— lainey lee dunk tank, performance arts festival.
Maisie was beyond impressed with all of the stops that the local bar owners turned hosts managed to pull out, complete with one of her close friends sitting in the dunk tank. She found herself halfway through the amount of throws she paid for when she'd already dunked the man once and would have felt bad doing it again so soon, so she turned to the woman behind her, holding out the ball in her hand. With her free hand, she questioned, You can have the rest of my turns if you want? He's a friend, I'd feel bad about dunking him again.

I'm sure, Maisie didn't hesitate before signing back, insisting that the other take the rest of her shots. She'd already sunk the man once, any more than that would just be teetering on villain origin story and she didn't need to be on the receiving end of any kind of villainy from a close friend. Being wet and then hot again and then wet again seems... soggy and maybe a little miserable. Though, if the other was at good at baseball as she claimed, maybe she wasn't sparing her friend very much after all, but at least it wouldn't be her who was at the sole root of his misery. I was always more into academics, science to be specific, never really played any sports. I'm already impressed by your throws though, just try to go easy on him.

She could not recall a summer as fair as this; the languid weather making for little room on the streets from the throngs of people that had collected there to celebrate an informal start to the season. Lainey felt herself revive in the warmth ─ struggle against something more than her own mind and splinter the confines the past months drew her into. Her lithe frame weaved in and out routing her way to the game booths as she came across the dunk tank, her father always signing up for it in the past, a smile as the woman in front of her gave it a good shot.

The plastic dimple ball replaced the clementine that had been resting there, out of her tote bag as she rummaged around it to find some chapstick when she was met with a question. Her hands were clumsy, as incoherent as one verbally attempting to form a sentence in another language, but Laine tried her best from what little she remembered, taking it as a third language in middle and high school. Are you sure? The weather is only going to get warmer, maybe you'd be doing him a favour. Though she doubted the tank of water was much cooler than the air enclosing them. A sheepish smile was casted the other's way when she took her shot and narrowly missed, believe it or not, baseball was my favourite sport and the one I was half... decent at, so my dad would be super proud right now.
