Madoka Mishina in Take Your Heart

“Why the hell does this man’s shadow look like a giant palm tree?”

Eldest daughter of a famed musician turned sushi restaurant practitioner, Madoka and her twin brother Yuuki were spirited away from their hometown of Sumaru City to live in Shibuya after Madoka recieved a music scholarship at the prestigious Kosei High School. Of course, things were... Off in Shibuya from the moment they stepped foot there. Most notably, the bruises that Yuuki would recieve upon returning home from volleyball practice.

He never told their parents about it, afraid of the consequences of speaking up, so Madoka just brushed it off. And then the coach reveals the awful truth -- not only has he been abusing the students he trained, he also had been a sexual predator, even forcing a student to suicide by his actions. It comes all of a sudden, and appears to be because of a ‘change of heart’, caused by a mysterious group of Phantom Thieves.

Madoka has someone who’s heart she wants to change. But unfortunately, she can’t get any evidence on her concerns. That is, until she sees two of her childhood friends outside the man’s shack, and begs them to take her to the mysterious ‘other world’ where they commit their crimes. She’s finally gotten the chance to save someone. Will she take the plunge?

Silver follows her as she heads to the archery targets, swerving around Nicolo as he narrowly escapes Percival’s Lance. “Well, yeah, but I’m the leader, so they’re my recruits, right? Besides, we’re Daphnels, we have way more experience!”

Clover refrains from pointing out how only he was given special one-on-one training while she had to teach herself. Instead, she focuses on the first target, notching her arrow.

Now she moves from place to place with her dad and his outlaw gang, hoping that one day his promise to her comes true: that they’ll be free and settle down somewhere.

An excerpt from the book, 'Heroes of Baldur's Gate', specifically from the chapter dedicated to the halfling bard known as Rosla Greenbriar, previously of Charmed Goldlings fame and currently wife of fellow Baldur's Gate hero and Selunite cleric Shadowheart.

OCs DESERVE BETTER -> Zelva Arkant'tar (Baldur's Gate 3)

"I don't remember anything but my name. But I do know there's this... darkness, in me. And I don't know how long I can keep it at bay."

Losing her entire family in a hate attack against drows, Seldarine Drow Nisha Arkant'tar became driven by vengence, earning herself the nickname 'Drow of Death'. She also turned to worshipping Bhaal, the God of Murder, and her efficiency earned her the attention of Bhaal himself. Looking for various women to have children to bring about his own ressurrection, Bhaal chose Nisha to be one of those woman. Months later, she gave birth to a baby she named Zelva. Knowing how vicious the infighting among drows were, and not wanting a repeat of the massacre that led her down her current path, Nisha travelled to Baldur's Gate and left her baby girl in the care of the Temple of Bhaal.

Being born the child of Bhaal himself, Zelva is afforded more leniecy than Bhaalspawn's, though she still grows up in the cut-throat world of the Temple, where anything and everything can be used against you as a potential weakness. Still, Zelva finds herself - against what is expected of her - developing a soft spot for various stray animals, and even taking one in. Only to find that same animal later dead in her room, and Zelva knows exactly who is responsible: the changling Orin, who despises Zelva for being a fellow child of Bhaal.

From that day forth, Zelva never kept anything - living or inanimate - for herself, knowing Orin would just destroy it. So when Zelva is chosen to be Bhaal's Chosen to put into the plan to create the Absolute, she is not surprised to find Orin betray her by stabbing her, infecting her with a Mindflayer tadpole, and leaving her for dead. What she didn't expect, was to be saved by Kressa Bonedaughter and experimented and tortured on until her mind broke and suppressed her memories in an act of self-preservation. Only knowing her name upon waking aboard a nautiloid, Zelva joins forces with a fellow group of tadpole infected individuals on a quest to find a cure before they become Mindflayers. Maybe, if she's lucky enough, she can find out why she has no memory but is constantly compelled to shed blood and kill.

OCs DESERVE BETTER -> Morxan Elmith (Baldur's Gate 3)

"All dragonborn have a dragon ancestor. No one knows for sure who, though more dedicated researchers usually narrow it down to a handful. To interact with one, to know for sure where you come from... is unheard of."

Born into a small clan of primarily bronze dragonborn's, Morxan was always seen as an oddity among his clan - he was born with a tail, and clearly inherited the magic from their distant dragon ancestors. Still, clan is clan, and he was treated as any other member of the clan and in fact is often in charge of watching over any new hatchlings, entertaining them with his magic. While going to Baldur's Gate to visit Sorcerer's Sundries, Morxan suddenly finds himself abducted onto a nautiloid and infected with a Mindflayer tadpole. Joining a group of crash survivors, the unlikely group begin a seemingly futile search for a cure before they turn into Mindflayer's themselves. Only for them to learn there is something unique about their tadpoles, and it likely has to do with their mysterious savior of the crashing ship and guardian that keeps showing up in their dreams. With everything that has happened, Morxan shouldn't be all that surprised to find himself falling for a Githyanki warrior... or to discover how connected his mysterious dream guardian is to his ancestry.

OCs DESERVE BETTER -> Rosla Greenbriar (D&D/Baldur's Gate 3)

"We're better off sticking together. Strength in numbers; the more the merrier; all that. Surely one of us can figure out how to remove these damn tadpoles."

Originally born to a nomadic group of halflings, Rosla has only ever known life in Baldur's Gate after the massacre of the entire clan by bandits when she was still a child, leaving her the only survivor - except for another member that was away foraging. The survivor took her in and the two created a life in nearby Baldur's Gate. Blaming the nomadic lifestyle for being the reason the group was so easily wiped out, the older halfling tried to keep Rosla in Baldur's Gate, steering her towards 'safer' and more 'appropriate' activities. But during her teenage years, Rosla began to feel the adventurous urge and would sneak to either Mermaid Blush or Elfsong Tavern; whichever she could get into. While there, she struck up a friendship with a human bard, who would teach her to play various instruments and told her about his adventures. When she told her guardian that she was going to become the man's apprentice and a bard, the two got into their worse fight yet, causing Rosla to pack her belongings and convince the human to take her on years earlier than he had anticipated. The two traveled up and down the Sword Coast, becoming fairly well-known, and he became a father figure to Rosla. When he eventually died, he left everything to Rosla, and she swore to keep his memory alive by having the most amazing adventures she could. And she did... until she suddenly found herself waking up on a mindflayer ship, infected with one of their tadpoles. Mysteriously, though, neither her nor any other survivors of the ship crash seem to be turning into mind flayers. The odd group come together to try and rid themselves of their unwelcome guests but end up being the only ones capable of saving the entirety of Faerun... or destroying it.
