roy family beach trip (they go to the hamptons or the keys or something idk).

kendall (10) asks to borrow connor's polaroid camera to take a photo for a postcard he's gonna mail to his best friend. connor (19) waits patiently while kenny spends 20 minutes finding a sand crab to hold up in the photo. on the second day, he almost drowns in a riptide and won't stop crying when connor finally rescues him. logan tells them all a story about how when he was 5, his brother tried to drown him in a freezing lake in scotland, and he was just fine, thank you very much. ken refuses to go near deep water for a long time.

roman (6) steals a bunch of sand crabs and puts them in his siblings beds at night. also thinks the lifeguard at the hotel pool is very pretty and gets up the nerve to show her the card tricks he's been teaching himself. after several times trying to approach her to show her "just one more," she tells him that's cool, sure, thanks kid, but he needs to look for a girl his own age. he finds his way into the ballroom and meets a girl his age and she teaches him how to do some ballet moves. the two of them demonstrate their newly choreographed moves to the crowd and the adults croon and applaud until logan drags roman off the dance floor by his collar.

shiv (8) gets a "raccoon sunburn" aka she put sunscreen on AFTER her swim goggles so she only gets burned around her eyes. she's still unbothered sitting in the hotel's infinity pool in her little flamingo pool float with big movie star sunglasses on. she teaches roman and kendall, plus an increasingly large crowd of other kids, how to get the biggest ice cream swirl from the hotel's free machine by balancing each layer on top of itself until it's nearly a foot tall. ken asks if she can make one for him. she says sure, if you talk to that blonde girl by the tomb raider machine and tell me what her name is.

logan and whichever partner he was with at the time hit the bars and proceed to stay there (or god knows where else) until the wee hours of the morning. connor makes the kids wait outside and steals logan's first drink for himself while logan isn't looking.

after connor leads them away from the bar, and all of them band together to target a claw machine on the boardwalk. connor has a credit card paid for by logan (only one allowed to hang on to it) and they spend SEVERAL hours paying for hundreds of rounds to get every. fucking. toy. out of the machine because shiv spotted a stuffed walrus that she wanted and the rest of the kids were hell-bent on getting it for her.
