Adrien kept looking at her. 

Not in the usual way of trying to get her attention, but like he was trying to not get her attention. Which only drew her attention to him. She saw it mostly from the corner of her eye and waited to catch him staring.

“What?” Marinette met his eyes and moved her whole head to look at him. She saw his face fall and eyes widen at being caught.

“Uh- nuh- nuhm- uh- nothing.” He stammered out. She narrowed her eyes.

“I’ll find out eventually. You may as well tell me now.” She looked back at her notes and continued writing.

She thought she could hear him say something under his breath but she couldn’t make out what it was. She let it go. If he wanted to tell her something, he would.

When they were let out for lunch, Alya came by their table.

“Hey, Marinette. So, I know this isn’t, I know you wouldn’t, but uh, Lila’s been going around and telling people that the only reason she’s not the new pianist for Kitty Section is because you badmouthed her to the other members. And I know that’s not what happened but there are some people that believe her.” Her voice was firm but her face was, Marinette wanted to say that she looked concerned.

“Thanks for the heads up, Alya.” Marinette smiled at her, and an expression passed across her face.

“No problem. Uh. See you around.” Marinette watched as Alya played with her fingers when she walked off.

“She couldn’t keep with the chords and tried to go off on her own solos during the songs.” Juleka blurted out. Apparently it had been weighing on her for her to say it like that.

“That sounds about right.” Adrien sighed. “She also keeps trying to go off script at photo shoots.”

“I didn’t know she was doing shoots.” Rose said. “But I guess that makes sense, since she would always leave rehearsal early.”

“Now that I think about it, I’ve seen Lila talking to people during our rehearsals. Not those of us who have roles, but the prop team and backstage people.” Mylene says. None of them knew what she was up to and it was too much of a hassle to try and figure it out. Plus, and bless Rose for this, there were other things preoccupying their minds.

“Adrien, why did you keep glancing at Marinette during class?” Adrien blushed when Rose brought it up.

“Yeah, what was up with that?” Marinette asked. “You were acting really skittish.”

“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” Adrien said, dramatically moving to hold his head up high and sit straighter than he already was.

Rose, Juleka, and Mylene glanced at each other. “Maybe we’ve reached part 2.” Rose said.

“And simultaneously part 5.” Mylene responded. Ivan nodded and Juleka just sighed, leaving Marinette and Adrien confused. Marinette was about to ask what that meant when Ivan looked at her and shook his head. Marinette, and Adrien, apparently, accepted that for what it was and continued on with their lunch.
