What's one thing you want people to know about Finland and its people?

hahaha oh boy! that we exist! i think most people here would be happy with just that.

in japan the question i get a lot after saying i’m from finland is do we speak english or do we have our own language. so i’d like for the world to know that the finnish language exists, has nothing to do with english or swedish or russian or any of those languages, and is the loveliest language in the world (according to one person, who is me)!

one thing i want the world to know about finnish people is that the thing i love about my fellow countrymen is how down to earth and no-nonsense they are. in finland you dress for the weather, not the occasion. if someone invites you into their home, it’s not a courtesy, it’s because they mean it. you don’t introduce people by listing all their amazing accomplishments, because they’re ordinary just like everyone else. you don’t need to talk; you can be quiet. you don’t have to make a big deal of your exit: you can get up, say well then and go.
