Oh wow, it really seemed like none of them were very good at this game, and getting worse as the night went on. Lyn winced slightly as she watched the other two take their final tumbles, the mercenary not even moving from her spot in the sand.
"Well, might as well go out with with a bang."
She tried, but the drinks made her steps a little woozier, and the sand had shifted, wetted, making odd little divots in the earth that were harder to get a position in. She grunted as she dipped back, but her foot caught on a tiny puddle and she felt herself rolling back just the same as the others.
Lyn rolls 12 0 points
The sound that came out of her was half laugh, half groan - just as disappointed in her failure as she was eager to hop to her feet and walk it off, her concern over the other woman pushing her forward on hands and knees so that she could smile down at Shamir.
"You're not looking so good, let's get you up and get some water, okay?"
Hand on knee to rise, then the other down to tug Shamir up, she grinned at the others. "Good job, everyone!" she called as she tugged Shamir along to find her a comfortable seat.

"It's not often you get to talk to somebody from our lifestyle without a knife at each other's throats. Zelkov's alright, yeah. After everything ended and we all went our separate ways, I kinda understood what he meant about needing something to do a lot more, which is what lead me over here...I hope he's doing well. I hope we both get that happier ending."

"You want me to...what?"
The tradition was passing familiar to her – there were similar types of ceremonies, little playacting bits out on the plains, although much of the wrestling was done between the couple themselves, as a challenge of fairness, of equality. For some clans, she found their variations aggressive, and for others more subdued, but...
It didn't seem as though wrestling was something that this couple...could do...
It was a lovely ring, Lyn could at least say that without reservation or irony. She could see easily why the groom had developed an emotional attachment to it: simple gold band, shiny green stone. She was no expert, but it clearly meant a lot to him.
Even aside of...everything else.
She wasn't here to judge his choices. She was just here to make sure the ring was safe.
So it drew a sharp and aggressive, "Oh!" from her when she felt the slim fingers take the ring from her palm where she beheld it, and an arm slip around her throat from behind. Vicious, furious bile rose in her throat as the man tugged her away - shame and rage and the familiarity of such a motion, from circumstances years long gone that could never erase themselves from her mind - until through her blurred vision she saw the door to the keephouse close before her.
There was only a moment of calm and still, after her struggle along the way, where she forced herself to take a breath, to center herself into the mindset of capability. She would not be a damsel here, she would not be helpless.
And then she erupted, reaching up to grip the arm around her throat and to allow it to tighten, closing off her airway just briefly so that he could not escape the tuck and twist of her back against his front, bringing him up and over her shoulder to slam his back onto the ground.
Lyn kept her grip on his arm, but did not twist unnecessarily, instead placing her boot in his armpit for security before taking a long breath in. "HWAH - ! What in the world was that about? If you think me so incapable, you're in for a grim surprise."

Oof.
Where the other two had performed better in the first round, it seemed that hitting the sand even those times had blown the winds out of their sails and both had found another slam onto the beach - Lyn, meanwhile, felt that she had the gist of it now, and bounded forward eagerly for her turn, clapping again as she hopped from foot to foot to hype herself up.
"All right, here goes - !"
It was lower this time, but she didn't let that affect her. Eyes narrowed and she arced her back, envisioning the threat of the pole rather as an opponent to be avoided, and finding that she slid easily underneath.
Lyn rolls: 16, 1 point for Round 2.
"Yes! And then again!"
But she must have let it get to her head, for she swiveled - possibly too fast, possibly off balance - and found once more that she was staring up at the night sky, legs splayed out before her.
A laugh, kipping back up, shaking the sand out of her braid as she jogged back over to the drinks, taking another shot, shaking her head. "Could do better."

"That's all?" Seemed simple enough indeed! The two ladies that had gone ahead showed how it was meant to be done - and what wasn't mean to be done, licking the salt from their wounds afterwards. The younger of them winced at the liquor, and Lyn couldn't help but be sympathetic - she was sure it was difficult to tell exactly what stung worse: the fall, the blow to her pride, or the burn as failure slid down her throat.
"All right, here we go." She rubbed her hands on her thighs for a moment, to warm herself up, noticing quite early on as she made to move that this was exactly the wrong garb for something like this. While it flowed and swayed prettily with her movements, it was not exactly made for broad bends and wide range of motion.
Lyn rolls: 6, 0 points for round 1
Which was to say, her back met the sand quickly as well, her heel digging too deeply into the sand to compensate for the stance that she could not take.
Where something of a higher stake might have frustrated her, Lyn simply laughed, the sound shooting upward from her chest with the force of her fall, and her eyes remained sparkling as she rolled back onto her feet and jogged to take her punishment shot.
It burned, and she winced, but clapped her hands together brusquely and punched a fist to the sky. "Next one will be better!"

Now this seemed more like it. They hadn't had these sorts of games at Lycian galas, not quite the physical kind at least - those were reserved for tourney. But even though they hadn't had exactly this out on the plains, Lyn could parse quickly enough what was expected, and looked forward to it. It wasn't dancing, and it wasn't navigating small talk - and she direly wanted to move about.
"If it's a challenge, then I'll happily meet it." The young one seemed hesitant, and the man dour - not to say of course that they would not find themselves capable, but there was a vibrant spirit missing. Lyn unclipped the shawl about her shoulders and slipped off the dress shoes, grinning broadly as she approached. "Whatever you throw at me, I'll meet it."
She wasn't what one might consider a drinker, but she had had the occasional flute of champagne in Caelin, and sips of things far rougher on the plains. If that was all the danger that faced them, she wasn't afraid.
"What terms do you propose?" she asked, hands on hips.
