre-explosion in GB1), but if not, he'll seek permission from the other person first, either verbally or with a subtle gesture (e.g offering his hand or hovering it over a particular part of the body, as if to silently ask "can I?"). This does cease to be the case once he gets to know someone and understands their tolerances, but until then, consent will always be crucial to him.
