They had to make sure that none of their colleagues noticed how late they were bringing the EMS unit back to the station. Kaitlyn had been prepared to argue with Fred the entire way there over their story, to beg and plead with him to not give away the fact they just smuggled a female WR400 to her apartment, but much to her surprise (and worry) her android partner was silent the entire way back. In the window reflection, she would occasionally notice his LED was a solid yellow. Whatever he was thinking about, it was enough for him to silently stare out the windshield.

Backing up and parking the vehicle, the young woman felt her hands start to get clammy from nerves. She trusted Fred with her life, but despite her best attempts, the android seemed content to just... be the medical worker he was programmed to be. Bringing the clearly traumatized female to the apartment she and Lily shared was extremely risky but she also couldn’t just... leave the android to wander the streets of Detroit. 

Brushing her hands against her uniform pants to rid them of any dampness, she was just starting to reach for the door handle when suddenly her spare hand was gently being grasped.

“I know I shouldn’t have done what I did, but - “ she began, not at all ashamed of the pleading note in her voice.

“I’m not going to report you, Anderson. I should, I know but... hearing that android’s story...” Uncharacteristically, Fred paused, his LED cycling between yellow and blue as he figured out what he wanted to say next. “... I believe you did the right thing.”

The night’s events and late hour must be getting to her because that was the first time she had ever heard Fred say anything like that. Anything that sounded similar to deviancy. Normally, she would be celebrating - but she knew her dad and that prototype android were investigating deviancy cases and the general public already didn’t have a favorable view of androids as it was - and that made her start to worry all over again.

Her job might be safe but her partner - who she considered a friend - was now at risk.
