This issue of the FF, #Issue33 which was published in December of 1964, sees the FF team up with their bitter enemy Sub Mariner to fight against the threat of Attuma from the depths of Atlantis!!!! The issue opens up with an awesome splash of the team analyzing a deep sea creature that looks like a cross between a Fin Fang Foom esque dragon in the face and a lobster in the body/tail. This thing is creepy as hell... My favorite part has to be The Thing saying “What’s That? The winner of last years Miss Yancy St Beauty Contest?” What a classic line... and what kind of hind legs are those, sea branches??? Issue 33 came out today, so let's talk about it!

First, here's Amy, Rouge, and Cheese in a car! Also, Shadow!

Shadow's being secretive as usual, so the girls just go to the place without him. When they get there, they sign up for the Chao races, and we get our first real look at Clutch (who I've been told is a Possum, and yeah he looks like a Possum).

After Cheese wins the first race, Rouge decides to go meet Clutch, and he sees through her disguise...

It’s a date :3

Finally, we learn that there's ANOTHER shadowy figure that Shadow came here to find, and the two begin to fight!

July 28th 1934 saw Gerhard Zucker launch a rocket carrying mail towards its intended destination on the island of Scarp.

The isle of Scarp lies on the west coast of Harris. It was thought to have been first inhabited in 1810 and its last inhabitants left in 1971. Scarp was the scene of the trial of ‘rocket mail.’ A German man called Herr Gerhard Zucker had invented a rocket which could be used to send mail. He wanted to try it out and chose Scarp as the ideal location.

Special stamps were printed for this mail delivery and a letter was written to the King. Zucker brought with him a rocket that weighed 14 kg and it was able to carry several thousand letters at 1,000 miles an hour. However, when Zucker lit the rocket, it exploded prematurely – spreading the attached mail over a wide area. Of course the mail was damaged, but the local postmaster insisted in collecting it all. He put a message on all the mail. It read: ‘Damaged by first explosion at Scarp – Harris’.

A second rocket experiment was successful and a few letters addressed to Orkney actually reached their destination. Even so, the experiment was abandoned soon after. Scarp never had any electricity and there was no place to anchor in bad weather. These things contributed in the island’s evacuation in 1971. Nowadays it is only used as a place to graze sheep.

#JackedKirby - House Ad Crazy!!! Here are two 50’s era DC House Ads for Challengers of the Unknown, something that was a Kirby creation but a title he didn’t work on for too long before leaving DC. . The first ad was pulled from My Greatest Adventure #Issue30 which was published in April of 1959. It is an ad for Challengers if the Unknown #Issue7 which itself was published in May of 1959. . The second ad appeared in My Greatest Adventure #Issue33 which was published in July of 1959. The ad is for Challengers if the Unknown #Issue8 which itself was published in July of 1959! . It’s always nice to look at how they were marketing comic books to readers in different eras.
