hoo was so fucking strange because that idea that the gods shouldn't be involved kept getting pushed, yet literally most of the things that happened to fulfill the prophecy were because gods got involved? it was jump-started with hera switching jason and percy, nevermind her messing with jason and leo's lives prior to this nor pluto's pushing to not go to alaska ultimately made marie susceptible to the influence to go to alaska. the lost trios quest revolved around saving hera, but the son trios quest had to save thanatos. it's freaking aphrodite of all people who alludes that the villain is gaea, while it's aeolus who gives leo the argo 2 drawing again. and like, it's questionable as to what this lead to eventually but nemesis gave leo that stupid fortune cookie to worry about, but leo also had to make sure frank wasn't gonna kill him cause frank had both ares and mars in his head. but regardless, annabeth had some strange side quest to do for athena's sake (????), but then they fall in tartarus and hazel visits hecate to get a power up? leo gets blasted away to calypso? nico meets cupid for a wizard stick? even in tartarus, percy and annabeth rely on bob the titan, but also a fallen hermes shrine for food? and then it's nike who's the one to even suggest the physicians cure plan, like leo didnt have a CLUE what that was until she mentioned it, and then apollo artemis asclepius and some other randos are there at there to confirm and help with this plan that leo didn't even come up with, but like, literally all of this is just so ????

like here's the thing: how can the gods not help be involved, when they are so entwined with moving the plot forward that without them, nothing would happen? and beyond that hole, it is incredibly alarming how much the gods really do use their children as pawns. like, the mark of athena quest makes this pretty clear, but also? they are not constrained to the time and form and power of demigods. they allow children to fight for them, yet believe they have the right to pick favorites and boast champions? the gods are doing most of the work and planning, but shed no blood at the end of the day. luke kinda was right (he was wrong, but he was right)... and this is literally SO STUPID considering half of the people the seven met are just like "yeah, the gods and magic fucked up my life". the seven really should've just said bitch me too????

like, i keep coming back to how none of that physicians cure plan was ever really leo's. maybe he wouldn't have died? maybe jason would've died instead? maybe frank or hazel or percy or annabeth or all of the above? hoo was so weird for that "the gods don't interact with demigods"???? HUH???? why was nemesis sharing her chinese food order with them??? hera was basically living with jason, and ares and nike literally WAS???? apollo gets punished cause octavian was a little too kill-happy, but zeus, my man, ur whole extended family had the seven on speed-dial??? all in all bro, if the gods just paid their child support and stayed in this magic cloud penthouse or whatever, the plot and outcome of hoo would've been entirely different
