1. jax was deep into homestuck before ending up in the circus. a while before. like, when he was a teenager. his favorite characters were gamzee, vriska, and kurloz. 2. he did indeed watch anime as well. he preferred the horror ones, but he DID endure a select few slice of life animes in his time. ohshc was indeed one of them. 3. he also enjoyed pop team epic. he will tell you that he thought it was annoying, but he loved it. 4. he would play grand theft auto as a teen as well. i'm sure y'all know the drill here lmao. 5. he's SO GOOD at mortal kombat for no reason.

❝ tch — jeez , pomni , could you be a little more blunt ? ❞ as if she hadn't blatantly asked outright .

jax is procrastinating . he has been for a while . but he'll only admit to right now . today . this very second . and only if he's pressed about it .

ugh , why's everyone care so much about everyone else's feelings ? why can't she just let him sit and fester in it and shove it in a little box in the back of his mind ? she'd be better off if he did , he practically already told her that after the battle royale .

she doesn't even have to say anything else , though , for him to cave . ❝ ugh , fine . but just so you know , i think this is stupid , and you're crazy if you think anything's gonna come out of this . ❞

still wearing a rather cocky expression , he leans down to meet her at eye level . there's a split second of hesitation ; part of him desperately wants to back out , but another part of him would rather watch this whole world fall apart than let pomni get one over him . the confidence in his face almost falters , something he quickly hides by just . . . forcing himself forward and giving her that stupid kiss she'd asked for .

and springs back up to his full height just as fast as he'd kissed her . ❝ there . see ? ❞ he's actively avoiding looking back down at her , and he's got his arms folded over his chest . ❝ nothing . ❞

no way , they did it ? they won ? against what felt like all odds , these two actually won ! ( what game ? well , it doesn't matter anymore , does it ! they already won , there's no game left to play anymore ! )

jax tugs ribbit into his side , one arm over the frog's shoulders , the other fist pumping into the air in celebration . he'd nearly thought they were goners , up against ragatha and zooble . and now they've been adorned with fancy first place medals , what a dream !

in the heat of the moment , he turns to look at his friend and practically mushes his face into the side of his head . just a cartoonishly excited smooch , square onto ribbit's cheek . he won't even realize he did that , not until it's pointed out to him .

❝ see ! i told ya we'd beat 'em if we used that looney toons trick ! ❞ he gently nudges at ribbit's chest with his free hand , offering a little wink and a laugh . ❝ and when you sent ragatha flying ? ohhh , that was great ! ❞

so , just the two of them left to wander the circus this time around , huh ? considering , of course , that jax had been asleep when the adventure started , and pomni . . . somehow wriggled her way out of it , he figures , by the lack of others' voices coming from the main tent . maybe he oughta ask .

when he leans on a wall near her , though , he pauses . she's been minding her own business , at least so far — she didn't knock , or try to poke her head in , or skip around the hall just outside and sing some stupid song to freak him out . he almost doesn't even want to bother her . she just seems . . . lost in thought , maybe ?

there's a moment where he just stares . he could be annoying . he could pester her , about sitting this one out , or where everyone else is , or if there's even an adventure today . but he doesn't . he just stares .

and agonizes . quietly , to himself , complete with a frustrated look , pink flushing his face , hands clawing down his cheeks .

fine , whatever ! no one's around to see anyways .

jax makes his way over to her , still as quietly as he can muster , bends at his waist , and before she can say anything ( or he stops himself ) , plants a light little kiss to the top of her head .

then , as if that never even happened , he settles an elbow right at the same spot , wiping the embarrassed look off his face with his other hand and wearing his typical sarcastic expression instead . ❝ hangin' around all by yourself , ey , pom – pom ? how'd ya get outta the adventure for today ? ❞

does she have to keep poking ? no one else tries to pick me apart like she does . i don't get it . why can't she just take me at face value and call it a day ?

@pompomjester25 "Hey you got something on your-" Pomni wasn't very keen on things, though personal space was normally one of them. But it was something about him here under the stars that made her reach up, gently thumbing the light dirt off his cheek that landed on his face when he plopped down besides her. She hoped he didn't mind. Pomni let her hand linger briefly before scooting back and looking away, pretending that didn't happen. "Heh. For once, the suggestion box didn't give us a horrible adventure...I like this one."

this is boring . all they're doing is lounging around , looking up at a night sky , eating sandwiches . but at least it wasn't spudsy's , or that dumb haunted mansion that could have been way scarier , or whatever adventure he'd been put through earlier ( he wasn't exactly paying much attention during that one , he just hated being wet ) .

he wasn't exactly expecting pomni to be sitting off on her own , though . gangle or zooble , sure , but pomni , who seems so dead set on befriending everyone , she's sitting by herself . and he'd already gotten looks from some of the others ( he doesn't want to sit with them anyway ) , so he merely plops himself in an empty spot a couple feet away and makes himself comfortable .

he's about to make some sarcastic comment , when suddenly he feels her hand brush his cheek . eyes open wide , at first shocked and aimed straight up at the stars , until he feels her move away . only once he's sure he won't meet her gaze does he turn his own to her , something like concern or confusion practically plastered on his face .

until she just . . . doesn't address it further . nothing more than telling him he's got something on his face , and then brushing it off , just to let him linger with that .

what , does she want him to address it first ? fat chance ! two can play the ignorance game , and jax ? he's a pro at it .

❝ all we're doing is sitting around , y'know we can just do this whenever , right ? ❞ he tucks his hands under his head , relaxing back into the grass again . ❝ i'm bored , i wanna go back to the first adventure . what's even the appeal in this one ? ❞

there's a long pause before he actually answers . but his expression doesn't change . maybe if he can play it off like all that was real , she'll believe it .

whatever . she seems determined to get what she came for . he'll be nice , just this once .

❝ alright , fine . if this is what you really want , sure . ❞ his shoulders tense up in a shrug , hands up as if trying to prove innocence in a situation . ❝ but one , don't expect some shoujo anime revelation scene , 'cause that ain't happening . and two . . . ❞

he stares at her for a second , expression maybe a little intense , but it's clear he's being genuine . ❝ . . . don't go 'round tellin' people . or i will be worse . got it ? ❞

without waiting for an answer , jax merely plucks gangle's comedy mask from her , brings it up to his face , and gives its forehead a neat little peck before lazily offering it back to her . ❝ there . don't break it too fast . ❞

initially , jax had been excited about this adventure . this one's all about survival , caine said . it's got a little something for everyone , caine said . bull s#!& ! what's he supposed to do when he can't even go hunting for food ?!

❝ even if i did die , caine will just pop me back into existence . and what's the point in that if he won't even give us a flare gun ! ❞ the last bit is screamed upwards , like he's actively trying to get caine's attention . usually works that way in the circus — he doubts it'll work in – adventure , it rarely ever had before , but either way , he hopes he'd gotten his point across . ❝ yeesh , at this rate , i'll probably die of boredom before this adventure makes me die of starvation . ❞

lazily stretching , he starts off in a seemingly random direction . ❝ alright , sadsack , c'mon . i'm gonna steal the bowie knife , and then i'll show ya how a real hunter forages for food . ❞
