The family that gardens together... 🍅 Little B and I tackled a little gardening project late yesterday afternoon. . He got to plant his green bean seeds that Gramma have him for Easter. . I'm trying to grow tomatoes again this year. I'm hoping to have more luck than last year when the birds and bugs got to my tomatoes before they were ready to be picked. 😭 . And lastly, Little B picked out okra plants to try to grow for Mr. Introvert because he likes okra. I don't get it. 🤷‍♀️ Haha . The tree Little B is standing next to is a Dogwood that we planted last April. I'm so happy it survived the winter!! Mr. Introvert and I picked it out and planted it in honor of our miscarriage in 2014. 👼 . It's not a huge garden, but it makes us happy. And its better than nothing. And we are growing blueberry bushes on either side of the tree. Can't wait for them to get bigger! . Do you grow your own vegetables or fruit? Do you have a lot of space? How our days begin. ☀️ Up until recently, I've never been a morning person. I just wanted to sleep. . So God gave me early risers. . I fought it for the longest time. It made for grumpy starts to our days. This year I decided to embrace it and just go with it. . While my son is still in bed, I get up at 7:30 with my girls. I have coffee while they work on their daily math exercises. I check it over as they go and I'm there if they have questions. It is usually quiet, giving me time to come to life. 😉 Sometimes we have soft piano music in the background. . Once I accepted the way of things and adjusted my expectations, life got a little easier. Our mornings are more productive and mostly happier. (I say mostly because its Math...which can bring tears in our house.) . What do mornings look like in your house? Today is a day off. Took the kids to spend it at the lake. We are so close to being done with our school year, but still so far. With different classes having spring break at different times, it's been a long time since we've had a break. . Do you guys take regularly scheduled breaks? Or break as you need it? . Funny enough, I thought I was being clever and the lake would be deserted. There are almost too many people for this introvert to be comfortable. 😬 I keep telling the kids we can leave whenever and we don't have to stay all day. I love having them home and all of us getting to be together. The bond these 3 are building is incredible. Don't get me wrong, they fight. And I get mad. And it's not all 🌈 and 🦄. Hey there friends, it's been awhile. I'm sorry I've been so quiet. After our first 2 weeks back "in school", my classes started up and we haven't stopped since. . The first 3 pictures show some more fun we had with Ocean Life, including slime. Which, might I add, will be the LAST time I suggest making slime to go with our unit. Lol . Pic #4 is there because I wanted to show you how A set up a bed that Rocket will sleep on while we are in our school space after he plays. ❤ . Also while I was gone, we celebrated our new teenager. 😳 Not quite sure how that happened... . Sadly, in picture 6, we were saying goodbye to a beloved pet. My mom's dog had to be put down due to advanced cancer and little B took it pretty hard. 💔 . The last 3 pictures are from this morning. Little B excitedly started Tball today. And guys, I'm telling you, it was the cutest thing I've ever seen. 💗😍 . Thankfully I've got time this weekend to get ahead, but I wanted to let y'all know I hadn't deserted you. Our fun, all-together topic this month: Ocean Life 🐋🐬🐟🦈🐙 The girls wanted to learn more about the ocean animals and this is little B's first "formal" introduction to it. 🌊 Today we reviewed the ocean zones from last week and today little B made his own jars of each layer of the ocean. We also reviewed the animals that lived in the Sunlight zone. Whew, we're home! . For the first time ever, and after numerous times of being asked up, we went to visit friends in Virginia. This was to see the friend my husband has had since Kindergarten. (Our trips are usually with/to family.) So this was definitely new territory for me. . We celebrated the 4th together, they took us to a cool science museum in Richmond, and they took us to DC. . The Museum of Natural History had an Insect World Exhibit that A loved. And they had a butterfly hall to walk through where we all had butterflies land on us. And A was taking all sorts of pictures with her disposable camera. I love seeing her get excited about things. ❤ . In the American History Museum was what excited K. She couldn't wait to see Dorothy's Ruby Slippers. She watched Josh Gates' Expedition Unknown about them. And then the mystery of the stolen pair from the Judy Garland museum in her hometown. 😊 . Loved all of the views of the Washington Monument! I couldn't believe we were so close. (Totally geeking out the whole time. Lol) . We finished up DC at the Pi Pizza place where we were hot and tired. (You can see little B laying on A at the restaurant. ) Really good pizza, I definitely recommend it. . Before leaving Sunday, we headed to the po for a bit. Where it turns out Mr Introvert and I got sunburned. 🤷‍♀️ At least it was our last day and not our first, right? . We had a lot of fun. It is nice to be home in my own space though. I feel like I could sleep for a week to recuperate from our crazy month. 😴 . Such a full day. . We woke up today with nothing on our schedule, if you can believe that! So we decided to run with it and have a fun day. . We spent most of the day enjoying the Museum of Life and Science. A held the most butterflies of all our visits, and shared them with her siblings. . And it was so hot that we had ice cream, played in the mist, and little B even took his shoes off and played in the creek in attempts to cool down. . I love days like these. Y'all my babies are back home!!! . To celebrate, we had pizza for dinner and played Disney Monopoly after little B went to bed. 😍 (We'll finish tomorrow though. 😉) . They had a great 1st time at camp and already want to go back next year. But boy were they tired. And very thankful to be back in air conditioning. And their clothes smelled. 😂 So laundry is also underway already. . For the first time in a week, this mama is going to have a restful sleep knowing all of my babies are tucked safely in their beds. . I am thankful they had good experiences and came home with so many stories to tell. I am also thankful we were able to send both to camp.
