miscellaneous headcanons, because i love u
Artem Wing
Before Artem had Neil, he used to be jealous of other students’ bonds with their favorite teachers. He saw how they easily made connections and talked about things as easy as their weekends to as personal as their home lives, wishing he could have something like that. He needed validation, but his aloof, perfectionistic attitude made it hard to maintain anything casual. For a while he felt like he was nobody’s favorite.
Artem grows a lot of facial hair, and he looks super attractive with stubble but insists on shaving because otherwise he feels messy and tired. Also, nobody’s ever told him they like his five o’ clock shadow…
He has a few plants in his office and waters them regularly. He’s never been a houseplant person, but they do help liven up his stressful office. However, the moment he hears Rosa nickname them as she prunes off dead leaves, he starts referring to them with those names in his mind every time he waters them.
Vyn Richter
Vyn uses too much conditioner, but his hair ends up super silky smooth anyway because he’s better than the recommended amount on the bottle. He also regularly wears sunscreen because he cares about his skin and burn very easily.
He had a thing for patterned pants when he was younger. Although the look he had in mind was originally more punk, with red plaid and hanging suspenders, he never actually felt he could dress that way. Vyn grew up to wear subtly checkered slacks in green, gray, and beige.
He’s always super composed, but his audio recordings each night have been increasingly erratic with the escalation in NXX cases. Sometimes he clicks to record only to say nothing, just removing his glasses and rubbing his eyes. There’s a lot he has to sort out, and he knows an upcoming burnout would ruin the progress he’s made—even more so, the progress he makes for others. Being attentive and analytical during therapy appointments, various lectures, NXX meetings, and even when he’s alone can become overwhelming quickly.
Marius von Hagen
Marius has had really bad voice cracks at important meetings and brings it up just to act like he’s laughing it off, while still being deeply embarrassed inside. He doesn’t want people to think he’s a baby.
He misses Giann so much. Growing up with ten or so years between them, he absolutely adored everything he did and said—his big brother was the coolest, smartest, most suave guy he’d ever met, and Marius wanted to be just like him. Sure, Giann would abuse that at times to do something stupid, like convincing him he could make a cool marble pattern by melting crayons directly on the stove, but he’d always rush to make sure he was safe and the kitchen wasn’t burning down before anyone caught him. Marius has a lot of these memories stored for when he misses him, but sometimes they only make him miss him more.
Marius still has a teenager’s brain when it comes to sleep—he wakes up early, goes to bed in the dead of night, and sleeps until natural disasters wake him up on the weekends. However, he never has eye bags because his von Hagen genes could never, making Rosa’s blood boil with envy.
Luke Pearce
Luke really loves the snow and gets jittery just anticipating it. He used to hope for days off from school at every mention of snow so he and Rosa could make forts and fight with snowballs. After they went inside, she always used to make him hot chocolate and count the marshmallows into piles so they’d always be even. Luke isn’t the best cook but you can bet the moment it snows, wherever he is, his mind goes right back to then. He makes hot chocolate with hot milk and the powder packets, or sometimes he melts his own chocolate if he’s got the time. Still, he absentmindedly counts the marshmallows like Rosa used to.
He stole a calculator from middle school by accident, and felt bad about it for years. Once Rosa found out and started laughing, it became more like a souvenir.
I imagine he really likes playing older video games, like bringing an N64 into Time’s Antiquities and exploiting boundary breaks in Mario Kart while nobody’s in the shop. Even though the games he plays all came out before he was born, they still give him a feeling of comfort and nostalgia.
