INTRODUCING  —  AIDEN SUNG

“ THE BLOOD ON MY TEETH BEGINS TO TASTE LIKE A POEM. ” is that STEVEN YEUN? oh no, that’s AIDEN SUNG, born on the 15th of FEBRUARY, 2008. i heard THEY/HE (NONBINARY) is a HERDER of WYOMING MILITIA. apparently, they can be CUNNING and RESOURCEFUL but also known to be SELF-SERVING and FICKLE. spends most of their free time FIGHTING SLEEP AND SMOKING, probably smells like HOMEMADE CIGARETTES & GUNPOWDER. is that a bite mark i see? no, must have been a trick of the light.

HISTORY: (tw for child abuse on the marked** bullet points)

Aiden can't remember much of their past nowadays, they'd say. They'd tell you it's something about the brain repressing traumatic memories or whatever. They do actually remember more than they let on -- they just don't want to talk about it.

They ended up being taken care of by a man, when the apocalypse happened. They called him Dad, but looking back on it, they're not even sure there was any weight to that connection. It was just the two of them, since Aiden was a little kid.

** Dad would use Aiden to get supplies and shelter from other survivors. He would throw them first into dangerous situations, only so they would get pitied, and he could come in right after to ask for things to keep his child alive. Aiden was thrown into the middle of roads to stop cars, or shoved right into crowded survivor camps. They lost count of how many times someone pulled a gun on them. It stopped having any meaning after a while.

** Everyone usually caved and got the two of them enough supplies to last another week, but Dad hardly shared those with his kid. No, he said it was good for Aiden to keep a more scrawny, clearly malnourished appearance. It made people pity them more, he said. It got the two of them more food. More water. More attention.

By age twelve, Aiden grew sick of living like this. They barely had any energy, but whatever was left, was turning into rage. A wrath they couldn't control, something ugly that walked hand-in-hand with resentment towards this father figure that abused them for years.

They had a fight one day. A screaming match that attracted too much attention from the infected. Aiden could hear the distant growling getting closer, but they couldn't stop the shouting. Dad tried to shut them up, and before Aiden even realized what they were doing, they had delivered a blow to his knee with a hatchet that had been laying nearby. They weren't strong, but the weapon was sharp enough to do incredible damage.

Dad screamed bloody murder, left in pain on the ground, begging for help to get up so he could limp away from the infected that were certainly getting closer. Aiden ran away.

They were a scrawny little kid, only twelve at this point, they didn't have the energy to run far or the strength to actually fight any infected on their own. So they got creative. They found a hiding spot in the woods, a tree easy enough to climb, and they surrounded it with all kinds of traps they could come up with. Using old nets, spears, wooden planks, they slowly built themselves a safe spot where they could hide. And they lived there for two years, completely isolated, only leaving that space when they needed to go searching for food. They were better off like this than when they lived with their Dad, to be fair.

At fourteen, a stupid kid fell into one of Aiden's traps and hurt his leg. Aiden hadn't talked to anyone in two years, they weren't even sure they knew how to, anymore. They were upset by the intrusion to their little safe haven, but they promised to help the boy before he could return to his running.

Valentin ended up being a good friend. Somehow along the years, reluctantly, Aiden gave in. The two grew up together, kept each other safe, they were inseparable. They were each other's ride or dies and Aiden could honestly not see their life without Valentin in it anymore.

Until they were forced to. On a trip out to scout for supplies where they scheduled to meet back at a certain spot, the Grizzlies found Aiden alone. The group took an interest to their creative trapping system, and dragged them over to meet their new leader Yen, keeping Aiden from returning to Valentin for days. By the time they actually could go looking for their friend again, he was nowhere to be found.

Aiden ended up being a herder for the group, once Yen trusted them enough for the job. They definitely didn't love working for the Militia at first, but at least they could still roam around and occasionally look for Valentin, just in case he was still out there, also looking. After a few years without seeing each other and all hope thrown out the window, they finally found their way back. Valentin is now with the Idaho Hunters, which makes everything more complicated. As soon as Aiden found him, however, they knew where their loyalty lied. It was like their centre of gravity shifted. They would do everything in their power to keep Valentin safe, despite this faction war.

The two now meet out in the woods, in secret, when they can manage to sneak out. At least they get to talk and catch up and warn each other about any incoming attacks their groups are scheming against them.

Aiden doesn't trust the grizzlies, even after all these years, but they're not the worst. They keep them well fed and give them shelter, but they're not family. They are good at pretending, though, and they certainly don't want to find themselves on Yen's bad side.

TL;DR because literally that's so long i probably wouldn't even read it myself it's fine:

they had a shitty ass dad. they killed the dad. lived in the woods for two years by themselves all alone by setting up traps and being resourceful capturing zombies. 

met valentin when he fell into one of the traps and hurt his leg like a dumbass! the two eventually became inseparable until they were, literally, separated, we love the irony

grizzlies got a hold of aiden, took them in because of their cool traps, and they became a herder for the group. they didn't see valentin again for years, but they found each other again, valentin now being an idaho hunter. now the two meet in secret when they can.

PERSONALITY:

Sarcastic and a bit of a nuisance. They like to be funny and outgoing on the outside, but they still keep their distance -- specially considering they think of Valentin as Their One Person and Only Person, they really have no interest in actually making friends. 

Probably uses too many curse words and laughs at everything.

Anger issues!! They've had them since they were a kid, but they're more dangerous now that they're a full grown adult, probably. It happens in sharp uncontrollable outbursts that they usually try to deal with by going out into the woods and blowing up things or killing some zombies. Happens more often when they're stressed, but they've gotten good at handling it nowadays. Probably easy to tell they're having one of Those Days, since they're otherwise a fun, more cheery person.

EXTRAS

Sleep deprived because they got night terrors (most nightmares surprisingly involving their Dad, whom they have not mentioned to anyone but Valentin), but who isn't an insomniac in the apocalypse, huh?

Addicted to smoking and will kill for a cigarette. Probably makes their own since the world has turned to shit and it's not like anyone can go buy some at the store anymore.

there will be no miracles here.

Kenza was fortunate enough to be adopted into a loving family at a young age and considered herself even luckier to get an older brother like Malachi out of the deal. As a child, she absolutely adored her brother and looked up to him. Much like her brother, she was a religious child, never questioning what her parents or the church they went to told her.

When things looked like they were taking a turn for the worse, the siblings were sent to live with their uncle in Jackson, Wyoming. There Kenza continued to rely more on her brother than anyone else, preferring to learn things secondhand from him than their uncle when she could. So preoccupied with how their lives were changing and all the new things she was learning to do, she let her faith slip further and further away until she simply stopped being religious altogether.

 Eventually the siblings parted ways and though she was a little saddened at the thought of seeing her brother a lot less, she couldn’t be happier for him and the family he’s starting. Besides, living her own life and discovering even more new things (even in a world that was falling apart) sounded like an exciting adventure.

She lived a mostly nomadic lifestyle, never joining any of the factions popping up around her, instead simply opting to make friends with traders and live more or less on her own. She even gained a fair amount of medical knowledge that would later come in handy. She couldn’t say she was lonely while keeping in contact with Malachi and making friends from various walks of life.

And then one day she simply stopped hearing from Malachi. It was confusing and painful for him to not be in her life after they’d been so close. In his complete absence she leaned heavily on a friend (see connection below).

In what felt like a miracle, Kenza was reunited with Malachi after several years. In her joy to be reunited with her brother, she didn’t realize how much he had changed in their time apart. It wasn’t until later, when she was already part of the Purged that she realized something was very wrong, but by then it was too late — she was stuck there.

Kenza isn’t actually religious nor does she support what the Purged does, but she pretends and goes along with what they do because she’s terrified of what will happen to her if she doesn’t.

She’s horribly guilt ridden over all the meaningless sacrifices she’s taken part in and suffers from a fair share of nightmares as a result. She also lowkey feels horrible every time her brothers punishes someone and tries to find small subtle ways to do something, anything for them down the road.

She can’t find it in her heart to outright hate Malachi for who he’s become and what he’s done — he’s still her brother. However, the longer she’s with the Purged and more extreme they get, the more her hopes for him ever returning to the way he was before die.

Would probably sell the Purged and any of their weaknesses out to other factions if she was guaranteed nothing bad would happen to Malachi or all the kids there.

Almost all of her relationships with her fellow Purged members are shallow and fake. She doesn’t trust them and knows there’s nothing she could say to get them to change their beliefs. She would prefer to spend less time with other members, but rarely takes time to herself in order to look like she’s following along like the rest of them.

She used to be a huge social butterfly, the type of person who would strike up conversations with strangers and quickly befriend others, but she’s become a lot more reserved since joining the Purged.

Generally not a fan of violence, but is someone who would resort to it to defend herself or someone she loves if necessary. 

Truly deserves to be happy in a field of flowers and butterflies somewhere away from the Purged.

Her hair is definitely not blonde like in the gif I used because I feel like there would be no way to maintain that in this world ajkfhds

CONNECTION 01: FRIEND OUTSIDE OF THE PURGED (01, Any faction other than the Purged) Someone she met and befriended while separated from Malachi. They rarely see each other now that she’s reunited with Malachi and is a part of the Purged, but they are still extremely important to her. When they do manage to meet up, it’s usually not a joyous reunion with Kenza sobbing on their shoulder over everything she’s taken part in and them trying to convince her to leave with them. If she ever does manage to build the courage and will to leave the Purged, this is the person she’d run to and join whatever faction they’re part of because anywhere is better than where she is now.

CONNECTION 02: PURGED MEMBER SUSPICIOUS OF HER (01, The Purged) Despite how much time and detail she puts into her little act, it isn’t always convincing so maybe there’s someone who has picked up on that she’s not as devote of a believer as she pretends to be.

CONNECTION 03: FRENEMIES (no cap, The Purged) Any devote believers she spends a lot of her time with/is friendly towards to keep up appearances. She doesn’t actually like them though and they’re the people that terrify her the most in the cult tbh.

ABOUT.

warwick  tamsyn  ,  alongside  his  twin  brother  walker  ,  was  born  on  the  eleventh  of  april  in  the  year  2019  ,  somewhere  between  wisconsin  and  nebraska  .  the  day  was  hot  and  wet  ,  with  heavy  storms  spanning  the  two  weeks  of  the  spring  month  .  the  group  his  family  was  apart  of  was  small  ,  with  only  one  other  kid  in  the  entire  group  .  they  group  was  constantly  on  the  move  ,  never  staying  in  one  place  for  more  than  a  few  days  unless  for  emergencies  .  his  father  was  the  leader  of  the  group  but  did  not  take  ownership  of  the  twin  boys  ,  leaving  them  in  the  care  of  their  mother  full  time  instead  and  treating  them  like  any  other  member  of  the  group  .

wick  was  also  more  reckless  than  the  other  children  .  although  the  infected  terrified  him  ,  they  also  tempted  the  the  side  of  him  that  sought  the  rush  of  adrenaline  from  a  life  threatening  situation  .  this  characteristic  about  him  often  landed  him  in  deep  trouble  with  the  group  ,  and  later  under  heavy  surveillance  by  the  adults  .  he  was  also  much  more  aggressive  and  hot  headed  ,  having  bouts  of  explosive  behaviour  at  the  simplest  of  issues  .  

early  on  in  his  life  ,  the  group  found  trouble  while  evading  a  group  of  infected  .  the  three  children  in  the  group  ,  then  eight  ,  were  sent  ahead  for  safety  while  the  adults  fought  off  the  infected  .  wick  ,  his  brother  ,  and  their  best  friend  waited  in  an  abandoned  home  for  two  days  but  never  saw  any  sign  of  the  group  ever  again  .  in  fear  of  being  alone  at  their  age  ,  it  was  there  that  they  remained  for  a  few  more  days  before  wick  convinced  them  that  they  should  keep  moving  .  they  made  a  pact  before  they  left  to  never  leave  each  other  behind  ,  and  to  also  stick  together  no  matter  what  .  by  keeping  low  and  quiet  ,  they  managed  to  survive  until  they  found  and  were  transitioned  into  jackson  in  the  year  2032  .

the  twins  and  the  other  child  keep  close  to  each  other  ,  closing  themselves  off  from  the  growing  group  in  jackson  ,  wyoming  .  however  ,  as  more  time  passes  ,  more  trust  is  allowed  .  until  eventually  ,  wick  and  the  others  become  fully  invested  in  the  well  being  of  the  group  while  also  never  abandoning  their  own  promises  with  one  another  .  wick  and  walker  became  patrollers  for  jackson  ,  but  were  rarely  partnered  together  ,  due  to  several  incidents  that  nearly  led  themselves  and  others  into  harm  at  the  fault  of  their  own  reckless  and  immature  behaviour  when  in  the  company  of  the  other  .  however  ,  as  individuals  they  work  immaculately  .

wick  is  someone  that  will  bend  over  backward  for  the  people  of  his  group  ,  and  seek  to  kill  anyone  that  attempts  or  successfully  harms  one  of  his  own  .  he  struggles  with  anger  issues  and  rational  thinking  ,  choosing  the  solution  of  violence  over  anything  else  when  solving  problems  .  he  is  often  found  working  on  a  new  wood  piece  in  his  makeshift  shed  ,  or  finishing  up  projects  others  have  requested  of  him  .  he  also  spends  most  of  his  time  in  the  tipsy  bison  ,  drinking  his  nights  away  and  making  friends  with  anyone  and  everyone  he  can  .  he  has  a  big  heart  but  never  thinks  about  things  .  very  very  reckless  and  dumb  .  needs  people  to  tie  him  down  and  keep  him  at  bay  .

alexander is a golden boy. he’s devoted, obedient, proper. he’s everything everyone wants him to be, and doesn’t dare step outside of his preordained box. conforming offers him a safety and benefit of the doubt like no other ; two of the very most important things in this world. 

his mother is a fanatic, drawing hope and purpose from the purged’s way of life. she ushers her family into the light without hesitation, giving up her own son as an offering. it’s the only way she can see to protect them in this new world: they have to get in the oracle’s good graces, they have to be pivotal, they have to be spotless. 

immediately, she decides that alexander has to be a virtue. he’s no fighter — she’s seen the way he carries himself, the way he’s never quite liked anything too rough or too dirty. alexander has no choice, no voice to raise above hers. hers, the hot wire that wraps itself around his brain, squeezing and squeezing until he’s sure its embedded into his every thought. his mother’s convincing that way, applying pressure and pressure and pressure until he grows strong enough to carry it well. he has to succeed. people are depending on him; there’s simply no other choice to be made or entertained.

alexander tries to be good. he studies until his sight blurs. he spends his time helping others and performing house calls, even if they already have enough virtues on duty. he watches for any signs of doubt in the masses, ready to swoop in on that vulnerability at a moment’s notice. he’s one of the oracle’s many ears, a faithful follower intent on keeping their numbers high. he’s like a vulture that way, but that’s not how he sees it.

see, alexander learned the hard way early on that knowledge is power. he gets too close to another boy, too handsy, too intimate. he’s felt it before with others, but never quite like.. this. it’s new, and as such they fumble, make risky decisions. alexander’s mother catches on, only she isn’t like alexander: johanna doesn’t hesitate. in an effort to protect her son, she slanders the other boy ; drags his and his family’s name through the mud and accuses them of heretical acts. alexander, afraid and wracked with guilt — guilt over having been so stupid and naive, makes a vow that he won’t let that happen again. he sees now that his mother has never been all bark — if he steps out of line again, he’ll face her bite again, and again, and again. he can’t be selfish; not when it has such a high price to pay.

he has a kind face and an even softer voice. it’s easy to trust him, to feel like he could understand whatever it is one’s going through. maybe in another world he would, but that isn’t the world they live in. alexander is a rat. he passes on what others confide in him, pushes them back into the light before they can stray further.  he thinks he’s actually doing something good — as if saving them from a worse kind of punishment. the community comes first and they’re only as strong as their weakest members. if preserving that — preserving everything that they’ve worked so hard to build — involves a level of sacrifice then so be it. everyone has to pitch in somehow. he’s doing his part, are you?

ironically enough, alexander doesn’t like to be aggressive. he doesn’t like hurting people. could never stomach the concept of fighting. he knows that it’s necessary sometimes, but.. he can’t help but think: what right does he have to take another living being’s life? none. none at all. [ rip to this bitch if anyone ever runs up on him tho lmaooo ]

you can’t bring him anywhere. he’s so incredibly anal about cleanliness and.. everything else in the world. oh, you wanna go jump in a lake? you mean where there are all these bacteria and amoebas that could kill you? what, you wanna start rebelling? you mean do the thing that could get us all in serious trouble? i think not!! he’s prissy and he knows it. you can’t complain if you invited him, susan!

alex is very non-threatening and conscientious of others. he’d be a really good homemaker. he can be a bit of a bitch sometimes, but that’s only if you really just used up all of his patience. he, also, can come off a bit.. intense, when talking about the purged and their beliefs. he just cares a lot and really believes in what he’s saying, which can kind of come off a bit sanctimonious, too. 

he keeps dodging the whole getting married thing, but the closer he gets to thirty the more pressure those above him have been applying. he kind of toes the line between being resigned to the fact that he can’t have the life he wants, and looking on the bright side of it, which for him would be having kids. trying to imagine another reality is painful, however, and he’d rather just keep avoiding it entirely. wishing things were different doesn’t make them so, and he already spends his time worrying about so many other things.

enemies / frenemies. maybe alexander used something they told him against them and they don’t buy the whole “i did it to help you” argument of his. maybe something else happened, or maybe they’ve just heard of his rattery and they don’t want anything to do with it. alexander will still be courteous, even if just the tiniest bit passive aggressive.

> 2008 - 2013: grew up on a cattle ranch in wyoming, the fifth son in a family of seven children. spent his childhood learning how to tend to the fields and care for the various livestock, until shit hit the fan in 2013.

> 2014 - 2022: his family didn’t start feeling the effects of the fungus until spring 2014, when the outbreak hit their rural backcountry. lost his parents and siblings in the panic, rescued by his eldest brother joshua and his brother’s girlfriend mara - jason was five years old at this point.

> jason and his niece hide and survive, steering clear infected and humans alike. he provides for his niece as much as he can, often going hungry and giving his last granola bar, or handful of berries, or smoked rabbit meat, to his niece. miraculously enough, they manage to do well for themselves, scavenging for what they need, distrusting all others.

> 2025 - now: they reach jackson in 2025, when jason is 17 and his niece is 7. initially, they don’t want to join the community: jason insists that they manage just fine on their own, but doesn’t want his niece to have to grow up on the run. he wants a place for her to settle down and have a shot at a normal life, as ‘normal’ as life can be at this point. the community accepts them, seeing them as just two kids who need help.

> traders -- this is one of the connection ideas i had for my application so i’m just gonna copy + paste it here! jason can be a little bit too trusting for his own good. he’s an optimist, in a world that likes to kill optimists for sport. he believes that all of humanity is in the same boat, has been for a long time now, and that inside of everyone is a pure heart that wants to help others. because of this, he initiates trade with travelers outside of the community when he’s outside of the town’s walls, trading food for medicine or goods that might come in useful for the community. this connection might be someone who joined the community because of jason having reached out a helping hand in the first place, or someone who took advantage of his kindness - totally open!

was born with a small group of her mother’s friends there to support her; it was about a year after the apocalypse began so nothing was too, too in ruins yet. her mother had been in a group that included: 3 of her coworker friends, 2 strangers + her husband (aka dani’s father).

the group worked swell for .... well, a few years. they kept to themselves and mainly focused on raising + keeping danielle safe. and it worked; until it didn’t. in the middle of the night, while 2 members of their little group were trying to get their Freak on, they got attacked and 1 ended up bit but he didn’t tell anyone.

long story short, he turned and the scene was horrific. the only people who got out unharmed were 4 year old danielle and her father. he travels far from where their little group was hiding out; her father wanted no memory of the horrible event that killed his beloved wife.

her father tried his best to be hopeful and optimistic for danielle; teaching her the power of optimism. he always told her stories about his adventures growing up - things she, having been born in an apocalypse, would never experience. this is what started to give her hope.

inevitably, her father is bit. but luckily, they’re very close to jackson when it happened. he drops her off and says his goodbyes. though, he doesn’t tell her he’s bit and instead simply tells her that he’s going to scavenge for food. at a later date, she sees him zombified. she can’t bring herself to kill him.

2041 is when she makes the best decision she’s ever made; she adopts molly (12). molly is a little girl whom watched her parents die in a horrific way. luckily though, danielle was there to get her to safety + bring her back to jackson. molly would refuse to talk to anyone but dani and because of this, she became very protective of the little girl. she helped molly process and heal and after a few years, danielle asked molly if she could adopt her. & in years, molly said yes.

helping molly heal and process what she’d seen is actually why danielle decided to become a carer. she realized that she felt a need to protect the children and help them through anything that happens...

BULLET POINT HISTORY:

Lucas grew up in a world before the apocalypse. With a single mother and a sibling, he lived pretty normally, all things considered. He was barely a preteen when the world went to shit.

His mother took her two children and escaped the city to take refuge in the woods. The three of them had a few months together, while she taught them how to survive; setting up traps, hunting, first aid, preparing food. She made sure they knew everything, and then she was bitten. She separated from them, so they wouldn't have to kill her when she finally turned. She left them alone and ran as far as she could.

Luke and his sibling had to grow up alone, keeping each other safe and alive. As the older brother, he always felt responsible for the other -- he still feels responsible for them.

Eventually, much older and feeling like a pair of wild animals after so long in the woods by themselves, they stumbled into the Jackson Town community. (If they are together or if his sibling left for another faction is tbd by whoever takes on the connection, if it happens)

It was a while until he started bonding with people in town, but it happened eventually. He made friends, he became a good hunter for the community. He met the love of his life and got married, about fifteen years ago. Meeting Isaiah in the middle of the apocalypse almost made him want to become some kind of hopeless romantic.

But then Isaiah got taken by the Idaho Hunters, three years ago. Ever since then, Luke has been retreating back into his shell with each passing year. He doesn't even know if Isaiah's still alive, but he holds out hope. The hunters would've had to come looking for another doctor if they'd killed him.

He's determined to do something about this, and he's growing impatient. One of these days, he's just going to march into hunter territory and snatch back his husband himself.

PERSONALITY:

He's a bit of a grump, a bit of a mopey guy nowadays. Used to be a lot more smiley and the human embodiment of the 🥰 emoji when Isaiah was around, but now he's a lot more reserved and quiet. Spends a lot of time sitting up in trees and contemplating the meaning of life, etc.

A bit stubborn and doesn't trust easily. Very unforgiving of people once they fuck up. That gifset of Reese Witherspoon saying "I tend to my grudges like little pets".

CONNECTION 01: YOUNGER SIBLING (01, fc of any ethnicity for an adoptive sibling, guatemalan if biological, but i'm impartial to either) luke was still a kid when the end of the world started. he doesn't remember much of that chaotic moment, nowadays, but he remembers the need to protect his little sibling with tooth and nails. he's always been protective of them to a fault, and this hasn't changed. they used to live with their mother in the city, and as soon as the outbreak happened, she took them to the mountains, hoping it would be better there. she was the one who taught them both how to protect themselves and how to survive. she was bitten months later, and to save her kids from having to kill their mother, she begged them to go into the wild, then ran in the opposite direction as far as she could before she turned. luke and his sibling were left to fend for themselves, still kids. growing up alone meant growing sharp edges and thick skin, but above all, they survived.

CONNECTION 02: RIDE OR DIE (01, jackson town only, everything else utp) luke isn't a very open person. he's warm, he likes to care for others, but he doesn't open up easily. he keeps his emotions locked up inside and he keeps the displays of such emotions to behind closed doors. he's also not easy to forgive people once they've done wrong, so he doesn't trust easily, but this person he can trust completely. the ride or die is someone he can rely on to get through that distant exterior, someone he's probably known for years. in the last three years, since isaiah's been gone, luke probably relies on them, for their friendship, more than ever.

PLOT POINT: lucas finally decides he's had enough of sitting around waiting for the hunters to give back his husband. whether someone follows him or not, he doesn't care anymore, it's been too long of surrendering to these bastards. he'll bring it up to the rest of the town in hopes to gather some support on his mission; he thinks if they gather a small army and sketch out a plan, they can stand up to the hunters. with or without help, either way, he's going there.

you’re a tornado with pretty eyes and a heartbeat.

Roxanne was raised by a single mother who tried her best to give her daughter a good life. Her father was never in the picture and after asking about him a few times and not receiving any answers, Roxanne decided she didn’t care who he was or why he wasn’t around.

With her mother constantly working to provide for Roxanne, she learned to take care of herself at a young age and spent a lot of her time with a group of rowdy kids in the same apartment complex as her. She was that kid covered in bruises and scrapes from playing too rough and being a little too daring (also 100% that kid that just tackled anyone who tried to mess with her or her friends no matter how much larger they were). Regardless, she couldn’t really complain about her earlier childhood.

With things rapidly going downhill and the virus continuing to spread, Roxanne’s mother and a few families in their apartment complex (that were like extended family at this point), decided it was best to get out of the city. Living outside of the city, Roxanne learned how to fend for herself even more — learning how to shoot, hunt, and a variety of other skills necessary for survival in the changing world.

The tightknit group continued on like this until Roxanne was a teenager. Unbeknownst to the entire group, including Roxanne, her mother had been bitten while hunting. It wasn’t long before she turned and put the group at risk, biting another member before anyone managed to shoot her. The bitten member was the wife of the self appointed leader of the group and immediately lashed out at Roxanne, claiming she must’ve known that her mother was bit and was the one who convinced her mother not to tell the rest of the group. The man, who was like an uncle to her, managed to convince the rest of the group that she couldn’t be trusted and that they needed to leave her behind. In the middle of trying to get the group to change their minds, she was struck in the head and her vision went black. 

She woke up with nothing but the clothes on her back, a small knife safely tucked away in one of her boots, a throbbing headache, and the sting of betrayal. Enough time had passed while she was knocked out that she had no hope of catching up to those who left her for dead (probably for the better, trying to get any sort of revenge —  no matter how bad she wanted it, wouldn’t have ended well for her).

She was smart enough to know that her chances of surviving on her own without any real supplies wasn’t going to end well, so she decided to set off towards the nearest qt zone. She found the way FEDRA was running Idaho Falls largely disappointing though and started to direct her pent up anger towards them. 

She eventually met Nik in a bar and the pair got to talking about their mutual disdain for FEDRA. Shortly after she agreed to join Nik and others to oppose FEDRA’s control in Idaho Falls.

FEDRA eventually fell to the group and Roxanne has since been leading the Idaho Hunters alongside Nik and Reuben.

If she had a motto it would definitely be “resent and remember.” She’s not the forgiving type — once you’ve broken her trust there’s no way to get back. Betray or double-cross her in any way and she’s going to be out for blood. She will prioritize her own survival over her revenge though if her revenge will undeniably result in her demise.  

Roxanne isn’t here for anyone’s bullshit and is quick to call people out on their shit. She’s not one to sugarcoat things and will tell you exactly what’s on her mind and what she thinks of you for better or worse.

She’s willing to make tough decisions and doesn’t care if her choices aren’t particularly popular ones — ensuring the Hunters live to see another day is more important to her than being liked. She firmly believes you have to do what you have to survive and the end justifies the deed. Roxanne’s definitely not someone who backs down from confrontation or a challenge. 

She still doesn’t let her guard down around many people, partly to keep up the appearance of a strong leader, but also ya girl still has a lot of trust issues. She’s very ride or die for anyone she does get close to though (so long as they don’t betray her).

Honestly kind of hotheaded, it really doesn’t take too much to fire her up and she’s very (ง'̀-'́)ง 

Lowkey competitive and doesn’t know what the words “give up” mean tbh. Once she sets her mind on something, she’s going to do it and there’s no talking her out of it.

CONNECTION 01: CLOSE FRIENDS/SOFT SPOTS (i don’t have a specific number in mind but like probably under 10 people, Idaho Hunters only) These would be people that have been with the Hunters for years and have gradually gained Roxanne’s trust and have gotten pass her icy exterior. She’s not the best at verbally expressing what they mean to her, but she’s more vulnerable around them and shows she cares through acts and just being less abrasive with them compared to others.

CONNECTION 02: SPARRING PARTNER (01, Idaho Hunter) Roxanne is (ง'̀-'́)ง a good chunk of the time so having someone to spar with in her free time is a must. Could either be someone she’s sort of mentoring or someone she knows sparring with would actually be a challenge because it’s not fun to easily win every time.

CONNECTION 03: ENEMIES (no cap, any faction) Just like the other Hunter leaders, Roxanne’s burnt a lot of bridges and made decisions that have surely caused her to gain numerous enemies over the years. In addition to that though, she’s resentful and vengeful so this could be anyone that’s betrayed her in the past (or future tbh) and could even include people from the group that left her alone to die.

> 2013 - 2020: when the outbreak occurred, they were living in los angeles, california. their parents took them out of the city, fleeing north in october of 2013, to the family’s vacation home in the sierra national forest. hanako is 3 years old at this point, and remembers little of their life before the outbreak.

> in the woodlands of central california, hanako grows comfortably into the role of the eldest sibling: they see their parents’ incompetence in survivalism, having been pampered and raised in the city since their own childhoods. in the relative isolation of the woodlands, they read the books available in the town’s library, learning which plants are edible and which are poisonous. they craft traps to gather small game for their family - but a squirrel is a poor meal for a family of four, with another coming along the way.

> 2020: their father dies when hanako is ten years old. he and hanako, running to a nearby town for supplies, find themselves ambushed by a bloater - never before seen by either of them. he sacrifices himself for hanako, makes them promise to look after their mother and siblings: a promise that hanako had made to themselves a long time ago.

> they return home and inform their family of what had happened. their mother is never the same after that, and hanako strongly suspects that she blames them for their father’s death. they shoulder the blame, remaining strong and stoic for their youngest sibling, snarling at their mother to snap out of her grief and focus on surviving to honor his memory. the resentment grows.

> 2021: they begin to move northward, in search of colder climates as a drought dries the streams around them. they make it to wyoming, following the highways and scavenging whatever food they can find to supplement whatever hanako manages to trap. this is when they meet the purged and are taken in, after they deem the mother a low threat, and the children to be fresh raw blood for their group.

> 2021 - now: hanako, distrustful of the cult but grateful for the safety and protection in numbers, goes along with their teachings and practices where it does not compromise their own freedoms, while their mother falls wholeheartedly into the purged’s beliefs.

> as hanako grows older, they establish themselves as a skilled hunter and merciless killer, unblinking at the idea of spilling blood in the name of the purged. however, it is known to the others that hanako’s loyalties lie with their siblings, not to the oracle or even to the cult at all. still, they’ve proven themselves to be a capable provider, a steady hand and, so long as they keep themselves in line, the others are willing to overlook hanako’s aloof dishonesty.

> the younger sibling -- hanako feels a great responsibility to their two younger siblings, especially after their mother threw the entire family’s lot in with the purged after their father passed away (they joined when hanako was 11 years old, so in 2021!) hanako doesn’t approve of the purged or their practices, but understands why their mother had joined, which was to protect her remaining children. age for this connection is pretty open, so long as they are younger than hanako! faction-wise, they don’t have to be aligned with the purged currently, but it would make sense that they had at least been with the purged at some point during their childhood! it would absolutely work if they’ve since defected and joined another faction. down for all the sibling angst! i do envision that they are biological siblings, so anyone who is japanese or half-japanese would work!!

> the hunter -- nowadays, hanako is a skilled hunter and provider for the purged, but this wasn’t always the case. they were a trapper first, and being a hunter who can bring down big game is a skill they learned after aligning themselves with the purged. their near-silence in the woodlands surrounding the community means hunting for game is a relatively-easy task for them now. totally open for plots where this person taught hanako how to track and hunt down animals!

> the savior -- hanako spends much of their time alone, as they’re not particularly trusted within the ranks of the purged. because of this, if they are ever sent on patrols, they opt to go by themselves. during a winter storm, they’re riding out the snow in a cave and they come across a group of others who’d lost their supplies in the storm. hanako, not disclosing that they’re a part of the purged, helps them and gives them some of their food and shelter for the night. i’d love to explore where this plot might lead to - perhaps another member of the purged saw them being friendly and publicly calls hanako’s loyalty into question, perhaps this group of stragglers is from another faction and uses hanako’s affiliation against them somehow - basically, no good deed goes unpunished!

> distrust -- i’d love to explore plots where other members of the purged call out hanako’s lack of loyalty to the cult’s beliefs! hanako never publicly denounces their ideals, but does not ascribe to the cult’s beliefs on traditionalism and fundamentalism like they are expected to. plots about being confronted, or perhaps your character is similar to hanako and doesn’t believe in these ideals either, and they find common bonding ground!

> revenge -- while hanako does not believe in the purged’s ideals, they still do the dirty work for their faction without blinking an eye, even if they inwardly find it distasteful. i would love to explore a plot where your character wants revenge on hanako, perhaps because they had killed your character’s friends/family as a sinner or something of the like! totally open to ideas on this - basically a dynamic where hanako just hears That Danger Music whenever this person is in their vicinity!!

“ WHATEVER YOU DO, YOU’RE STILL MY SISTER. ” is that KATHRYN NEWTON? oh no, that’s CLEMENTINE SINCLAIR, born on the 12TH of JULY, 2024. i heard that SHE (CIS FEMALE) is a HUNTER in THE PURGED. apparently, they can be PATIENT and RESOURCEFUL but also known to be ANXIOUS and DISHONEST. spends most of their free time DRAWING IN THE DIRT WITH A STICK, probably smells like DIRT. is that a bite mark i see? no, must have been a trick of the light.

born to a single mother with an older sister, rose, waiting for her.

mama sinclair didn’t trust groups so the trio stayed on their own; she taught them how to survive and the importance of sticking together.

in 2036, clementine’s mother sacrificed herself so that her daughters could escape and survive. long story short, they found themselves face to face with a bloater while hiding from a horde. clementine was given her mother’s bracelet before she sacrificed and still, to this day, clem refuses to take it off for any reason.

clementine is 18 when the duo became very weak and ill. the sisters were having a rough few weeks and you could definitely tell by how they physically looked. luckily, a stranger found them and took them back to her group. she slipped them through under a disguise that she was her biological children whom she thought she’d lost years prior. unluckily, this group happened to be the purged.

rose was thankful and very happy to be a part of the purged and would even eventually become a seraphim. however, clementine feels much less enthusiastic  &  is very ready to leave the second she sees what the group is about and constantly pushes for the duo to leave but rose always shuts her down and says no.

in turn, this gives clementine no choice but to stay in the group because she refuses to leave her sister; she always kept in mind the importance her mother stressed about them sticking together...

other stuff .

listen..... clementine??? Hates the purged DFJKGH she’s genuinely very afraid of them and doesn’t want to know what’ll happen if she tries to leave so she pretends to be supportive + loyal  &  at least tries her best to be nice to everyone in the group.

she experiences almost daily panic attacks. prior to being found in the purged, rose taught her some techniques to help her with her anxiety ( deep breathing, playing the 5 senses game, etc ). clem tries her best to hide her symptoms from her group, again, out of fear; there has been a few slip-ups though.

she has IBS which........... YIKES!!!!!!! makes living with the purged an even more unpleasant experience DFGJKH.

super random fact but she hasn’t had her first kiss yet.

the outsider :  you are someone who helps keep clementine sane. you’re from two different groups and have very secret meetings deep within the bush. she considers you a very good friend. clementine often vents to you. you’re very much her rock. (0/1)

the forbidden love story :  you and clementine are in different groups and it’s just common law that you two are forbidden from seeing + being with each other. if the purged ever found out you two met....... Zoo-wee-mama, it would be not be good. but this doesn’t stop you two from seeing each other... 👀

i expect nothing, and i’m still let down.

Robyn was born the third of four kids a few years into the apocalyptic world. It wasn’t always easy navigating this new world with four young children around, but the family did their best and managed. As a child Robyn was content with what they had, believing that things would be okay so long as their family was together. 

They eventually learned that the world wasn’t that kind though when their family was unexpectedly separated. They can’t remember exactly what happened, they just remember everyone panicking and running. They had been holding onto one of their older sibling’s hands, but they couldn’t keep up, lost their grip, and tripped. Confused and seeing their family quickly fade out of view, they hid and waited the threat to pass. 

They tried their best to stay in the general area, looking for their family and holding onto a little hope that all of them would be reunited if they just stayed put. The more time that passed the more hopeless they got and staying put wasn’t much of an option anymore for a young teen that barely knew how to care for themself. Knowing they couldn’t keep barely getting by like this, Robyn eventually managed to stumble into Jackson Town alone, dirty, and malnourished in 2033.

While they were grateful to have a safe place to stay and a town looking out for them, they were never the best at showing that, acting out a bit (not enough to cause too much trouble, but enough to be considered difficult). They didn’t really know how to cope with not knowing what happened to their family so they shut in on themself.

Pretty directionless and unsure of how to really make themself useful in town, Robyn started working at the Tipsy Bison when they were old enough. It’s not always the best job, but there’s limited danger involved which is probably for the best. 

“be myself,” what kind of garbage advice is that?

Robyn probably isn’t the bartender you want to see at the Tipsy Bison. Their people skills leave a lot to be desired and they’re not overly fond of a lot of social interaction (why they thought working at a bar is just one example of their poor decision making skills). They’re likely to look someone dead in the eye and say “you look like shit.” or “the fact that you’ve been in here every night this week makes me feel better about my life to be honest.”

Banned from the kitchen at the Tipsy Bison. Seriously should not be asked to cook under any circumstances unless you want the entire bar to go up in flames.

Kind of a messy person in general tbh. Like they’re not very organized, have poor time management skills, impulsive, and would hop in the middle of a bar brawl despite not being great at fighting.

They’re not the easiest to befriend, but with some work and patience they can be won over. They’re not particularly affectionate, but they’d have their friends’ backs no questions asked. Not the friend you want to go to get some comfort though since they’re so pessimistic and they would pull a Zuko and just say “that’s rough, buddy.”

They’re the type of person who tries to have a calm, cool exterior while internally screaming and trying not to be too awkward. And I mean, most of the time they pull that off, but instead of coming across as awkward they just come across as rude so not exactly a win. 

They’ve long since given up hope that their family is still out there looking for them. Lowkey feels abandoned by their family and often feels a little out of place because of it.

Voted most likely to go out and living alone in the woods if they could actually do that and manage to survive.

CONNECTION 01: LEAST FAVORITE CUSTOMER (01, Jackson Town) The reason these two don’t get along could be something major or just a bunch of petty small things. Either way Robyn can’t stand them and would probably dive across the bar to fight them if Casey wasn’t there to hold them back.

CONNECTION 02: KINDRED SPIRIT (01, Jackson Town) Someone who is just as pessimistic and introverted as them so they just kinda vibe together. Probably drink together and are just like “god, people are the worst, am I right?” They don’t necessarily have to be friends, but they are on Robyn’s small list of people they can tolerate for long periods of time.

Amos was born to an incredibly religious family just two years before the outbreak. Already being so religious, it wasn’t all too surprising when the family got tangled up with Purged and their beliefs two years after the group was formed. Being so young, Amos hardly remembers a time when when his life wasn’t so heavily influenced by the group.

Naturally curious and unafraid of asking all his questions to whoever leant him an ear, Amos caused his parents a fair amount of worry during his early childhood years — especially when his questions revolved around faith and what the sinners did that was truly so awful. Scared of what would happen if his curiosity and open mindedness continued, his parents were to quick to shut down any questions he had and further shoved their beliefs down his throat and paint anyone outside of the Purged as horrible monsters.

In an effort to continue to reinforce a strong devotion to the Purged and discourage any growing sympathy for sinners, his parents pushed him to work towards becoming a Power as he grew older. In addition to that, his parents made sure both him and his younger sister witnessed whatever sacrifices they could — always making sure the pair  understood why these things were necessary. 

Life within the Purged continued on, largely uneventful, with Amos focusing most of his time and energy into becoming a capable power and devoted member of the group — mostly to appease his parents, but also because he was becoming more blindly devote to the group the longer he was there. 

Meanwhile, his younger sister got married and made plans to start a family as expected of all members. Things didn’t work out as well as anyone had hoped though and his sister passed away after giving birth.

Unbeknownst to Amos, his brother-in-law began to question his faith and intended to leave the Purged with Amos’ niece. Of course, the two weren’t able to get away and Amos’ brother-in-law was sacrificed. Ruth, only being a year old at the time, was seen as an innocent in the whole mess and was allowed to stay with the group.

In the last year, he’s tried to help raise his niece to the best of his abilities, but being unmarried and having other obligations has left his niece to be primarily raised by his parents (which he's fine with). His parents on the other hand would love to see him get married and raise his niece along with some children of his own.

Amos is a fairly pleasant person to be around so long as you’re a member of the Purged. He has bouts of time when he’s easily annoyed and prefers his solitude, but overall he’s kind and respectful towards his fellow Purged members. Definitely less social after the deaths of his sister and brother-in-law.

He has zero tolerance for those outside of the Purged and feels no remorse for killing them and sprinkling their remains on the shrines to the infected. At this point he’s very desensitized to the whole thing. Like murder, sacrifices, and making offerings to the infected? A typical Tuesday afternoon. 

That being said, he doesn’t particularly like receiving high praise for any of his acts — not out of guilt, shame, or anything like that. He’s very passionate about what he does for the Purge, but he just genuinely doesn’t like being in the spotlight and will pass off most accomplishments as a group effort.

He’s not super enthusiastic about his title of Seraphim. He definitely feels honored to have his loyalty recognized, but again he doesn’t really enjoy all the attention it brings.

He’s so blindly loyal to the Purged that there’s absolutely no point in trying to change his beliefs and views at this point. He firmly believes that the Purged is in the right and everything they do is justified.

Amos has been considering marriage more and more these days — mostly because he’s tired of his parents constantly bringing it up. Really the only thing that’s holding him back is knowing his parents will expect him and whoever he marries to raise Ruth and he’s out here like “@ god how do you raise a kid?”

may god have mercy on my enemies because i won’t.

CONNECTION 01: POTENTIAL FUTURE SPOUSE (01, Purged) Romance/love isn’t really the priority for Amos in this relationship. He’s more focused on doing what is expected of him and having someone to help co-parent Ruth. This would be someone he’s at least friends with or at least somewhat familiar with.

CONNECTION 02: CHILDHOOD FRIEND (01, Purged) Amos has been with the Purged since he was four so this would be someone he befriended at a young age and has remained close to throughout the years. Amos 100% views this person as family and has probably leaned on them a lot more in the last two years.

Bring more Powers please! I imagine he has a very close knit relationship with a lot of the other Powers due to all the time he spends with them.
