My Immensely Amazing First Solo International Tour

To discover yourself is the sole motto of solo traveling for me. We live in a judgmental society but having restless feet and a curious mind couldn’t stop me from fighting these judgments.

Having parents who believe in me more than anything else allowed me to take my first ever International solo trip and this time the place was the beauteous Sri Lanka.

No proper planning

I was my own boss. The real amazement of solo traveling is that I don’t need to call that one group who always plan the trip for canceling it. I was working in the office and an instant notification came in. My eyeballs grew large as I read there are continuous 4 days off in the coming week due to some reason. As I read the Email, my mind was hopping from one place to another and thinking where I could travel in these 4 days?

Best way to pamper yourself

Pampering doesn't always mean getting what you want or buying what you like. I think it is also about learning how to challenge your extremes and trust your guts at the same time. An adventure lover as I am, I checked all the articles and read so many travel blogs on Sri Lanka because I wanted this first-ever International tour to be the best one. The best view I saw after climbing was almost 5,781 stairs and I felt as if I am walking on the clouds. This was Sri Pada Adam’s peak and trust me it was no less than Heaven! I could simply live there for the rest of my life. The serenity and the scenic view took my breath away!

You are never alone!

Yes, you read it right! Though I started my journey alone and as I was getting closer to my destination, I started meeting lots of people. Few with the same mindset, some were weird and rest crazy just as I expected. Trust me, people are more comfortable in talking to solo travelers than with a group of people. And I met not just new people but got to know about their respective cultures and values. There is so much more when it comes to traveling solo and I was loving every bit of it.

You become a problem solver!

When there is no one around to wake you up or take care of your actions, that is the time when you automatically become more aware of your surroundings and responsible enough to not put yourself in any sort of danger. You start noticing things around this new country and observes every minute details. You ought to take your own decisions which inculcate a good decisive person in you. What I learned in this tour that you need to get the work done. I was roaming and then I had to take the typical local transport and suddenly everyone started to stare at me but then I had to go, so I just ignored and went ahead. See, I become a go-getter to solve my own problem. There is no doubt that my problem-solving skills definitely had a hike.

Engage more with the destination than with your partner or companion I made several local connections and made so many new friends from other countries and this was definitely a fruitful experience for me. I hired an auto which is called tuk-tuk in their local language and guess what, he became my full-time guide during my journey. He took me to major attractions as well as to many hideous places and even explained the history about the same. He was so sweet that he took my pictures as well.

This being a successful tour, I now will never waste a single penny on things I bought simply because they were cute. My agenda is to plan as many tours as I can.
