I was going to say I understand

I understand why I'm no one's favorite

No one's priority.

I'm prickly, I'm defensive, self-absorbed, absent-minded, and a dozen other things that make me a challenge.

But you know what.

I don't understand.

Maybe I am all of that

Maybe i am hard to love.

I am.

But.

Maybe you're bad at loving people.

Maybe you're just not up to the challenge.

Maybe you just don't try hard enough, love hard enough.

Maybe that's a personal failing on your part.
