#i know my opinions on this are fund. out of step (they are punk in a whatever sense. umbrella for the rock music they're grounded in)#but honestly i think its funny this started from a drag race post. mcr is to punk what rupauls drag race is to drag#idk if michelle visage has room to talk here FHSKDBDKFHRKG#they are obv More than punk though. they arent the clash This Is Known. but they came out of diy phc and its dumb to pretend otherwise#lots of other similar elaborate late stage emo bands dont have the same history or connection to the underground#itd be like calling simon and garfunkel Just Pop Music because they had a few number ones no they tangibly had connections to folk scenes#and then transitioned to new methods of songwriting and such out of that#if that makes any fucking sense anyway its genre politics dont fuckin matter lmaooo#my posts
