@bloodrodeo liked for a song-based starter and got [I Know the End by Phoebe Bridgers]
Ellie was getting antsy inside the trailer. She was alone, her dad at work. Well, that was where he was last she knew anyways. And as unsafe as her home was, the outside world wasn't much better. With the fires, the violence, the screams. The park was too dense, too many people. She needed to get somewhere safer. Soon her home would be just as easily broken into as the ones around her.
She gathered anything she deemed useful –clothes, first-aid, weapons, amongst other things– and threw them in the backpack she used to use in high school.
Then after peaking out her window and making sure the area was relatively quiet, she stepped out the door. Armed with her dad’s hunting knife, she walked through the small spaces between trailers.
She had no goal in mind except to get somewhere less crowded and more secure until this all went away.
When she'd fought with her boyfriend and subsequently broken up with him, she thought that would be the thing that made this a bad week. Not the end of the world.
#int. trent kay jr.#bloodrodeo#kind of took the song in a literal sense buuut I hope this works#song mentions aliens so we could go with an alien invasion style apocalypse or a zombie one

@bloodrodeo sent: REVERSE [ EXHAUSTION ]: the sender, surrounded by nothing but uncomfortable places to rest in, finds a solution by sitting in the receiver's lap in order to rest and possibly sleep. ❤️
It's late at the city park, the pair had found some space to themselves, away from other festival goers who'd also come to see the red, white, and blue firework show. Their little spot included a tree— too small yet to obscure their view with its branches— but no seats nor picnic tables, just dirt and grass for them to sit on. Luckily, they'd brought a towel, striped green and white, which Ellie had laid out earlier for the two of them near the base of the tree.
Ellie had claimed the spot in front of the tree trunk, leaning her back against the bark. There were still five minutes before the show ended and they'd already agreed to wait until the crowd died down to leave, so they had some time to just sit and relax as all the people cleared out. Within those final five minutes Trent had found his way onto her lap. She smiled softly as he got settled, one hand resting upon his shoulder, the other wrapped around his side. "Comfy?" she asks just loud enough for him to hear.
#int. trent kay jr.#bloodrodeo#♫ 𝄈 the lingering question kept me up 2 am who do you love? ♯ answered#saw your fourth of july posts then suddenly had the urge to make this themed to that#they get a break from the end of the world panic

@bloodrodeo sent 👅
Ellie's plans to go to the grocery store this morning had been put on pause. She'd been brushing her teeth when she'd noticed the bluish-purple bruising on her neck. So now she's sitting atop the bathroom counter, her face as close to the mirror as possible as she tries to get a better look at the dark coloring on her neck.
She's in the middle of brushing some color-correcting concealer on her neck when she hears movement in the hallway, seconds later she spots the culprit in the doorway. "You couldn't have left it somewhere less conspicuous?" she asks as she eyes him through the reflection.
