Knowing the masked stranger who’d rescued him was Zuko... should have made it easy to leave the firebender at the mercy of the Yuyan archers. Especially when Aang still needed to find more frozen frogs. There was surely no time to be dragging Zuko’s body to safety, and safe-keeping that pretty blue mask of his. Which he props delicately atop a thick tree root. He admires the mask while he contemplates leaving, but ultimately sits, waiting by Zuko’s slumped form.

       She hid it WELL. The wound she received after their recent battle. Even if she could feel injured flesh BURN with each step. How it ached to bear any weight upon the injured appendage. Yet she stifled back small hisses in favor of not looking WEAK in front of the others. To not appear FRAGILE.

       It was only when she found herself ALONE did she peel back the material of her pants up to her knee. Slowly unwrapping the dirty and bloody bandages that she had hastily fastened around her leg hours prior to returning to their small retreat. It was sloppily done, using any nearby and most likely dirty strips of fabric to stop the bleeding. It was MESSY work and INEXPERIENCED. Plus she couldn’t really see WHERE the wound was as much as feel it. 

       The nearby creek would make due for now in cleaning the area. Slowly cupping the water in her hand to wash the surrounding skin only to release a snarl each time her fingers brushed along the split skin. Sure she knew she could have asked KATARA to mend the wound for her but her PRIDE got in the way of asking for her help. Especially at the risk of another lecture about how RECKLESS she was. 

         Besides, nobody needed to know. Nobody HAD to know. Or so she thought.

         HIS voice made her body jump. Hands yanking away from the babbling creek in startlement. TOPH who had both feet in the water hadn’t been able to sense him coming. A SLOPPY mistake made out of desperation to clean wound the best she could and re-wrap it before the other’s went looking for her. It seems she was too late on that one. 

                                                             ❝ ZUKO! ❞

         She gasped as her head tossed in the direction of his voice. Pale eyes wide yet not directly on his frame. 

       ❝ How did you find me? I thought you would be with everyone else setting up camp. ❞
