They make a friendly pact to mutually put their former partners behind them.  On the surface, it masquerades as your typical romcom, and romantic people may be confused by Jessica's unusual responses to the usual process. While the folks creating it might just think she's quirky, but aro people may get the inside joke and identify with her struggles with romantic expectations. Representation matters, and it'd be amazing to have more explicit acknowledgement and deliberate inclusion of people like us. Many books are starting to, including the curren entirely of the cuilverse, but film still presents us as awkward, "wrong", and evil for the most part.
