Ahead of a one-off Test vs. Australia in Mumbai Harmanpreet Kaur focused on ‘recovery''
The captain of the Indian women cricket team, Harmanpreet Kaur, is focused on recovery ahead of their one-off Test match against Australia at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on December 21.
Tumblr media
Speaking ahead of their match, Harmanpreet said recovery is the most important thing when playing back-to-back Test matches. India recently defeated England by 347 runs in Mumbai in a one-off Test match, the highest-ever victory margin in women’s Test cricket. Harmanpreet said, “When you are playing back-to-back Test games, the most important thing for you is recovery.
If I talk about Deepti Sharma and Pooja Vastrakar, these players did not get any. We tried to take care of their loads and train them as per what was necessary for their game. And for those who did not have a heavy workload, we tried to push them into the nets. To make them feel more confident.”
She further added that “our approach for this game would be the same as our last match: to go for the win. To continue that approach, if you are batting, it does not mean that you are just staying there. At the same time, you have to get those crucial runs for the team as well. Once you start attacking the bowler in a test, and if your defense is solid, you can play a good mind game with them.”

India vs England, one-off Test: Meet Deepti Sharma, the ‘Ben Stokes of women’s team’ | Cricket News
NAVI MUMBAI: It’s a compliment that must have left Deepti Sharma on cloud nine. Deepti became only the second Indian after Shubhangi Kulkarni to pick up five wickets and score…

Cricket: The Gentleman's Game
Cricket, often hailed as the gentleman's game, is a sport that captures the hearts of millions around the world. With its roots tracing back to the 16th century in England, cricket has evolved into a global phenomenon, captivating audiences with its blend of skill, strategy, and sportsmanship.
At its core, cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams, each consisting of eleven players. The game unfolds on an oval-shaped field with a rectangular 22-yard pitch at its center. One team bats while the other bowls and fields, aiming to dismiss the batsmen and restrict the opposing team's score.
What sets cricket apart is its rich tapestry of formats: from the timeless Test matches that span five days, challenging players' endurance and patience, to the thrilling One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and the high-paced Twenty20 (T20) matches that offer quick excitement. Each format demands a unique set of skills, adding to the game's complexity.
Cricket is not merely a sport; it's a celebration of camaraderie and competition. The fans, often referred to as the 12th man, infuse the game with an unparalleled energy, transforming stadiums into electric cauldrons of enthusiasm. The iconic rivalries between nations, such as India vs. Pakistan or Australia vs. England, elevate the game to a level of intensity that few sports can match.
The players themselves are akin to modern-day gladiators, honing their craft through years of practice and dedication. Cricketers like Sir Don Bradman, Sachin Tendulkar, and Sir Vivian Richards have become legends, inspiring generations with their exceptional skills and sportsmanship.
Cricket has also become a vehicle for social change. Players like Sir Garfield Sobers and Sir Vivian Richards broke racial barriers, showcasing talent beyond boundaries. Women's cricket, once overshadowed, is now gaining prominence, empowering female athletes worldwide.
Moreover, cricket unites people across cultures and continents. The game's popularity in countries like India, Australia, England, Pakistan, and South Africa has bridged cultural gaps, fostering friendships and understanding among diverse communities.
In conclusion, cricket is not just a sport; it's a heritage, a tradition, and a way of life for millions. It embodies the spirit of teamwork, discipline, and perseverance, teaching invaluable life lessons beyond the boundaries of the pitch. As long as there's a bat, a ball, and an eager player, the game of cricket will continue to weave its magic, captivating hearts and minds around the world.

Cricket, flag football, baseball and softball all set for 2028 LA Olympics

Cricket, flag football, baseball and softball all set for 2028 LA Olympics
The Guardian has received various reports that cricket has won its fight to be included in the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic schedule, joining flag football, baseball, and softball. Within the next 24 hours, the LA organizing committee is anticipated to announce its selection of sports for the Games, with rumors that lacrosse and perhaps squash could be included as new sports for 2028. The 141st IOC session in Mumbai, which starts on Sunday, will officially validate the decision, which was made after lengthy deliberations between LA and the IOC's Olympic programme commission.
Tumblr media
Cricket, flag football, baseball and softball all set for 2028 LA Olympics Cricket has only ever been played at the Olympics once, at Paris in 1900, when England and France competed for the gold medal in a single match. However, a T20 men's and women's competition will be held in Los Angeles, opening up a potentially fruitful commercial market in the Asian subcontinent. Given the IOC's ambition to utilize India's enormous population and financial resources, The Guardian reported in July that cricket was "very likely" to take place in LA. Although the IOC and LA have not always had smooth conversations, integrating cricket makes business and sporting sense for all parties. The present Olympic broadcast rights in India are auctioned for certain Games, and it is estimated that Paris 2024's rights will only fetch £15.6 million ($20 million). However, according to industry insiders who spoke to the Guardian, if cricket were to be played in Los Angeles, this amount might increase to £150m depending on the structure and the number of guaranteed matches for India. Flag football, a five-on-five non-contact variation of American football, is rumored to have also received the go-ahead. The NFL, which has pushed for flag football to be added as an Olympic event to increase interest in the game globally, will be happy with that. It is unclear, however, how the addition of numerous new team sports and the return of baseball and softball affect the hard limit of 10,500 competitors set by the International Olympic Committee for each Olympics. Other sports may need to reduce the amount of medal events they provide if the Games do not increase.
