911 - MY IPAD IS LOCKED

This is a long one.

So my mad dad is a cruel, cruel man. He has three habits; 1-going after and torturing my gramma, 2-belittling and tormenting my mother, 3-going after me.

When I was 17 and my father tried to put his hands on me again, was when I finally gave up on any relationship with the alcoholic. I’ve been able to no longer get mad when he goes after me but instead I find it hilarious. When he screams I laugh, which incenses him even more.

One thing that I cannot deal with, however, is when he bullies and verbally abuses a 94 year old with dementia. This is unacceptable and causes my blood to boil.

Yesterday, I hear my grandmother yelling as my father is behind her whispering that he’s going to put her in a nursing home. He also thought it would be a smart idea to put his hands on her. This, understandably, caused her great distress as she thought he was trying to kill her (he openly admits he can’t wait till her and i “die and leave him alone).

I tell him in no uncertain terms to walk away and leave her alone, he refuses and we get into an arguement. He then goes to stab me with the screwdriver in his hand (I don’t believe he was actually trying to, I think he wanted to scare me).

Me: “Kevin, you will absolutely regret that if you stab me.”

Later after dinner I return to my office (I have a report I’m working on), when I here screaming. He again crept up behind her and began whispering how he wants her in a nursing home, how he just ordered her a wheelchair etc. Gramma becomes terrified as he looms over her.

Him and I begin a screaming match as I have had enough. I then tell gramma “Don’t worry there are consequences for his actions.”. Unfortunately, there is not much I can do. My father does not give a shit about anyone in his life; his children, his grandson, his wife, his mother, his siblings. He is not embarrassed by his virulent verbal abuse or his alcoholism. I had even called my mother earlier that day who he screamed at and hung up.

So, in order to perhaps finally drive the point home I take his iPad and change the password effectively locking him out.

The tantrum that followed was truly beautiful, it was a work of art.

He became so overcome with anger that he turned a brilliant shade of purple, clutching his fists and screaming like a madman. Of course I laughed at this ridiculous image which only increased his anger. His threats were also quite hilarious. I was still working and he was screaming with such ferocity that spittle was flying at me.

Me: “Kevin, do NOT spit at me.”

He walks away screaming, grabbing my switch controller and tablet as if this will get me to change the code.

I needed to go to the store so I go towards the bathroom to do my hair. He tries to push past me and lock the door, this of course didn’t work as I’m faster and stronger.

He then grabs me by the throat, another bad move, I remove his hand and push him away from me.

Me: “Kevin, do NOT put your hands on me.”

He then says he is going to get me arrested, which I find hilarious.

Kevin: “911, yes [he states his address], my son is abusing and threatening me.”

I begin to laugh as I find his threat hilarious

Kevin [maniacally]: “yeP KEEP LAUGHING YOU DINK! KEEP LAUGHING, oh you’re IN FOR IT”.

I go to leave and as I get in my car I see two cop cars pull up. “Are you, FUCKING, kidding me?” I think.

The cops ask me what happened, I explained to them that I am here to take care of my grandmother for the summer as my mom is up north and the rest of the family has given up.

Cop: “Oh so your mom takes care of her mother throughout the year and you’re just here for the summer?”

Me: “Well it’s his mother actually” The police are very surprised. “Yes, most people are surprised when they hear that.”

I explain to the cops the entire situation (not telling them about Kevin wishing death on my grandmother and I, or about the fact he grabbed me by the throat). Kevin tries to interrupt me going on about how they pay for my phone (it is a flip phone and $10 a month). They put their hands up and put him in his place. Not only does he look like a fool, the cops actually commend me on being a great kid.

My mother, understandably, is very nervous that my alcoholic unbalanced father will continue to call the police and try to get me arrested. Thank the lord, he is now heading up north three weeks ahead of schedule. I do feel quite bad that my mom is going to get her break from him cut short by 3 weeks.
