Warning: Spoilers !!
i get that nobody likes to talk about elphaba’s death in wicked the life and times of the wicked witch of the west because its really sad - but oh my god it is written so well???  elphaba realizing the parallels between her and dorothy are so much stronger than she thought and their shared desire for forgiveness and how despite their intentions to do good, things always turned out horribly?? the way elphaba knows the moment dorothy says she came to ask for forgiveness she’s powerless and could never harm her because she is so deeply aware of what that feels like so all she can do is scream and she accidentally sets herself on fire, dorothy crying “when will this nightmare end” and trying to save her by throwing water on her because how could she know what would happen like gregory maguire that is some brilliantly twisted shit
