Geared Machines --> TW 45 C

TW 45 C is ideal for standard Geared Lifts. TW 45 C capacity is up to 1000 kg. Depending on your space requirements, you can obtain the TW 45 C with a vertical or horizontal motor position. The TW 45 C is available as a left-hand version with the option of a right-hand version when the motor is in an upright position.

The Geared Machines are designed with VVVF Motors in B5 Configuration with a flexible coupling, ensuring smooth, quiet running.

The TW 45 C is available with Speeds of 0.4 – 1.25 m/s and 1:1/2:1 suspension.

Oil Buffers consist of a hollow cylinder, a piston filled with oil and a ram moving up and down in the bottle.

A spring keeps the ram steady in the fully extended position while the lift is in normal operation.

2020 Corvette C8

Thursday, July 18, marked a day that many auto enthusiasts and car industry watchers thought would never happen: After decades of rumors and innuendo, Chevrolet finally introduced a production, mid-engined Corvette. It's fair to say the 2020 Chevy Corvette Stingray's Tustin, California, reveal was a blockbuster event by the numbers. You may have already committed the key metrics to memory: 495 horsepower, 0 to 60 miles per hour in under 3 seconds, pricing starting at under $60,000.

The C8 Corvette wasn't the only thing to generate impressive stats that night: The reveal event itself triggered massive online traffic for the automotive websites and forums covering the C8 Corvette's reveal, and General Motors was temporarily overwhelmed by the unbridled interest the reveal generated. There were times when the livestream of the reveal bogged down, and when the automaker revealed that its 2020 Chevy Corvette "Visualizer" configurator tool was already live on Chevrolet.com, a tidal wave of traffic ensued, effectively gridlocking the experience for most users for the better part of a day.

When the digital dust settled, the 2020 Chevy Corvette had set a number of impressive online records for GM. In the main, 471,000 people tuned in to watch the livestream unveil of the Corvette -- an impressive figure given that the event was held midevening on the West Coast (a good portion of the event happened after much of the country had already gone to bed).

But Corvette fever didn't stop there. Friday, July 19, the first full day after the C8's debut, saw the C8 shatter Chevrolet.com traffic records, too. According to Steve Majoros, director of passenger car and crossover marketing for Chevrolet, the brand's consumer site saw five times the normal traffic load it hosts on a daily basis. Corvette-related traffic set an all-time record for Chevy's website, even with the slowdown.

"With a pretty rabid and passionate base, we knew we'd take 24 hours of grief," Majoros tells Roadshow. "The majority of people got the full [configurator] experience, which is the full 3D experience. We do have a way that the system throttles to what we're calling a 2D experience [to speed load time]. Once we hit thresholds, we worked with Amazon Web Services very quickly to double our server capacity." (GM may have outsourced its server support for things like 3D rendering, but it built the C8's configurator tool internally, a move that helped keep a lid on information leaking out about the top-secret car.)

Through the end of July, traffic to the C8's Chevrolet.com landing page alone amounted to 2.4 million visits, with 750,000 of those users coming within the first 72 hours after the reveal. By the end of July, some 1.3 million users had already tried out out the Corvette's Visualizer, poking through the various colors, options and features to configure their dream Corvettes. In total, visitors to the website built over 940,000 Corvettes and logged in excess of 152,000 hours spent on the Visualizer tool before the month of August even began.

Those are huge numbers, especially when you consider that the outgoing C7 Corvette sold just 18,791 units last year.

It's difficult to put the Corvette's reveal and website figures in proper context, as most automakers don't hold online reveal ceremonies for new cars and trucks this way (let alone disclose data about the online footprint of these events thereafter). The clearest recent example is arguably Tesla's unveiling of the Model 3 EV in March 2016.

Tesla didn't release data about subsequent website visits, but we do know that event led to a claimed 115,000 buyer reservations within 24 hours -- including $1,000 deposits. This is admittedly an apples and oranges comparison. The Model 3 four-door sedan is designed to be a more affordable mainstream automobile (that happens to be electric), versus the two-seat Corvette's much more specialized nature. Clearly, however, these are big numbers that show significant interest in both milestone automobiles.

A lot of users have configured C8 Corvettes in the Visualizer in many different ways. "Corvette, as a vehicle, has always been about personalization and bespoke and customization -- making it yours," Majoros tells Roadshow. "We wouldn't be having this call if this was [a] Malibu or Equinox, right? [With those vehicles] we've got like 40 build combinations ... we have probably infinite build combinations [with Corvette], because that's what customers want. They want a car that's uniquely theirs ... it's not a surprise that people are building and saving multiple versions."

Are there any common threads emerging in users' Visualizer selections that could point to what types of cars will end up in dealers? Not necessarily. Right now, the two most popular configurator paint color selections are Rapid Blue (new) and Elkhart Lake Blue Metallic -- two of the C8's bolder color choices. Similarly, two of the most popular interior colors have been Two-Tone Blue and Natural Dipped (tan).

Majoros doesn't necessarily think the aforementioned choices will correlate to those particular paint and upholstery finishes being the most popular when it comes down to actually ordering vehicles. "The Visualizer results to date are inconsistent with what a long-term sales trend would be," he says. Rather, Chevy officials suspect customers are focusing on newly available colors and bolder material choices and letting their imaginations run wild.

GM hasn't just rolled out the digital red carpet for the Corvette-curious online, it's also formed a special call center task force dedicated to answering customer questions. According to Majoros, Chevy pulled a number of employees from its regular customer call center, "sequestered them for six weeks" in advance of the reveal and gave them in-depth Corvette Academy training on product and process. "We skimmed off the creme de la creme and really 'Corvetted' them up," he says.

These special phone reps have been trained in "engineering, dealers, history, allocation, ordering, speccing, specifications, anything that we think could come our way," Majoros says. Housed in GM's Renaissance Center headquarters, there are five such "concierge" staffers working the phones and keyboards at any given time, and these representatives are available to answer phone calls, emails and live chat requests 12 hours a day. Average phone calls last about 15 minutes, but some extend an hour beyond that, says Majoros. Anyone can call upon these experts; you don't need to be a Corvette owner or someone who has placed a deposit for the new car.

Majoros says these call-center reps have entertained everything from general questions about how to use the website to very specific engineering questions like what the maximum possible negative camber angle is on the rear wheels when setting up the car for racing. Patrons can have repeat access to the same call center expert via phone or email as new questions arrive, too, and they can even help spec out a Corvette and transfer that information to the dealer along with discussion notes when the time comes. "i want these people to be your Nordstrom concierge. I want them to know you, basically be your personal shopper," he says.

The last time Chevrolet queued up a special concierge experience like this for one of its products? The first-generation Chevy Volt plug-in hybrid, circa 2010 or 2011.

It will likely be many months before we can tell if early interest in the livestream reveal and website configurator will translate into robust sales for the 2020 Chevy Corvette. Right now, customers can make deposits, and while dealers can place orders, in the absence of full pricing information (coming in mid-August), many are electing to wait to enter orders into their systems.

In other words, we probably won't know for a while if the C8 has more record-breaking performances in store.

This years Gish was just as much fun as previous years! I think I had the most fun this year being able to gish with my best friends (Alex and @cassondrawinchester) as well as a lot of the girls I did it last year with! We had an excellent team, and I made a few new friends, and we got up to some crazy stuff.

I think the highlight this year was getting to scare the crap out of my dad and despite some questionable 'cult like' behavior, we weren't arrested. So, win on that one! And meeting @pherryt at the Gish get together!!!

A New Startup Aims to be a ‘Designated Driver' for Autonomous Vehicles in Need of Assistance

【Summary】A new startup has emerged from stealth today called Designated Driver. The company offers roadside assistance to self-driving vehicles by using a remote teleoperator that is able to control a vehicle from miles away. In 1997, General Motors introduced OnStar, a cellular communications system allowing a driver to connect to a human operator at the touch of a button for immediate roadside assistance. Using OnStar, drivers of GM vehicles can summon for help in the event of a flat tire or mechanical issue. OnStar can also summon emergency responders, by sharing a vehicle's location automatically in the event of an accident. While this system works well for a human-controlled car, in the future when autonomous vehicles are on the road without human drivers, what would happen if the vehicle ran into a problem, such as a unexpected road closure or disabled vehicle blocking a lane? A new startup has emerged called Designated Driver with a solution for situations like this. The company offers roadside assistance for self-driving vehicles, using a remote teleoperator that is able to "drive" the vehicle from miles away. To operate the car remotely, Designated Driver built a complete "remote driver" workstation. Together with additional hardware and software installed on the vehicle, it allows a human operator to remotely take control of a driverless vehicle when needed. Designated Driver's setup for the remote operation resembles a driving video game, complete with multiple HD monitors showing a live camera feed from the vehicle, a steering wheel, brake pedal and gear selector and even a turn signal switch, which actuates the same vehicle controls as a driver behind the wheel. This system interfaces with a vehicle over cellular networks. The technology also includes a link to the vehicle for communicate with passengers. "The role of a teleoperator is an extension of existing autonomous driving technology." said Manuela Papadopol, CEO of Designated Driver. The company's team is comprised of automotive experts with expertise in embedded automotive software, autonomous and robotic systems. Designated Driver's executives have decades of experience in complex automotive technology. Papadopol and CTO Walter Sullivan both worked at Microsoft's automotive division and at embedded automotive software company Elektrobit, working with global automakers BMW, Daimler, Ford, the VW Group and others. Papadopol was recognized with the Microsoft Gold Star Award for her work on embedded automotive systems. Designated Driver is addressing an important need as self-driving vehicles are nearing a commercial launch for the first time—how to navigate through an unexpected situation such as a road closure, mechanical issue, flat tire, or situations that a self-driving vehicle's software cannot handle. "The market need for Designated Driver is truly significant as it will help facilitate adoption of autonomous vehicles," said Bobby Hambrick, founder and CTO, AutonomouStuff, a company well-known in Silicon Valley for outfitting production vehicles with self-driving technology. "Remote control provides riders with the assurance that they will arrive at their destination even if there is a technical issue with their autonomous vehicle, and we see it as required functionality for all self-driving vehicles." How it Works FutureCar spoke with Designated Driver CTO Walter Sullivan and he explained a bit more about how the technology works. "Part of our solution is a in-vehicle software kit." he said. The remote operator system is linked to the vehicle's driver controls via a dedicated cellular network, similar to how a modern vehicle's infortainment system connects to the internet to run Apple CarPlay or Android Auto apps in a vehicle. Designated Driver's in-vehicle kit includes four individual cameras, which provides complete 360 degree coverage around a vehicle. The system transfers a live feed from cameras to a trained remote operator, giving the operator a live view of the vehicle surroundings just like if they were sitting in the driver's seat. The setup can work with any vehicle that comes with a by-wire controller module for steering, acceleration, braking and shifting. The Lincoln MKZ is one model that utilizes these type of controllers. Therefore, it has become a popular vehicle for developers and companies working on autonomous driving. "The car itself does not have to have any autonomous systems on it." Sullivan explained. Instead, hardware is added to a compatible vehicle to allow for remote operation. Since it works over cellular networks, Designated Driver developed a separate cellular module to ensure that communication with a vehicle is never lost for added safety. Sullivan said the module contains four individual SIMM devices, so if the connected is dropped, one of the other connections, or networks can be automatically activated. This ensures a stable connection to the vehicle at all times. This module can be expanded to use up to eight SIMM devices. "Each one could in theory be on its own carrier." Sullivan explained. "We can select the carrier providing the best connectivity for each geographical location a self driving vehicle might operate in. This adds some robustness and redundancy for safety." Sullivan said the heart of the system is a in-vehicle computing module developed in-house by Designated Driver, which he said contains most of the company's unique IP. The computing module allows a person to virtually "drive" a vehicle from hundreds of miles away as if they were physically present. The module is essentially an industrial grade computer. This module processes the video feeds from the cameras and takes commands from the remote operator and translates it into data the vehicle can understand. This allows for the manipulation of a vehicle's steering, braking and acceleration and shifting remotely via a cellular network. In the future when people might be shuttled around in fleets of autonomous vehicles, a remote operator may provide some peace of mind for passengers. Just knowing that a human can be summoned to safely guide the vehicle in case of an unexpected situation might reassure people who don't fully trust "robo-cars" at the moment. "Humans trust other humans." said Papadopol. Teleoperations for Car-Sharing Services Designated Driver's system can also be used in mobility services offered by car-sharing companies such as Turo and others. The company's teleoperator solution might be used by to bring vehicles to the location of the next customer using a remote operator. "A driver may rent a car for an hour and park it in another part of the city. The challenges are that the place in the city that those cars are parked are not necessarily the best places to pick up the next customer." Sullivan said. He said that teleoperators can help maximize the use of each vehicle that's part of a ride-sharing network. "A remote operator can repositionion those vehicle for better utilization." Automakers are already working on their own car-sharing services as a way to generate additional revenue, as personal car ownership is expected to decline. These services might benefit from using teleoperators to help manage and monitor their fleets. For example, Mercedes Benz and BMW recently established a partnership to share vehicles as part of a new mobility service called "Your Now." The new joint venture is geared towards future urban mobility, where customers will to able to get around using a seamlessly connected mobility ecosystem that combines car-sharing, ride-hailing, parking and EV charging all from a single smartphone app. Sullivan said that Designated Driver is in discussions with a ride-sharing company to integrate its technology, although he declined to name any companies at this early stage. Teleoperations has many potential applications outside of the automotive industry. The technology can be used in dangerous mining operations, agriculture, and fire and police departments, in situations or locations where it's too dangerous for a human to drive. There are also applications in the trucking industry. When connected to a driver monitoring system, the technology can also be used to remotely take control of a vehicle if a driver monitoring system detects driver fatigue. This has possible applications for long-haul trucks, to monitor that a driver is alert with their eyes on the road to increase safety. The National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA) estimates that up to 100,000 motor vehicle accidents annually can be traced to drivers who actually doze off behind the wheel of their vehicles. According to the NHTSA, in 2015 over 72,000 police-reported crashes involved drowsy drivers. These crashes led to 41,000 injuries and more than 800 deaths. Partnership with Autonomous Stuff To integrate its technology in self-driving vehicles, Designated Driver announced that its first customer is AutonomouStuff. "AutonomouStuff has outfitted more vehicles for self-driving driving than any other company", Sullivan said. The company has become the go-to company for many companies that need to quickly set up a vehicle to drive autonomously. "We have designed Designated Driver to be best in class, and are especially proud to be working with AutonomouStuff, which provides automakers and suppliers the most cutting-edge solutions for robotics and autonomy." said Papadopol. When the company was founded, AutonomouStuff's primary goal was to significantly reduce the development time of self-driving vehicles, by offering a complete add-on kit to support self-driving.
